"oh, come on, reid," j.j. said as he kept making glances towards you across the room as you talked with garcia about an old case you two had solved together. "she's cute, why won't you consider it?"

"statistically speaking, i would have less of a chance of getting someone like-" he began but j.j. pushed his shoulder back some as he looked down at her. "j.j., i'm not going to go over there and embarrass myself by asking her to go out with me."

morgan walked up at that point as he entered the conversation midway.

"what are we talking about?" he asked.

"well," j.j. began. "i was trying to convince him to go talk to _____ and ask her out, but he's wimping out of it."

morgan agreed with j.j. on the subject matter.

"kid, you really should go for it. just imagine how lucky you could get," he said, taking a sip of his drink as he looked back over at you. you were walking towards the punch bowl, alone now.

"fine, but if i embarrass myself- i'm blaming it on you guys," he said before walking off to go meet you at the bowl.

when he got there, he gave you a small smile as you smiled back at him. you grabbed a cup, filling it as you turned to look at him.

"you're about to ask me out, aren't you?" you asked him, taking a sip of the drink.

he opened his mouth as if he was about to say something but then shut it once more.

"well, you're acting weird first of all. you didn't say anything when you first approached me. you took the time to see when i was alone so you would be less nervous to talk with me. you did the nervous smile you do to people when you like them," you explained with a small smile as he slowly nodded.

"sometimes i wish we could turn this profiling thing off," he muttered as you smiled at him.

"well, spence," you began. "pick me up on tuesday at eight o'clock and we'll figure out something to do," you said softly, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek before walking back over to garcia.

he turned back to go over to morgan and j.j. as he smiled.

"i got a date!" he said excitedly.

morgan laughed along with j.j..

"and you said you'd be embarrassed," she said.
