Art Stuff/TuToriel | How I'd draw a Female character? Part 2

Welcome back to my tutoriel or how I'd draw a female character!!

We last left off on the hands, and now we're moving back up to the head of your drawing, because we're doing the face & hair!

Let's get to it!

Step 15.) Before drawing the face I normally draw the Hairline, first. This way, I'll know how high the one the face the eyes and eyebrows can be, and where the hair will start:

***Knowing where the hair will start is important. Otherwise you could give a character a receding hairline when they're like, a kid! It's also good for knowing where side burns are supposed to go, too.

****Really quickly you'll also want to draw the ears of your character:

If the character is an animal humanoid with ears on the top of their head(i.e. fox ears), then the human ears are simply for reference. Like, if the head was at an angle, you'd be able to see any sideburns the character might have

Other wise they're both for reference and just cuz the character is a special that has human ears.
Make sure to draw their ears if the hairstyle they have wouldn't cover them, and the ears are necessary if the character has any side bangs or strands of hair sticking out from in front of the ear. Or if the character has a noticably amount of hair pushed behind it.

Step 16.) When I draw faces, I almost always start with the nose:

Though, my way of drawing noses is what I'll refer to as a "dog nose style" or a heart.

If you wanna drae noses as I do, simply draw a arrowahead pointing down, and the make the ends of the line rounder and build it to be however thick you want it.

*****Then normally I add three lines right above the nose, but it's not necessary:

I don't really have a reason why I add it, I just find it appealing.

Step 17.) Onto everyones second least favorite part other then hands; eyes. In this tutorial we aren't drawing just one, oh no. We're drawing both of them.

How you may ask? Well, it's actually really simple. draw a half circle:

And then draw another one:

You see how the second one doesn't look exactly the same as the first one? That's normal. Funfact; my right eyelid is a little more drooped then my left, but it's only noticable when I look in a mirror, rather then in my normal vision.

Nobody has perfectly symmetrical eyes! Especially not in art. Just try and make the eyes as symmetrical as possible but dont spend a whole hour on it, cuz that's not gonna fix it.

And if you can draw digitally, then you're lucky cuz you have the copy and paste options!

Anyways, moving on.

Since this character is a female, I'm going to give her a couple eyelashes, as well as irises:

She also has some bags under her eyes due to her being a character that doesn't sleep as much as she needd to. It has character to the, well, character! Pfft.

And then all that's left of the face is the mouth and eyebrows:

As I mentioned in part 1, the character I'm drawing is an anxious and antisocial person, so she wouldn't have a bubbly and joyful expression! Though she's a polite person, so he wouldn't have a resting bitch face either, haha.

And now you're done with the face and can move onto the hair!

Step 18.) For the ears, the best thing to do is reference the ears of the animal your character has the ears/is a humanoid of. The chsracter I'm drawing here is a Fennec Fox humanoid, so I referenced the ears in pictures of fennec foxes:

Of course, it's not gonna be exactly the same. And it doesn't really have to be-it all depends on your art style and preference.

And since I drew the face and aninsl ears, I dont need those human ears anymore.

Now for the hair!

Step 19.) To start off the hair first you need to draw the line the makes the part in the characters hair(if they have one):

******The part can be a straight line, a zig-zaggy one, or both! The one I drew was super random though.

And then you simply draw your characters hairstyle! Make sure to google references if you're unsure what hairstyle you want your character to have. I didn't need one though, since I already drew my character and the hairstyle I wanted for her in a small doodle before I decided to do this:

And then you're done with that!

After doing that, you can draw the clothes and whatever else(i.e. a tail).

Step 20.) One last thing before this is finished, that I didn't add till after finishing the hair, is the collarbone:

Of course, it's not necessary to draw if your character is wearing clothes that cover it, but if they aren't then drawing it can be really simple!

As shown in the drawing, draw a straight line starting near the corner of the shoulders, and stop that line right before where the neck and shoulders connect, then draw a diagonal line that goes down till it connects with the line separating the chest and shoulders.

Then repeat that with the other collarbone and bam! Collarbones complete!

And TADA! YOU'VE COMPLETED THIS TUTORIAL!!

Heres the final product of my sketch:

I felt taking a picture of the progress of drawing the clothes and tail would've been a bit redundant, so I decided against it. I also added my signautre and the date.

What I'm going to add that I won't show is lines in her hair for hair strands, as well as loose strands coming out from the main sections.

But you'll see that when the drawing is finished!

Anyways, I REALLY hope you enjoyed this tutorial-I've never done one before, but I said that I would about a month ago so I decided to do it now so it's there and it exists;;;;

And so I can get it over with pfft.

This took a whole 3(about to be 4) hours to type, and I actually sat here and typed it rather then watch a video or procrastinate, so that should show how deticated I was pffft

As I said in the frst part of this, feel free to ask any questions you might have for me! I'll try my best to answer them!

Also before I go, the reason I have yet to say this characters name, is because I haven't decided on it yet,,,,, I have a name technically, but I might change it so I don't wanna end up making people go from calling her one thing to the other if I do change it. But I'll probably ask for feed back if I ask you guys to decide between 2-3 names or something, pfft.

Anyways, I once again hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and that I did a decent job explaining things.

Til next time,

Ja nē~!
