The day passed quickly and before I knew it we were gathered near the woods.
"You know the rules" Chiron said "creek is the border line. You may take prisoners but no maiming." He looked at the ares side as he Said this.
"You have ten minutes before we begin" he said
"Hey Chiron said you can use your tech" luke said
So I put my new gloves on and put my bar and four stars in my pocket. (I made sure none of them were bats)
I tapped my hand down and it fit to my hand I tapped my index and a light lit up but it wasn't very visible.
"Hey I saw your gloves" Annabeth came over "how did you do that"
"My uncle"
"Anyways you'll be on border patrol" she said "not to much should happen"
"So you don't have a plan?" I asked
"Athena always has a plan."
I found a mirror and realized how stupid I looked. I had oversized armor on a huge helmet with blue feathers on it. My bar was strapped to my side along with a sword. I had tried to find a good one but none balanced in my hand.
I closed my hand to test that it still worked and my bar was in my hand. I also found out that if I tapped my thumb to my index and middle finger a star would come.
"Ready set" Chiron bellowed "go"
Kids raced into the forest and I followed luke who led me to the creek.
"Stay here" he said "don't let killed"
I soon started pacing. Nothing was going on.
There was a low growl and I tensed.
A group of people emerged from the the bushes.
Clarisse and her minions.
"Kill the punk" she yelled and they charged
I grabbed the sword and went to block but the sword was an unbalanced unfamiliar weapon. I was slashed on the leg and I fell to the ground.
Clarisse came towards me. Her spear crackled with electricity.
I tapped my hand as I backed up into the creek. The bar was in my right hand I tapped my thumb and index finger and a star was in my left hand.
She lunged as I stepped into the water. Energy flooded me.
I caught her spear in between my bar and star and I pushed.
Crack
The front half fell to the ground. I threw one star hooking one of her minions and getting them stuck to a tree. I knocked two out using my bar clarisse was last. She attacked and I swung my bar but she knocked it into the air. I grabbed a sword of her fallen comrade and I slashed her on the shoulder and on the leg.
Yells erupted and cheering. I realized luke ran across the border with the flag. "Well done Percy" luke clapped my on the back.
Annabeth suddenly appeared beside me and I jumped.
"Not bad newbie" she said
"I was bait to get them away from the flag" anger flooded me
"All part of the plan" she said "I was here and I was about to help but you've got it."
"That's a cool hat" I said
"Yeah my mom gave it to me."
A growl came again. I turned as people yell. A giant dog dove towards me. I couldn't do anything. The dog yelped and thudded hitting the ground. I saw Chiron nocking another arrow. But the beast ran off.
Gasps erupted. Everyone was pointing at me no above me and I looked up. Above me and saw a trident fade.
"All hail Perseus Jackson" Chiron said "son of Poseidon."
