𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲'𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬:

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ୨ ❉ ୧ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

"Alright girls, gather in the living room," Renee called out.

The girls were currently in their dorm room, waiting for Renee to tell them what they were doing today.

The first one to show up in the living room is Lanhua who smiles softly at Renee before taking a seat on the couch. Followed behind her is Robin who was playing a game on her phone, but she was able to spare an abrupt wave to Renee before flopping down next to Lanhua on couch. Then, Mari entered the room, sending a small wave to Renee before sitting herself on the love seat next to the couch.

After Mari showed up, Mya came bouncing into the room sending a bright wave in Renee's direction before placing herself next to her Mari. The older girl wrapped an arm around her shoulder and the two snuggled into each other.

Finally, Alaska and Riley came in together, both of them with linked arms as they squeezed into the last two spots on the couch.

All the girls were looking at Renee who was currently standing in front of their TV.

For whatever reason, Renee was dressed semi-formally with a suit jacket and a pencil skirt.

"Why are you dressed like that, Renee?" Riley finally asked, unable to leave the lingering question in the air.
"Well, first things first, I'm teaching an important lesson today which means that I need to look my best if I want you guys to take me seriously. Secondly, the topic we're discussing today is extremely serious: media training."

All the girls let out a collective groan at that.

"Why do we need media training?" Mya whined. "It's stupid! Besides, we went through all this already for SSS!"
"Yes, but now you're going to be debuted idols which means there's a higher standard. Especially for JYP idols who are known to be humble and kind."
"But we are humble and kind," Alaska pointed out.
"Yeah, there's no one more humble and kind than us!" Riley added.

The girls stared at her for a moment.

"Okay, I heard how it sounded."

Renee chuckled and then quickly resumed her focus.

"Either way you guys, we have to look refined for the camera. Any weak spots and you could easily lose any respect that you gained. Let's start with some questions a host could ask you."

Renee turned her focus towards Riley, deciding it would be best to start with the leader.

"Riley, you're the leader of the group. Are there any other leaders in K-pop that you looked up to in order to help your judgement in guiding your members?"

Riley beamed, a wide smile appearing on her face.

"One of the main inspirations to my leading is Stray Kids's Bang Chan; he always leads his members with grace and kindness, but also isn't afraid to call them out when something is wrong."
"And we're going to stop right there," Renee sighed. "I hate to mention it you guys, but unless the hosts actively mention the boys, we aren't going to talk about them."

All the girls instantly began protesting, not liking the fact that they already had a restriction one question in.

"Anything related to Stray Kids can fuel the fire for the rumours. Although JYP hasn't denied them at the moment, people still continue to trash your name. You guys need to stay away. Riley, try again," Renee instructed.
"...I don't know any other leaders," Riley muttered under her breath.
"WHAT?!" Mari yelled. "What about Soobin?! S.Coups?! RM???"
"Shush! It's not that I don't know any other ones, but its more that I don't look up to any of them as much as I look up to Chan! Who else am I supposed to say?!"
"Say TWICE's Jihyo then," Renee said. "She's a leader with lots of experience and she also has the respect of her members. She's a good inspiration for this group."

Riley nodded, a bit sad that her answer had been shut down, and slumped back into her seat.

"Robin, if you weren't an idol, what career would you have?"
"Easy! I would be a streamer! That's what I was going to do anyways."

Renee winced at the answer, clearly not too pleased.

"It's really good that you have some truth into it, but maybe show a little more hesitancy? Your fans will want to see that you truly chose being an idol over anything else."

Robin nodded her head and quickly reapplied the changes.

"That's a really hard question but... I think I would probably be a streamer if I wasn't an idol."

Renee sent her a proud thumbs up before moving onto the next question. "Lanhua, you're often considered to be the mother of the group. Who would you say your favourite and least favourite child is?"

Lanhua thought about it for a moment and then turned to Renee with a perfectly practiced smile.

"I never have a favourite or a least favourite, but at the moment, the one who is causing me the least trouble is Mari and the one who is causing me the most trouble is Alaska. So take that as you will," she said before also adding a twinkle-sounding laugh.

Renee nodded and tilted her head slightly.

"Do you think you could make it less... perfect? I think the fans will want to see a little more genuinity in your answers, even though that really was a spot on response."

Lanhua sent a smile in Renee's direction (a genuine one) and Renee moved onto Alaska.

"Alaska, what would you say is your biggest strength when it comes to being an idol?"
"I think my biggest strength is my desire to improve. I don't like to settle for anything less than perfection and I want to make sure that I can put on the best performance for Sweeties every single time."

Renee seemed happy with that answer as she had nothing to say and moved onto Mari.

With Renee's attention no longer on her, Alaska turned around to both Riley and Mya who were behind her and stuck out her tongue teasingly.

Riley sent a tongue back and Mya rolled her eyes.

"Mari, I heard that you used to stay after school every single day for a K-pop dance club, can you tell us a little more about it?"

The centre straightened up, clearly happy about her question.

"I was part of my dance club for school; I was captain, actually. I always had the best time dancing with them which is part of what helped fuel my want to be an idol."

Renee scribbled something down on her clipboard quickly before evaluating what she wrote.

"Mari, I like where its going, but also make sure you pause for reactions from the hosts or anyone else. And girls, we'll work on your responses later."

Mari seemed to accept the criticism and Renee turned to the final member of the group.

"Mya, you mentioned before that you are a big fan of musical theatre. What's your favourite song to perform and can you sing a little bit?"

Mya beamed widely, her eyes lighting up along with the question.

"Currently, my favourite song is definitely 'Suddenly Seymour' from Little Shop of Horrors! I'll sing a little bit from the chorus."

As Mya began to sing, Renee began to write again, taking careful care to look over the girl's answer.

"Mya, that was good, but if you feel that that's not a song you can comfortably sing that day, choose a slightly easier one so you don't risk showing off mishaps during the interview."

The maknae nodded seriously and began running a list of alternatives through her head.

Satisfied with the training, Renee quickly scanned her notes to see if there was any outstanding critique she had. When she found none, the manager beamed brightly.

Thank goodness this had been a success, otherwise who knows how long these girls would've been stuck here.

"Other than that girls, we can wrap up for today. We'll be focusing on the photoshoot for concept one in two days. You have a day off tomorrow!"
