Changes

We had finally arrived at where Diego said Allison was located.

"Come on! Let's go!" Five yelled grabbing my arm and running inside with the others.

Allison laid on the ground. Her throat slit, holding onto life by a thread.

"I don't think she's breathing." Luther yelled crouching down next to her.

I was never close with Allison in fact, for most our childhood I hated her. But seeing her like this, I couldn't respond, I couldn't move.

Five once again grabbing my hand trying to snap me out of my own thoughts.

-β˜‚οΈŽ-

"If we don't get her upstairs, she's gonna die." Klaus panicked running into the house.

"She's suffered a severe laceration to her larynx." Grace spoke rushing Allison to the med room. (?) "One of you will need to give blood."

"I will." All the boys answered. I would but needles.. Not my thing, not Diegos either.

"I will. I'm doing it." Luther stepped up.

"I'm afraid that's not possible, dear boy. Your blood is more compatible with mine." Pogo replied.

"Hey, don't sweat it. I got this, big guy.Β I love needles." Klaus stepped up next.

"Master Klaus. Your blood is... How shall I say this? Too polluted."

"Move. Yeah, go on. I'll do it." Diego spoke making me question his life decisions. He then saw the needle and proceeded to faint. I decided to hide behind Five so I wouldn't faint as well.

"Stick him." Pogo told Grace.

-β˜‚οΈŽ-

"The bastard that nearly killed our sister's still out there, with Vanya." Diego spoke, he had finally woken up after a while of me slapping him in the face to wake up. "We need to go after her."

"Vanya is not important." Five replied.

"Hey, that's our sister." I yelled at him and slapped him upside the head.

"Yeah, a little heartless even for you, Five." Diego backed me up.

"I'm not saying I don't care about her, but if the apocalypse happens today, she dies along with the other seven billion of us." Five sighed. "Harold Jenkins is our first priority."

"I agree. Let's go."

"You guys count me out." Klaus spoke out of nowhere. "I mean, you know, no offense or whatever. It's just I kind of feel like this is a whole lot of pressure for newly-sober me, so-"

"You're coming." I responded.

"No, no, no. I mean, I think we can all agree that my power's I mean, it's pretty much useless.
I'd just be holding you guys back."

"Klaus, get up."

"You can't make me."

Diego threw a knife which just missed his crotch.

"Oh, then again, a little exercise couldn't hurt." He sighed.

-β˜‚οΈŽ-

"It's not exactly what I was expecting." Klaus muttered looking around at the dead Leonard Peabody's.. Well, body.

"The understatement of the year." I replied.

"No sign of Vanya."

"Let's get out of here, before the cops come."

"In a minute." Five replied walking up to the body and taking the prosthetic eye out of his hand. He then proceeded to shove it in Peabody's eye-socket.

"Come on, Five, what are you-" Diego said disgusted.

"Ugh," Klaus responded.

"Wow." I grimaced.

"Same eye color, same pupil size. Guys this is it. The eye I've been carrying around for decades, It's found its rightful home. We got the guy we needed to kill to stop the apocalypse." Five spoke, I saw a small glint in his eyes. He was finally happy.

"Yay! Let's go." Klaus yelled in Glee.

"No, no. Wait, wait. It can't be this easy." Five spoke. "Look, this is the note that I got from the Commission. The one that says, "Protect Harold Jenkins," aka Leonard Peabody."

"Yeah?" We all questioned.

"But who killed him? Who did this?"

"I have a crazy idea. Crazy, but why don't we find Vanya and ask her what happened?" Klaus spoke.

"If Vanya got away from this asshole, she might be headed back to the Academy."

-β˜‚οΈŽ-

"No sign of Vanya." I spoke meeting up with the others.

"She's not in any of the rooms."

"She's not downstairs, either."

"Well, I'm out." Diego spoke walking away.

"Wait. Where are you going? Vanya's still out there, and so are Hazel and Cha-Cha." Five spoke.

"I know. I'm gonna get my things and then I'm outta here. I got some unfinished business with those fools."

-β˜‚οΈŽ-

"Hey, did Dad say anything about the apocalypse when you spoke to him?" Five sighed as we all walked down the stairs. "Any clues as to how it happened?"

"No. No clues. Truly terrific shave. But no clues." Klaus sighed. "You know, come to think of it, he did mention something about my potential, and how I've barely even scratched the surface of my-"

"How did he know about the apocalypse?" I questioned.

"I don't know, but listen. Five." Klaus spoke pointing to Five. "This whole jumping through time thing of yours, how did How did you know how to do that?"

"I didn't. You'd realise that if you were actually sober." Five retorted.

"Hey, he is sober." I spoke slapping fives arm.

"I've been sober for two- Almost two days now. Yeah, two days.Β It feels like 45 years." Klaus continued.

"Who are you kidding, Klaus? I've seen you fidgeting all day."Β

"Well, I guess we're both fighting our addictions, then." Klaus spoke rather sassily.

"I'm not an addict."

"Yeah, you are. You're addicted to a drug called the apocalypse."

"You're wrong."

"First sign. Denial." I spoke getting an evil-eye from Five.

"You and I, we're not the same." He spoke pointing at Klaus accusingly.

"I've seen that look in the eye of someone who doesn't know who they are without their high anymore. Trust me. You gotta just let it go." Klaus spoke which made Five take the fake eye out of his pocket, smashing it on the floor.

"Figuratively, but yeah, that works, too."

-β˜‚οΈŽ-

"Well, do you think we really did it? Think we actually stopped the apocalypse?" Five spoke out of the blue. We had been downstairs at the bar drinking margaritas for a little while now.Β

"I don't kno-" I responded before being cut off.

"Wasn't talking to you, Y/n." Five responded pointing to his mannequin friend, Patricia. "Now what? I don't know." He continued turning towards the mannequin.

"I'm open to suggestions." He spoke looking at me.

"Oh now you want to talk to m-"

Knock Knock

"Eh, I'll get it." He smiled wittily.

"Well, you attacked our house, tried to kill my family, and kidnapped my brother." I heard as I stepped closer to the door.

"Well, there's not much I can do about the past. I'm not the only killer in this room. You two got your own bloody history." Hazel spoke glancing at me slightly. "Speaking of which, that job you did in Calhoun, that shit's legendary. Can't believe I'm actually sittin' here talkin' to you, after all-"

"Hazel, why are you here?" Five interrupted.

"Well, I'm, you know-" Hazel spoke before being interrupted once again but this time, it was..

"Diego, stop!" I yelled.

"Get up!" He spoke to Hazel, ignoring me.Β

"You know, before you kill him, you might wanna hear what he has to say." Five spoke not seeming very phased by what was happening.

"I'm gonna kill you for what you did to Patch." Diego continued ignoring Five too.

"Or don't. See how that goes."

All of a sudden Diego started bitting Hazel making both Five and I breathe in sharply.

"That's gotta hurt."

"Yup."Β

Five spatial jumped and hit Diego over the head with a vase, knocking him out instantly. "I draw the line at biting."

"FIVE WHAT THE FUCK?" I yelled running over to Diego scared that he may have more brain damage than he already had before, ngl that was kinda ho- NOPE.

"Hazel, whatever you came here to say, I suggest you make it quick, before he comes round." Five spoke to Hazel.

"I left my partner, quit the Commission, came to volunteer."

"For what?" I questioned still holding Diego's head on my lap.

"To help stop the apocalypse."

"Hm." Five and I chuckled.

"What on earth could be so funny to you two right now?"

"Before I answer that, why do you wanna help us?" Five questioned.

"Let's just say I have a vested interest in a doughnut shop."

"Aw I always loved Agnes, she was so nice." I mumbled smiling to myself.

"Well, I hate to break it to you, pal, but you're a day late and a dollar short. The fact that you're here right now means, without a shadow of a doubt, that the apocalypse is over."

"Really? How do you know?"

"The mark is dead." I spoke.Β

"Found him this morning." Five continued. "You were the last known unknown left in the equation. And if you're out, then Hellrider ain't riding."

"Oh!" Hazel breathed deeply in relief. "All right. So now what?"

"You know, to be honest, I don't know. I've been chasing this thing for so long, I never really thought about the day after." Five sighed.

"What about you?" Hazel questioned turning to me.

"I don't really know either. Try to keep Diego out of trouble like I used to? Guess I have to do the same with Five now." I spoke looking down at Diego and smiling at Five. "You?"

"I'm done with all this madness. Time to start over. You should do the same."

"That's easier said than done." Five spoke looking down at the ground.

"It doesn't have to be hard. I mean, think about it like this. If you never time traveled, you never got caught up with the Handler, what would have happened?" Hazel questioned.

"I guess I would have grown up to be an emotionally stunted man-child like everybody else around here."Β

"Hey!" I yelled giving Five an angry glare to which he replied with a very fake and sarcastic smile.

"Well, there you go. Now you can grow up. Good luck." Hazel spoke getting up and beginning to walk away.

"Hazel. One more thing before you go."

"Shoot."

"Which one of you was the trigger man for Detective Patch?"

"Trigger woman."

"Huh. That's too bad."Β

"That gun could have cleared our brother's name." I interrupted looking down at Diego again.

"Well, today's your lucky day, amigos. Take 'em both." Hazel spoke putting 2 guns on the bar counter. "I'm done with this life."

-β˜‚οΈŽ-

"Shit." Diego spoke sitting up.

"Good, you're up." Five spoke.

"Morning." I spoke standing up behind him making him jump.

"Jesus Christ." He muttered.

"Ready for a drink now?" Five questioned.

"Where is he?" Diego spoke finally coming to his senses.

"I let him go."

"You what?"

"Now that the apocalypse is over, it's time for the fighting to stop."

"Hey, he didn't kill Patch. His partner Cha-Cha did." I spoke trying to calm him down as Five wasn't very good at that sort of stuff.

"So what? They were both there that night."

"This half of the partnership gave me both of their guns. Which will clear you, because the ballistics will match Patch's crime scene. Hazel came here looking for a way out. He wanted a fresh start. And he happened to have in his possession the one thing that could do our family a little good." Five spoke.

"So it's time to move on." I continued.

"Not a chance."

"Suit yourself.Β I am curious. Your girlfriend, Patch. What did you like about her?" Five spoke walking along-side him.

"A lot of things. Cute butt. Nice legs." Diego responded earning a slap from me.

"OW! Be careful with this one." Diego whispered to Five to which he nodded smiling slightly.

"Anything a little more profound than that?"

"She believed in people. No matter how much shit and filth she saw on the streets. She always saw the good inside."

"Well, I'm sure she'll be proud to know that you're killing Hazel and Cha-Cha as a way to honour her memory."

-β˜‚οΈŽ-

"You locked up our sister because you think she has powers." Klaus spoke from inside the room Luther brought us in.

"No, I know she does. Pogo told me. He's always known, and so did Dad." Luther replied.

"Why would they hide this from us? I mean, am I the only one that didn't know this place existed?" Diego spoke staring at the cage like structure Luther had put Vanya in.

Β "He hid so much from us." I mumbled walking closer to the cage.

"He hid it because he was afraid of her." Luther spoke putting his hand in front of me emphasising the her.

"Oh, that's ridiculous." Klaus spoke.

"Is it? Dad's lied about everything else, why is this so far-fetched?"

"If you're right, then maybe she's the one who killed Peabody. And cut Allison's throat." Diego spoke looking at me trying to still get to Vanya

"No. She would never do that, now let me in there." I spoke tears falling from my eyes as Diego pulled me into a hug.Β

"Let's go back, all right? This is Vanya we're talking about." Klaus spoke dumbfounded. "Our sister. The one who always cried when we stepped on ants as kids."

"I know it's difficult to accept-"

"It's not difficult to accept, it's impossible to accept." Klaus spoke rather angry.

"No, he's right. Look, we can't keep her locked up without proof." Diego spoke finally letting go of me.

"What more proof do you need?"

"Why don't we just open the door and ask her?" I questioned sadness turned into anger.

"No, she's not goin' anywhere." Luther death glared me to which I returned.

"No, even if you're right, she needs our help, and we can't do that if she's locked in a cage." Diego responded pushing me slightly behind him like a protective big brother.

"Yeah, and for all we know, she might be struggling with this new power. I mean, it must be scary. Terrifying, really, to discover that you can do something that you never thought you could do." Klaus continued from where Diego left off.

"Look, if what Pogo told me is even half true, then she is not just a danger to us."

"Allison, what are you doing down here?" Luther spoke as we heard Allison's foot steps. "You should be in bed."

'Let her go.' Allison wrote on her note pad.

"I can't do that. She hurt you."Β

"I'm gonna hurt you in a second if you don-" I spoke launching myself towards Luther before being grabbed by Diego.

'My fault' Allison wrote on her notepad concerning Luther's last statement.

"I'm sorry, but she's staying put." Luther continued as Allison stormed towards the cage. "Just until we know what we're dealing with. She stays put." Is the last thing I heard from Luther before being dragged out of the room by Diego.
