chapter 5- The wolves

"When someone loves you, the way they talk about you is different. You feel safe and comfortable."
― Jess C. Scott,

"Is he alright?" The elder boy asks. "Further in." Mr Beaver scurries off, Susan grabs Peter by the arm "Peter, we don't know what you are doing."

"She's right. How do we know we can trust this beaver?" Edmund asks his siblings pointing to Mr. Beaver. "He says he knows the faun." "Mr tumnus." Alex corrects huffing, it was like people refused to listen to him and Lucy.  "He's a beaver...he shouldn't be saying anything!" Susan argues waving her hands around. "Is everything alright?" Mr Beaver asks the children. "Yes. We were just talking." Peter says, giving him a polite smile. "That's better left for safer corners." Mr Beaver tells the lot. "He means the trees." Lucy says.

They walk to Beaver's dam through the cliffs under a bridge and then they see the Dam "There is home sweet home." the small creature tells them. "Oh, what a beautiful dam Mr. Beaver." The youngest Pevensie tells him. "Merely a trifle."

"Is that you Beaver? I find out you've been out with Badger again I'll...Oh, they're not Badgers. I never thought I would see this day." a new voice is heard and turns to Mr. Beaver "You couldn't give me ten minutes warning...look at this fur." Alex guesses this is his wife. "I would have given you a week if I thought it would help." "Well you must be cold and hungry. Let's get you inside for some food and civilized conversation."

Alex, Lucy, Susan & Peter follow Mrs. Beaver inside, Edmund see's Jadis's castle...right where it's supposed to be. "Enjoying the scenery, are we?" Mr. Beaver inquires Edmund shakes off that comment, & enters the dam. Mr. Beaver follows him. Mrs. Beaver to Lucy "Fish and sticks, dear." Peter turns to mr beaver "is there nothing we can do about Mr. Tumnus?"

"well.. There's hope!" the beaver wife tells him. "Yeah, there's a load full of hope... Aslan is on the move." Mr Beaver says full of hope. "Who's Aslan?" the eldest boy asks. Mr. Beaver laughs.. Mrs. Beaver sees they are serious and lays her hand on Mr. Beaver "Aslan....you silly little blighter.....you don't know do you?" the beaver looked as if he couldn't believe what they had just said. "Well we haven't actually been here very long" Peter says, giving a chuckle.

"He's only the king, the whole wood, the true king of Narnia.... and he's waiting for you!" Mrs Beaver tells the children full of excitement. "Waiting for us?" Lucy asks the couple. "You gotta be joking! Look, Aslan's return, Tumnus' arrest.....the secret police! They're all happening because of you!" Mr Beaver tells the girl. "You're blaming us?" Susan enquiries "Not blaming you dear, thanking you." Mrs. Beaver corrects the girl.

Her husband then says "There's....a prophecy, When Adam's flesh and Adam's bone sits in Cair Paravel in the throne the evil is over and done."

"You know that doesn't really rhyme." Susan points out. "I know, but you're missing the point!" The beaver tells the girl. "It's long been told that three sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve will appear to defeat the White Witch, and restore peace to Narnia." mrs Beaver said softly.

"It's long been told that three sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve will appear to defeat the White Witch, and restore peace to Narnia." Mrs Beaver said softly. "And you think we're the ones?" Alex asked in disbelief. "Well you'd better be, Aslan's already fitted out your Army!" The male beaver told the children.

"I think you've made a mistake; we're not heroes!" Alex tells the creature. "We're from Finchley!" Susan then says. "I think it's time we were going." Peter suggested. "But what about Mr. Tumnus?" the small girl inquires, her gaze falling on her eldest brother. "Peter, we have to help Mr. Tumnus." Alex speaks towards the blonde.

"Sorry Lucy. It's out of our hands ." Peter lets out a sigh. "Thank you for your hospitality." Thanks, Susan. "Ed, time to go- Ed?" everyone looks around the room "I'm going to kill Him." Peter groans.

"You may not have to...Has Edmund been to Narnia before?" Mr Beaver asks. the others attempt to try and catch up to him. "Hurry up!" Alex shouts as his older brother's instincts come out. They reach the top of the hill and see Ed going through the Witch's castle gates Lucy begins shouting "Edmund!"

Mr. Beaver whispers yells "Shh! They'll hear ya!" Alex starts to run after Edmund but Mr. Beaver grabs him by the sleeve of his coat "Get off me! I need to get my brother." "We just can't let him go!" Peter fights back. "Don't you get it?! He's the bait! She wants all of ya in there!!! To kill ya!"

"It's entirely your fault! If you had just listened to me in the first place, none of this would have happened!" Susan yells angrily at the both of her brothers. "Did you know this was going to be happening?" Peter retaliates by yelling back. "I had no idea what was going to happen..." Susan begins to stutter.

"This fighting isn't going to help Edmund," says Alex. "He is right. Right now, only Aslan can rescue him," the beaver answers. "Then take us to him.'' Peter said as if it was the most obvious thing to do.

They are all now back in mr beavers house "Take them!" A wolf growls. "Hurry, they are after us!" Mr Beaver tells the children. "right then..." Alex hears Mrs beaver. "What is she doing?" Susan asks as Mrs Beaver begins doing something.

"Don't worry, you'll thank me later. It's a long journey and a beaver gets cranky when he's hungry." Mrs Beaver tells them. "I'M CRANKY NOW!" "Do you think we should bring jam?" Susan asks them all, holding a glass jar full of a red substance.

"Only if the Witch has toast." Alex remarks sarcastically They all climb inside the tunnel "This should lead to Aslan's" the male beaver tells them. "I thought it would lead to your mums!" His wife shouts. Lucy falls when she hears the wolves howling "They're in the tunnel!"

They run further, but ultimately come to a dead end. "You should have brought a map!" Mrs Beaver tells her husband waving her arms to the dead end. Mr Beaver scratched his head "There was no room next to the jam!" He jumps out of the hole. Everyone else follows. Once Peter gets out, Lucy falls on a bunch of stone things.

The younger girl gets up! They all look to see stone animals. Mr. Beaver looks at a stone animal "He was my best mate!" the animal then begins to cry.
