Romeo Lee

I watched as the old man gave Huntress one last look and finally stepped out of the room. I jumped down to her bedroom balcony from a nearby tree. I opened the balcony door, and quietly entered the room. I walked toward the bed and stood by the foot and looked down at her. I heard Winter growled.

“Shhh… easy girl,” I whispered, “I mean your lady no harm. I just want to check on her.”

Winter relaxed her stance and let me through. I reached the edge of her bed and looked down at her. She was still asleep. Who wouldn’t be? After all that? I thought. I moved closer and sat beside her on her bed; I reached for her face and pushed a strand of hair away.

“How could we be foes?” I whispered, “A cruelty of fate?” I asked still studying her face, “It’ll be hard for me to kill you, love. I don’t think I could forgive myself though.” Then I ran my hand through her face, she stir and woke up.

“Mmm… Hunter?” she says. I smiled, then I saw her face change reaction, “Your not…” she opens her eyes to see, “Who are you?” she asked, squinting her eyes to see clearer.

“Your Prince…” I whispered, “Take care, my Juliet.”

Then I reached for her hand and kissed it. I felt my mark heat up, then I turned to leave, I can sense the brother coming. But I knelt down at Winter and whispered, “Guard her well faithful one.” The tiger brushed her nose in my hand and then I ran off to where I entered. I jumped toward the tree and hid in the darkness. I saw Huntress sat up, swaying a bit, she reached for her forehead, she was trying to take control of her sight, she stared at the terrace door, I saw her brother enter her room. he ran to her side in an instant. And was across where I was sitting a while ago.

“Huntress? Is something wrong?” he asked. she looked at him, blankly, but I can see that that worried him more.

But she smiled and shook her head, “Just a bit dazed, what happened?” I smiled.

“You summoned for Master Shisek,” he said walking toward the terrace door and closed it then he walked back to her, “How are you feeling?”

“Fine, I guess,” I heard her say, looking out at the window, looking for me. Then she flinches, I sat up and saw her reach for her wound, Hunter reached for her and pushed her back to bed, “If you leave the whole body pain thing.” she added.

Hunter laughs and so did I, relieved. “That’ll bleed for a while, so rest.” Hunter pulled her comforter up to her chin and tucked her in and sat there looking down at her. “Master Shisek said you’ll be up on your feet tomorrow. But I’d rather if you didn’t.” he paused, “You and Lei got us really worried tonight.”

I frowned; I was as worried of her as he was. I did my own search of her but could not trace her, and when I gave up searching for her through mind, I flew all over the city to at least try finding her through senses. But I still didn’t find her. I saw her look away and nodded, “I’m sorry, it was my fault. I shouldn’t have… Where’s Lei? How is she?”

“Downstairs, I patched up her wound. It’ll take time to fully heal too. But she can manage.” He said, reassuringly, she nodded again. “Anyway, are you hungry? Mom’s force feeding everyone downstairs with spring rolls. She was trying to distract herself early tonight when she realized she made too much.”

They both laughed, then she flinched again, but she didn’t care at all. “Well?” he asks again.

“No…” I whispered for me to hear alone, “Rest now, love.”

She shook her head, I smiled. “No thank you, I just want to rest for awhile. Maybe a glass of blood though. I can feel a little burn.”

“Ok, we’ll check on you later.” Hunter said, and he leaned over and kissed her on the forehead.

She smiled and closed her eyes. Hunter smiled and stood up; then something caught his eyes on the floor, he picked it up, a rose. I reached for my chest pocket, realizing I dropped the rose I was wearing. I watched him as he looked at Huntress then outside the window, scanning the darkness. He sniffed the rose but got no scent but of the rose’s fragrance. He sighed and placed it on Huntress’ side table and then turns to leave. I saw his panther follow him but he stopped, “Stay Shadow, attack intruders.” Winter growled, Hunter looked at her, “I know you can guard her on your own Winter. Shadow’s here to guard the both of you for me.”

Winter then walked up to Huntress’ bed and lied down by her feet, I smiled. Hunter laughs and finally leaves. Then after a few minutes I saw Huntress sat up again and reached for the rose, Shadow growled.

“Hush Shadow, I’m not doing anything wrong.” I said, “My prince…”

Then she looked out the window again, wondering, then Winter purred and looked up at her, “I don’t think that would be the last time we’ll see him, Winter. Let’s just be on the safe side.”

Winter purred again, agreeing.

Then she lied down, smelled the rose, smiled and closed her eyes, the rose still in hand. I watched her until she fell asleep. Then when everyone in the house was asleep, and the others had already left, I summoned my wings and left.

A few minutes later I arrived at my home and landed at my balcony, it was like I never even left. I was in my bathroom a towel around my waist and looked at my reflection on the fogged up mirror, I smiled, remembering how Huntress smelled and felt. I chuckled and stepped out of bath room.

“There you are!” my sister shouted, she was already on my bed, waiting for me.

“And hello to you too.” I said. I glanced over to the clock on my side table, twelve thirty, “Why are you still up?”

“I should ask you the same question.” She said. “Where have you been? We lost you after the introduction of the celebrant.”

“Nowhere.” I said, “Just here, reading.”

“Liar,” she said, and then she raised a piece of feather. “You went to visit her again didn’t you?” I sighed and didn’t answer. I picked up the pajamas’ pants. “Didn’t you?” she asked again.

I smiled and twirled my pointy finger, telling her to turn around. And she did.

“What is it to you if I did?” I asked, putting on the pants and slipping off the towel, and hanged it back up at the bathroom.

“Nothing.” She said, turned to face me again. “It’s just so romantic.”  She sighed.

I chuckled again, “Well, I’m glad one of us thinks so.”

She frowned, “You know, you don’t have to believe everything Tyron says.”

“I know,” I said, I know how my sister felt about my mentor, and I can’t question her. Tyron wasn’t actually the best person to trust. He ones pushed Guillenne out of the window, saying that she was nuisance to me. Since then I had my doubts about Tyron. “But he’s the only one who gives me the answers that I need.”

“Well, maybe she can help you.” Guillenne said, referring to Huntress.

“No,” I shook my head, “The last thing I want is for Tyron to find out about my late night visits. He’d probably throw a fit and hunt her down.” I lied down on my bed and looked up unto the ceiling.

Then Guillenne knelt and looked down at me right from above. Her hair brushing my face, “You do like her don’t you big brother?”

I grinned at her, shaking my head.

“C’mon, admit it.” she teased, “Huntress and Romeo Lee sitting on a tree, K-I-S-S-“

I grabbed wrist and pulled her toward me and started tickling her, she was laughing out loud, and I wrapped my arms around her so she won’t escape.

“No more!” she shouted out of breath, “No more!”

I let her go and laughed, “You were saying?”

“K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” she shouted faster and tried to move away from me and fell on the edge of my bed down on the floor, “Ow…” I heard her say between laugh.

I knelt on my bed and looked down at her and laughed, “Are you ok?”

“Yeah, just lost my pride.” she said, then she rolled and sat up. I sat back and looked down at her. “But seriously Romeo Lee, you do like her, don’t you?”

I sighed and lied back down, “That’s not even half of what I feel.”

“Then maybe you could ask her for help. I’d surely like that more, rather than knowing you’re with Tyron.” She said a note of worry in her voice.

“Maybe Guillenne.” I said, “Maybe…”
