Huntress

NSA didn’t change much since we left for Tibet almost two years ago. The only difference my brother and I noticed were the bullies taking charge of the place. I stepped out of the principals’ office after I took my schedule and other necessary papers. Hunter stood beside me as we walked through the hallway, some of the students watching us.

“Hmm, I got P.E today. That would be fun.” Hunter said beside me.

I grinned as I watch him check his schedule; I walked up to a locker and opened it. He looked up and sees me fixing my things.

“This is your locker?” he asked.

                                “Yeah, where’s yours?” I asked.

“In a totally different galaxy,” he sighed, “but we were always locker neighbors.”

I grinned seeing him looking disappointed adn frustrated, we always got what we want, and it was no surprise why he was looking like a kid that was lied to going to Disney World.

“Well, not this year.” I said. “Maybe you can fix it up in the office. It is after all grandfather’s rule or something.”

“Now she uses her powers.” He teased; I raised a brow, “Mortal powers I mean. Anyway, yeah, I’d go check on it in the office. Wait for me, ok?”

“Sure, I’ll just get settled.” I said.

Hunter nods and ran back in the office. I fixed my things in my locker and hanged my coat inside, then I took out the books that I don’t need until after lunch and fixed them at the top shelf. Suddenly I heard a locker door slammed shut loud enough for everyone to hear. Students started to look at what was happening, but then when they saw who it was they turned as if they saw nothing.

I watched as a group of boys were pushing a girl around, with one boy holding up a pair of eyeglasses. I sighed and shook my head and looked back in my locker.

Not today Huntress, it's your first day. I told myself.

Then I heard another crash, this time the boy pushed the girl in her locker, she dropped down on the floor.

                                That’s it, I thought.

I swung my bag over my shoulder, closed my locker door shut and walked up to the boys.

I reached the boys and walked up to the one who seemed to be their leader. I grabbed the girl’s eyeglasses pushed him aside and passed by him.

                                “Hey!” I heard him shout.

I knelt down and reached for the girl, “Hey, you ok?”

The girl looked up at me, I handed her the eyeglasses. She puts it on and stared at me.

“Oh, look here boys, a good Samaritan.”

The boys laughed. The girl fidgets.

“C’mon, let’s get you out of here.” I said to her.

She quickly nods, and picked up her things and stood up. We started to walk away when one of the boys grabbed me by the arm. I flinched. I hate it when people touch me like that. I moved back and pulled my hand from his grip and pushed him away.

“Who the hell do you think you are, bitch?” the boy said.

The girl stops and looked back. I smiled at her, “Go on, I’ll take care of this.”

“T- thank you.” the girls stammered and walked back.

I turned and faced him, “What did you just call me?” The boy was caught off guard, and was surprised. “Haven’t change a bit huh Ivan?”

                                “H- Huntress?” he stammered.

“The one and only.” I said with a smile.

                                “Huntress, I – I didn’t know you were back.”

“So I’ve noticed. I was just gone for a couple of years and you’ve already ruled the place.”

He forced a small laugh, “Well, yeah, someone has to keep these guys in line, you know what I mean? Someone needs to keep watch over these maggots.”

“That’s what you say.” I glared at him, “But I’m back now. And I don’t want any trouble from anyone. I’ll keep an eye on things from now on.”

“Yeah, of course…” he said in a whisper.

“And expect some changes,” I moved in closer and whispered to his ear, “big ones.”

Ivan moved back and bumps into someone behind him. He turns and sees Hunter.

“I hope my sister made herself quite clear, Ivan.”

                                “Crystal” Ivan answers.

I smiled, “Good.” Then I hit him hard on the stomach making him cringe with pain, I walked toward Hunter who gave a satisfied smile and we left.

And I can feel Ivan glaring at us from behind.
