Jed's POV

Meanwhile, at home, Hunter, Mave and I were trying to reach the girls through mind out in the terrace where they could see the city. I entered the house, dizzy.

“You look tired.” Iris said, worriedly.

“Really?” I asked, “I feel much worse than tired.”  He sighed, “Didn’t Huntress tell you anything about her vision?”

“No,” Iris said shaking her head, “She just looked a bit worried.”

I sighed again and think. Then we hear Hunter curse.

“How are the two taking it?” Iris asked.

“Taking what exactly?” I asked. “That the girls could be in trouble or not being able to contact them through phone, mind or evil eye? Cause either way, they don’t like it.” I shook my head, “It isn’t good for them either. I wouldn’t be surprise if they dropped down on their knees, dead tired. The only one who could last this long with the use of psych is Huntress.”

Iris looked away, more worried now. She was worried of the girls and of the boys. Then I looked toward Taea, who was sitting at the same chair where we initiated her as quick as we can so we can go find Lei and Huntress. She was looking at us, then away.  Then she closed her eyes, I watched her carefully, then I saw her powers radiate out of her, was this how she listen to the world? I thought. We assured her that we knew and understand her special ability, that her help will be greatly appreciated. And she put it into good use to listen to the earth and plants for news. Suddenly she her face glows and she smiled and then opened her eyes and looked my way.

“They’re here.” she said. Iris and I sat up, “They’re just around the corner.”

“Hunter! Mave! They’re here!” I called out, “Taea can hear them!”

Mave and Hunter ran into the room, with dark circles underneath their eyes, and looked at Taea.

“Are you sure Taea?” Hunter asked.       Taea nodded. Then they heard the gates opening.

We all rushed to the main hall, I smelled blood, growing more worried, and we all saw Lei and Huntress enter the door bloody and bruised. The guards ran to Huntress’ side, but Huntress moved away from them, despite her injuries, then Hunter grabbed the wooden hand rail and jumped over and down by the stairs, unscathed.

“Get away from her!” Hunter called out as he ran to her side, I saw Huntress smile, Hunter was also radiating his powers, then Huntress dropped on her knees. Hunter knelt beside her and helped her sit up, her eyes were half closed and were squinting. Then Huntress flinched and closed her eyes, in pain.

“Huntress? Huntress, wake up…” Hunter whispered in her ear. Her mouth speaking but no sound came out, she took a deep breath, how she overpowered the smell of blood, we didn’t know. But none of us seemed to be bothered by it either.

                                “What happened?” Hunter asked Lei.

I walked over and knelt in front of Hunter and Huntress and put my hand on Huntress’ forehead, looking through everything that had just happened. Then Lei answered, I listened to every word she said.

“She got stabbed twice; she lost a lot of blood. Though her first wound had already healed, the one on her shoulder haven’t.” Lei said, with her arms around her own wound, Mave was at her side, holding unto her.

“And you? Are you ok?” Mave asked.

Lei gave a nod, “A bit, my wound hasn’t quite healed yet.” She said looking down at her burn.

Then I heard Huntress thinking, tell Hunter… she thought.

What do you want to tell Hunter? I asked.

                                Rough Rider… Blue Eyed…

                                What about them?

Then she flinched again, and our contact was lost. I tried to see what happened again but everything was a blur.

                                “Hunter…” she whispered.

Hunter looked at her, relieved, “Hey…” he whispered with a smile, “I’m here, it’s ok…”

                                “Rough… Rough rider…” she whispered.

Hunter shook his head, “Forget about them first, we’ll find them when you’re healed.”

“Blue eyed Devil…” she said again. It was puzzling me.

“Hunter, she’s trying to tell you something.” I pointed out.

                                “Shh… rest Huntress…” Hunter said.

“She’s deeply bothered by this Hunter, try to listen.” I said again.

“She’d be able to tell us when she’s all healed, Jed.”

No… Huntress thought. I looked down at her, Hunter was right, she can barely think.

Sleep Huntress. Everything will be fine. I told her.

Then she flinched again, she was tired. But she was fighting sleep and the pain.

“Call master…” she said again, using all her remaining strength and concentration.

                                “It’s just mortal’s wound Huntress…” Hunter said.

“Blue eyed…” she whispered, and then she flinched again, as she tried to move her injured arm.

Only then did Hunter and I noticed her wound. “Hunter!” I said, he told me about this, about Huntress’ weak shoulder.

“No… no…” he said through his teeth, “Huntress, wake up… stay with me… I’ll call for Master Shisek… mom!” he shouted. Huntress mind was in a daze, her mind was slowly getting dark, “Mom!” he called out again.

Aunt Hannah ran out of the library, “Now really Hun-“, then she stops when she saw Huntress, and her face dropped, “Oh my God! What happened?” She ran down the stairs and toward us, quickly.

“She got stabbed, it’s fatal mom… master Shisek is the only one who could heal her.” Hunter said.

When Aunt Hannah reached us she knelt beside Hunter and ran her hand through Huntress’ hair. “Huntress, princess, mommy’s here…” she took Huntress from Hunter and put her arms around her.

“I need to go get Master Shisek.” Hunter said looking down at her.

“No need for pick up Hunter, I’m here.” A man said from behind us. We all turned and saw a very old man, holding a wooden cane almost as tall as him, wearing a grey robe.

“Master Shisek!” Hunter called, “It’s her-“

“I know Hunter, calm down… everything will be fine.” Master Shisek walked toward Huntress and eyed her. “Hm, we need to get her in her room. It’ll be painful.” Then I realized that he wasn’t addressing it to any of us, but to Huntress. I looked down at Huntress. “You know how this works Huntress.” then to our surprise, Huntress gave a small nod, making Aunt Hannah give out a sob, relieved.

“Very well, Hunter, take her to her room.” Hunter picked me up and brought me to my room. Iris ran to my mom’s side to comfort her. Then everything went black.

Fifteen minutes later, Master Shisek stepped out of her room, in the hall, where we were waiting.

Aunt Hannah sat up, “How is she Master Shisek?” she asked. She held unto Uncle Tristan’s hand, and Uncle Tristan held unto her. He drove home as fast as he could after Hunter called him to inform about what happened, Aunt Hannah was still in catatonic state to talk to him after we put Huntress to bed. But she calmed down when Uncle Tristan arrived.

“Will she be ok?” Lei asked.

Master Shisek glanced at Hunter, “The stab wound did hit her life source…”’ he started. Hunter whined and faced the wall, trying to calm himself. I reached for Hunter’s shoulder.

                                “Life source?” Mave asked.

“It is as you understand it.” Hunter said in a low voice, with his back at the gang. “For us, it is like Achilles’ heel. Ones it is broken beyond repair, the reincarnation will stop, and the mortal body will die.”

Aunt Hannah began to cry and hid her face in Uncle Tristan’s chest. He put his arms around her, and looked up at Master Shisek, “Will you be able to heal her Master Shisek?”

“It doesn’t seem to be that bad yet, I can still heal lit.” Master Shisek says with a small nod, Hunter turns and faced him eyes filled with hope. “But it will be more painful than she expects. It would not be like the last time Hunter, I can assure you that.”

Hunter looks away, I saw Hunter remember the memory of Huntress healing the same wound. It was during one of their training. Huntress fell on a rock and damaged the bone. The healing was much more a painful process. But by the next day it was healed, as if nothing happened. But Hunter could not forget the screaming and the pleading. He was trying to push the memory out of his mind, but was failing. And I had to let go just to stop seeing what Hunter was remembering.

“But knowing Huntress, she’ll be up on her feet tomorrow after one scream tonight.” Master Shisek says with a smile.

“Tomorrow?” I asked, “You make it sound like it isn’t as serious as it seems.”

“Huntress can read your mind even in her sleep, if you are anxious, it will make her anxious, and that wouldn’t be helpful.” Master Shisek answers, “I am here to calm you first.”

We all exchanged look, Aunt Hannah pulled herself together but was still snuggled in Uncle Tristan’s arms. The room was quiet and everyone’s breathing became relax. Master Shisek smiled.

“Much better,” he said, “There is really nothing to worry about now, one thing I learned for the hundred times that I healed Huntress is that she heals fast. She can and will heal herself. And I know she will. Now if you’ll excuse me?” Master Shisek turns to enter my room, but Hunter blocked his way.

“Please Mater Shisek, let me help you.” He asked.

But master Shisek shook his head. “I’m sorry Hunter, but it’ll better if I do this alone.” Hunter closed his fist, fighting his anger. “Your sister wouldn’t want you to see her in pain, you know that.”

Hunter looked away. Then Mater Shisek reached for his shoulder, “Besides, I need you to heal miss Lei.”

Hunter looked at Lei who was still holding her wound, but shook her head, “I’m ok Hunter, Master Shisek, Hunter should be with Huntress.”

Then Hunter shook his head.  But then Iris reached for his shoulder, Hunter looked down at her tired, “I’ll go with you.” She said. “I’ll help you.”

Hunter watched her; he took a deep breath then look up. “You,” he calls out to the guard who was standing outside Huntress’ room. “Run to the kitchen tell one of the maids to bring hot water, towels and the first aid kit in the healing room.”

“Yes Master Hunter.” the guard ran off to the kitchen.

“I’ll help Master Shisek, son…” Uncle Tristan tells Hunter, “Go fix Lei up.”

Aunt Hannah pulled out of Uncle Tristan’s hold, “I’ll come and help you.” She whispered. Hunter gave a nod, then he faced Lei.

“We need to heal your wound Lei, before it leaves a mark.” Hunter said, calmed, “You wouldn’t like that.” Then he walked pass her and walked toward the guest room.

We all watched Hunter walk away; Lei looked at Mave, “Go on, I’ll be right here in case Uncle Tristan needs something.” Mave told her with a smile. Lei nodded, then I looked at Iris who was staring at the Huntress’ bedroom door.

I walked toward her, and reached for her shoulders and whispered, “Hunter needs you. go…”

She looked up to me, her eyes blank and nodded, she was worried, I know she was, but not only because of Huntress, but because of Hunter as well.

Then Aunt Hannah stepped in beside Lei and gently took her by the arm, “C’mon Lei.” She whispered one arm over Lei’s shoulder. Lei stared at her and nodded. Then they followed Hunter.
