Leaving Camp & Emma's Highlights

And then my heart pounds. "Fleur?"

"Yeah?"

"WE ARE THE FINAL TWO."

"And guess what else?" She grins like a Cheshire Cat. "IT'S GOING TO BE A JUNGLE QUEEN."

"I can't believe how big camp looks now."

Since John left maybe twenty minutes ago, Fleur and I have been taking all of the cooking equipment and old campmates belongings up to the telegraph. All that lays in camp now are six hammocks tied up between wooden posts, and five beds propped up parallel to the fire.

"Do you want to do it?"

Fleur fills up a metal bucket that we usually use for water collection. "You can if you want?"

Fleur hands me the heavy metal bucket. "You ready?"

"Yeah." I nod. "To the jungle."

With one swift movement of my arms, I tip the bucket of water over the roaring campfire, signalling the end of our camp residency. Smoke gashes up into the blue sky and dissipates like a large firework. "It's been fun, jungle."

After a few more minutes of checking we have everything we need, a ranger plods down the camp pathway. "It's time, girls. Grab your things and make your way to the studio."

My frizzy best friend and I sling our backpacks on. "I can't believe this is it."

"I know."

When I first applied to do the show, I never thought I'd make it through the exhausting three weeks. "But we've done it."

Each green leaf that hangs onto the maroon tree branches is the frame - the dirt forms the interior of the cage we've been living in. Every twig, every stick, every log and bed and creek, I've remembered the exact location of.

"Come on, hun. Let's get going."

Fleur and I start to walk the unfamiliar path to the studio that hangs in the sky. I turn back to glimpse one final look on our second home. "Bye, jungle!" I salute.

Fleur and I then get trekking. We pass the creek, the dunny and the telegraph to an area that was previously out of bounds. "It seems so weird to go up this pathway." Fleur chuckles once we step foot on the start of a metal bridge that climbs up above the treetops.

Since we have such unnutritious food all the time, just climbing to the high altitude strains my muscles. But as if in a heartbeat, we are crossing the bridge over the shower spot where we would usually wave goodbye to previous campmates. However, no one is stood there to wave us goodbye.

"The both lasted 23 days in the jungle. One of them dressed as Santa Claus and caught flying presents, drank blended sheep's testicles in the Live Trial and taught the entire camp how to dance. The other swam in a tank full of eels and crabs, crawled through tunnels of cockroaches and green ants, and stole the heart of a certain boy band member. It's your final two! Fleur and Emma everyone!"

The wooden hut is all decked out so nicely, with red ribbons hanging from the wooden supports and varnished wooden furniture. "Oh my gosh, people!" I gasp. "This place is so Pinterest!"

"Welcome!" Holly comes and hugs me, and then Dec. "Come on you two, come and take a seat."

"There is champagne there for you both," I grab hold of my best friends hand, walk over to a bench beside a seventy inch TV, and take a seat beside her. "Now we are going to start with you, Emma. Let's take a look at some of your jungle highlights."

A large video montage pops up on the screen, and it's hard to focus on it with all of the other cameras staring me down.

The video starts, displaying me stepping on to that yacht for the first time and kissing John hello. Clip by clip, I see myself climbing high structures, entering camp for the first time, giving James a massage, the trial with the frogs in that cavern, facing the trial with Mal in 'Drown and Out', giving up my care package, the first kiss with James, the infamous 'Sax' dance, the quest across the outback, the banquet, 'Hellish Hospital', the immunity games, being asked to be James' girlfriend, 'Stars of the Silver Scream', the eggs for letters challenge, crying hysterically when I got my letter from home, 'Rotten Retrieval', the Jungle Arms, the Dolls House with Harry and John, gossiping in the creek with Fleur and Sair, Kirstie arriving, the Wall of Fame, the Celebrity Cyclone, the phone call from James and the final Jungle Bonanza ... it shows all of my time to the song 'Never Forget You'.

"Wow. That's gotten me a bit emotional," I have to blink to stop myself from crying. "It's so crazy to see that."

"You did a lot during your three weeks in there," Holly smiles. "Do you have a favourite moment?"

"Um ... I don't think so. There were so many amazing times in there, and I don't think I could pick one moment."

"But is it what you expected?"

"Never," I laugh. "And I know Fleur will agree, but when you see it on TV, the trials are the biggest part. When you're in there, it's only one hour a day, so it's camp life which is the largest part. I never realised how high the highs would be, and how hard it would get at times."

"Well let's have a look at some of the trials you did," Dec points back to the TV screen.

Another clip begins to play - a montage of all of my BushTucker trials. From standing in that massive popcorn machine with cockroaches in my bra to swimming in the water tank with Mal, shouting obscenities in the Dolls House surrounded by spiders, the trial with the frogs, crawling through the tunnels to the cage John was trapped in (Rotten Retrieval), Celebrity Cyclone of course, and the god-awful eating challenge.

"Did you think the trials would be that hard?" Holly asks while I take a sip of the glorious champagne from its vessel.

I shake my head. "They were a million times worse. But it's for food. I love food."

"Now, Emma, you had some great relationships in there."

"I did," my heart pulses - I know what's coming. "I think I know what you're going to say."

"You had good relationships with a few different people," Dec smirks. "Now let's start with the girls. You girls were like best friends in there, even with Anne."

"It's true."

"Was that because you had to be, since you're around them for 3 weeks, it was-,"

"No way." I shake my head. "All the relationships and friendships in there are completely real, and I can't put into words how much those girls mean to me. Every single one of the girls is perfect."

I place a hand on Fleur's shoulder. "And my gosh, this woman is everything I aspire to be."

"Thank you, babe." She pecks my cheek.

"Awhh," Holly grins. "Now, you were close to the guys too, but there was one guy which you grew very close to, and I mean very close."

I chuckle.

"How are you and James at the moment?"

"We're great." I smile. "It was hard to see him leave yesterday, but I'm just excited to see him again."

"Well let's have a look at some of your best moments with him," Dec swivels to look at the TV once again.

I view the screen. Depicted is a video of little moments between James and I. When we first met on the yacht, to the sweet little winks and lines we exchanged. Then our first kiss, and the video finishes when we announced our status to the rest of the campmates.

"Would you say you two were close in there?"

"Yeah,"

"Are you kidding!" Fleur laughs. "They wouldn't get off of each other!"

Holly and Dec exchange a look. "I mean, when you announced you were dating to the rest of camp, it blew up all over the nation."

"People are crazy for #Jemma," Dec blurts. "Do you think you'll stay together on the outside?"

"I hope so. I mean, I love him to bits, so I really hope things can progress from where they are. My last few weeks wouldn't have been the same without him in my life."

Holly and Dec then move onto Fleur, interviewing her about her jungle experience. As soon as they're all finished, Holly and Dec officially close the voting lines.

"When we come back after the break, we will reveal the winner of I'm A Celebrity, 2018!"

It's still strange to hear.

One of the producers cut to the advert break, and makeup artists rush Holly and Dec over to a few chairs for a quick brush and touch up.

"Can you two come over here," a man capped in black grabs Fleur and I and drags us to another part of the studio.

Fleur and I latch onto each other and are told to stand beside the almighty jungle throne. "Just stay here."

Bossy.

Then a rumble of chatting emerges, and all of a sudden, nine extremely familiar faces appear up a flight of stairs, entering the studio.

"Guys!" Fleur squeals.

Everyone looks so clean and fresh - I almost don't recognise Emily or Sair in their gorgeous dresses and makeup. I belt it over to them and jump into Emily's arms. "Hey!"

"My god, you stink!" She smiles. "I think James wants to talk to you."

I peer around like a puppy, scouting through the crowd of my beautiful campmates, until I spot my handsome boyfriend.

"Emma!" He cries, laying his eyes on my dirty body.

He's dressed in a gorgeous navy suit, fitting his slim figure perfectly. "You look amazing," I kiss his lips sensually, savouring the taste. "And smell it too."

"Thanks," he hugs my body into his chest. "Good luck. I hope you win."

The campmates are then rushed to sit down on two benches, while Fleur and I are guided back to the side of the throne.

"And we are live in 5, 4, 3, 2 ..."
