Broken Ankles & Movie Trials

"You want to see me give a lap dance to James?" I giggle in complete disbelief. "Really?"

James sits down on his almighty throne, and in front of everyone, and pats his thighs.

"You have to," he flirts. "Camp-leaders orders."

"Here she goes!" John yells as I take off my red sleeveless camp jacket and throw it to the floor. "I'm singing!"

John breaks out into a terrible version of Beyoncé's 'Partition', one of the sexiest songs of all time.

"I don't feel sexy!" I shriek, strutting over to James and placing a hand on his shoulder. "This is so bad!"

I circle my hips around, trying my best to look attractive, but it doesn't work. "Grind it!" Fleur encourages.

I turn around and circle my hips on James' shorts, causing the girls to scream. "He loves it!" Sair screeches, looking at James smug eyes.

I come to the end of the song and kiss his lips sweetly. Everyone seems to belt out in applause as I've thoroughly embarrassed myself.

"I'll um ... I'll be back in a bit," James jokily gets up and readjusts his trousers, pretending to walk to the dunny.

I'm never gonna live that down.

That evening ...

"Celebrities!" John reads. "As a result of Fleur winning 10 stars in today's trial, you have wallaby shanks..."

"Is that good?"

"No." Nick shakes his head. "But I guess we have to make do."

I have a lot of respect for Nick. He's a blunt character, but a lot like the camp dad. "We need water." John curses, draining the last drop from the water bag into his bottle. "Will you come down with me, Emma?"

"Of course."

I jump up from Fleur's hammock where we're having a lovely cuddle, and go to join John on the trek to the water pump.

"So how's camp treating you?" John asks me. "Is it good?"

"It is thanks!" I reply in the weirdest accent. "What about you, my lovely?"

"It's been great! I'm really missing Scott though."

"How does Scott feel about Christmas?"

John and I reach the stairs following down to the water pump. "Oh, he's such a Scrooge! You see that-,"

Suddenly, John takes a misstep and falls down a few of the mud-covered stairs, straight onto the ground a few feet below.

"John!" I scream, running down after him and ducking by his side.

John crawls up in a ball in agony, holding his ankle in pain.

"Nick! James!" I bellow. "Help!"

In a matter of seconds, James comes sprinting down to us, shortly followed by Malique and then Fleur. "John, are you ok?" James takes my place and helps him up from the floor.

"I can't get up," He yelps. "My ankle hurts so bad."

Malique and Fleur manage to support John and stand him up, being used as two human crutches.

I head back into camp. "John fell and hurt his ankle," I tell Sair and Anne.

Sair gasps. "Is he ok?"

"Yeah," James answers as he walks up behind me. "Mal and Fleur are taking him to the medical centre now."

After Mal and Fleur get back, we all wait out for hours, hoping to hear any news about our beloved John.

"I don't think we'll hear anything." Nick scratches his head. "Why don't we call it a night?"

Nick's right.

We all find our ways to our hammocks and beds, but the thought of John plays on my mind endlessly. "Do you think he'll be ok?" I ask James, tucking up into bed with him.

"I think so. He could put a bit of weight on it, so he should be broken-bone free."

With my head resting on the pillow, I meet James' baby-blue eyes. "I can't believe I met you."

Instead of replying, James shuffles closer and plants a soft kiss to my lips. "I don't want to leave tomorrow."

"Not a chance I'm letting you go." My boyfriend whispers in my ear.

To the sound of his gentle breathing, I let myself fall asleep, tucked up in the Palace.

The next morning ...

"I'm scared." Emily shakes.

It's that dreaded time again. Someone is leaving. "There's nothing to be scared of."

I take her hand and hold it in my own. Since the fight, our camp has been stronger than ever.

Dec and Holly wonder into camp. "Good morning,"

Gulp.

"So before we reveal who is leaving, we have a message. John is ok - he sprained his ankle. They're checking if he's ok to come back to camp."

Phew.

"So we are here to reveal who is leaving camp today."

"In no particular order,"

The butterflies are back.

"James ... it's not you."

"Fleur ... it's not you."

Holly passes through Anne, Harry and Nick.

"Sair ... it might be you."

"Emily ... it's not you."

"Emma ... it's not you."

Thank god.

"Which means Malique, it might be you."

"The public has voted and decided that the second person to leave camp is ... Malique."

And then Holly and Dec leave camp.

"You're gonna be sick at this," Malique hugs me. "Take care of my girl, yeah?"

I nod, as I know he's speaking about Fleur. "Always. She's my bestie."

Malique does his rounds of hugs and goodbyes, and out the corner of my eye, I catch Fleur and Malique sharing a gentle kiss.

As we walk to the area under the bridge, I let Fleur hold my hand. Even though they had their ups and their downs, Malique meant a lot to Fleur.

Which means he meant a lot to me.

"Bye!" We all wave up as he runs across the overhanging bridges.

It takes a while to wipe the tears from Fleur's eyes, but once she's calmed herself down, we all return to camp.

Later on ...

"I have a laminate!" Anne announces. "Celebrities, you must now pick two celebrities to face today's trial 'Stars of the Silver Scream."

Emily, Fleur, Sair and Anne immediately rule themselves out. "I'm happy to do it," I put my hand up.

"Me too. I'm sick of sitting and doing nothing." My boyfriend wraps an arm around my shoulder.

Everyone seems to agree that team Jemma (our ship name) should take on the trial.

"Good luck babe," Emily comes and squeezes me. "You and James will smash it."

James and I exit camp, walking up past the dunny and the telegraph to the bridge. It's wobbly as I step on and make my way across - I dread to think how far down it is to the jungle floor.

"Here's the happy couple!" Dec cheers when we walk in. "How are you two?"

Nervous.

"Excited!" I lie. "This looks like good fun."

In front of us are four head-boxes, each with the rolling screen of a movie theatre placed on the front. To the other side of us is a huge popcorn machine.

"So welcome to Stars of the Silver Scream." Holly smiles. "In this trial, one of you will put your heads in these boxes and try to remove the stars with only your tongue. How much time you have in each box will depend on the other celebrity."

"The other one of you will stand in the giant popcorn machine and answer questions about the films. For every right answer, you'll get twenty seconds."

I grin. "Can we eat the popcorn?"

"The golden rule is you can't eat the popcorn," Dec laughs.

After confirming that my boyfriend and I are going to take the trial on, we have to decide who is going which part.

"You're smarter than me," James nods. "Plus my movie knowledge is rubbish."

I mean I've seen a fair few movies, but that doesn't mean I'm any mastermind. However, with movie week every year on Strictly, I could be the better candidate.

"I'll go in the popcorn machine," I raise a hand.

James and I high five, before I'm chucked some goggles and thrown into the big red Perspex box.

"So let's get started." Holly smiles. "Of course there are nine stars up for grabs, and in this first box, there is one."

"This ... is brainspotting." Holly laughs. "Ok first, Emma, we're going to give you some company."

Instantaneously, a massive load of popcorn is dumped onto my head. The smell is luxurious.

But it's masked by the millions and millions of cockroaches and mealworms and crickets that are dumped into my clothes.

"Ok, here is your -,"

"They're in my bra!" I scream, shaking my shirt. "Sorry, just ask the question!"

"Who plays Mark Renton in the film Trainspotting?"

"Ewan McGregor!" I screech, being given twenty seconds.

"What city is the movie set in? Is it A-,"

"Edinburgh!"

"...That's another twenty seconds!"

I manage to answer the third question correct too, and bag a whole minute for James to get the star.

His head pops into the box, and on top of his head drops forty pigs brains. "They smell so bad!" He shrieks.

James works his tongue forcefully, spinning the first star off of the thread, meaning we get one meal for camp.

"Ok, Emma. It's time for some more company." Dec tells me. "Here comes the popcorn,"

The urge to grab all the popcorn and eat it is extraordinary, but when it's spiked with more cockroaches and crickets, my appetite disappears completely.

"They're in my pants!" I jump. "They're in my pants!"

And my boyfriend, in front of the two presenters and the whole nation...

"Those lucky buggers." He shouts, checking me out.
