42| One Day

♡♡♡
Quinn

It was a familiar feeling. When you're done with a project you've been working on for months and a feeling of pride engulfs you. They were all clapping and cheers erupted. I was done with Romance on board. It was the last day for Jason and I. Some actors had already finished a while ago though.

A wide grin spread across my face as we both bowed in courtesy at the crew and staff. A large bouquet suddenly blocked my view and I raised an eyebrow surprised. Jason emerged from behind it with a grin on his face.

"Happy Birthday again and congratulations on the movie," he smiled. The old me would have had her heart flying out of her chest at what happened but I simply just smiled.

"Thank you, it's beautiful," I told him as I read the little card he attached to the flowers.

Happy Birthday Manchester. I hope this year is filled with all the things you love and hopefully, we can meet again as main leads.

"Me too," I said.

I placed the card in the pocket of my pants. We were called for a group photo with the crew. I stood next to Shelia who have a proud look on her face the entire time.

"I'm so proud of you," Shelia sniffed as she placed a kiss on my cheeks and we took a lot of pictures with the crew members.

As always Brandon couldn't be here due to another fashion which really makes me worried about us.

"Ah, I'm so tired," I groaned as we finally got back to the van and my assistant placed the two cakes the crew got for me in the back seat.

"It's over now actress. You can rest all you want until next week because your interviews start then. You know the acting was just the beginning. From now we have different interviews and programs to attend to promote the movie," Shelia rubbed my arm as the car began moving and I shut my eyes.

I suddenly remembered that I was spending the rest of the day with the person I love the most and a smile spread across my face. I missed him so much already. I had practically been living in his apartment all this time, I think he prefers that more because of Dylan but who cares I get to be with my man.

Ohhhh, my man....

While Shelia went over my next plans with my assistant I took off my heels and wore the fluffy slippers I always keep in the van and ruffled my hair with a sigh.

"We're here," the driver announced as we got to the golden palace and I squeaked internally.

Shelia helped me get down and while she was about to give me my cake I pushed it towards her. "No you all keep it and enjoy, thanks for all the hard work... I love you, Shelia," I said and wrapped my arms around her. She hugged me back.

"We can really eat these two cakes? Really? Oh thank you so much, Quinn," Joan cooed and clasped her hands. "But I'm supposed to be on a diet.... I'll make today an exception. Just one day."

I shook my head and chuckled at her words before blowing kisses to them all and making my way into the building and straight into the elevator.

My whole body felt giddy with excitement at the thought of seeing him and as soon as the elevator opened on his floor I dashed to his door and rang the bell. I know his password but that was my way of letting him know I was there before I pressed in the password and slowly walked him.

A low breath left my mouth at the sight before me. His large living room had been turned into a restaurant with a small table and two chairs placed in the middle. The light had been dimmed down to a warm yellow color and the glass wall at the other end of the room let the view of the warm and beautiful sunset seep into the room. I love around and noticed the fairy flight decorating the walls and a tent at the end of the room where a projector was placed.

Almost as if on cue the projector blinked as a static was heard as a video came on. A low chuckle escaped my lips as Ace came on the screen looking disheveled with his black shirt and trousers. He looked at someone behind the camera and nodded before his gaze came back to me. He raised his hand as a wave and smiled. I found myself smiling too.

"Hey, love.... Um," he began and cleared his throat.

"Hey you," I breathed back to the screen.

"I know you're probably really confused right now but now that you're watching this video it means you're already here and I'm probably hiding with Harry and Kenna.... I really thought about how to make this really special for you and I know you don't like things being extra so I planned the perfect birthday for you," he paused and it looked like someone was whispering something to him behind the camera.

He rolled his eyes and brought his gaze back to me before murmuring, "With the help of Harry and Kenna we made this event."

I chuckled as I knew it was Harry behind the camera who asked him to say that.

"Now, it'll probably be time for the main event to show up-" he pointed at himself "-that's me by the way. I love you so much Quinn and I hope you really enjoy the rest of what I planned. Now please turn around."

I immediately did a one-eighty as a gasp escaped my lips and the tears gathered in my eyes. I took my hands to my lips as he gave me his million dollars smile while on a knee. He propped open the box in his hands.

"Oh Ace," I gasped as my eyes saw the most beautiful diamond-shaped ring I've ever seen. It was so perfect that I couldn't stop my tears again.

"Quinn Manchester, there are a lot of things going in the wrong direction in my life right now and we both know that. But you've always been there for me. You've made me believe that there's always hope when there's life. Thinking back I realized that I loved you since the day I set my eyes on you but due to my ignorance, I chose to sink all those feelings. But right now you're the only good thing going on for me. And I want to be there for you like you've always been for me, I want to be the one you call when you're sad, happy, angry anything you name it. And it's with a tremendous amount of love that I ask you..... Will you marry me?"

I couldn't control myself as I was a sobbing mess and I threw myself onto him, holding him close as I managed to say. "I love you so much Ace, yes I will marry you."

A low cheer erupted from the top of the stairs and I look up with teary eyes to see Kenna and Harry hooting and cheering as they threw red rose petals down to us and I found myself laughing in pure happiness. Ace brought my face to him and I had never seen him so happy before. The joy in his eyes made my heart beat with so much love. We instantly pulled each other in for a kiss, a slow kiss that meant we would always be there for each other.

He slowly placed the ring on my ring finger and a tear cascaded down my face. He then proceeded to kiss the ring on my finger. "It fits your perfectly, love," he breathed.

"I can't believe you just did that," I sniffed and placed my hand on the back of his neck. His eyes stared into mine.

"I thought about it for a long time Quinn since the day Carl asked us to break up. I knew I couldn't let you go, I was so stupid back then to have gone against my feelings. When I lost you again I knew I couldn't risk it. I couldn't risk losing you because I was scared to open up. When I finally did, I knew you were the one for me," he tucked my hair behind my ear and placed a kiss on my forehead. "I've had this ring for a while now, I was thinking of the right time to do it. When you said I never asked you to be my girlfriend I was shocked honestly because I thought that was what you were already."

We both chuckled and he continued.

"That day I had both the necklace and the ring. I decided to take it slow and make use of the necklace first. And now I made use of the ring."

"My favorite people!" Kenna's loud voice squeaked and she ran to us and pulled us both into a hug. "I can't believe my best friend is engaged."

Her eyes locked with mine and her eyes became red as we had our own personal hug and I heard her sniffing. "I'm so happy for you Quinn."

"Oh and yeah Kenna was the one who gave me the push," Ace spoke up with his hands in his pocket as he moved from one foot to another and Kenna nodded with pride.

"While we were preparing everything, he suddenly started talking about how much he loves you and how he's scared of losing you and blah blah blah, and then he mentioned a ring upstairs and I was like wait hold up. Did you get a ring? And he nodded with his eyes shut saying he was not sure if you would say yes. I slapped the shit out of him once he said that because I know how much you love him and I mean look around what's a more perfect proposal setting than this? So we made it happen," Kenna explained proudly and I giggled at the thought of Ace whining about how much he loves me.

"I also participated," Harry pipped in and I pulled him in for a hug. "Oh, and happy birthday and congrats. You guys would make the cutest babies."

I laugh at his words and Ace chuckled too while pulling me closer to him in a hug.

Soon Kenna and Harry shuffled into the kitchen to begin our dinner. Apparently, they were the waiters for the night. Ace escorted me to the table I saw earlier and pulled out a chair for me.

"Here, Mrs. Winston to be," he said proudly as he pushed the chair back in and I shook my head with a grin that couldn't leave my lips.

I still couldn't believe that I was engaged to him.

My eyes went to my ring again and I caressed it with my fingers.

"I'm so glad you like it," Ace's raspy voice boomed and I nodded.

"I really didn't expect it, I mean I had fantasies of us getting married," I giggled feeling shy and he leaned in with a smirk on his lips.

"Oh really? Tell me more, do we have sex every day? Lay around the house naked all day? Ohhh we should start that now," he teased as my face turned pink.

Before I could talk our Waiters came in and placed our meal before us and my mouth salivated at how good it looked. It was a seafood cuisine. And they also poured our red wine into our glasses for us. We both said our thank you with peals of laughter.

"Wait did they really cook this?" I asked.

Ace chuckled. "Of course not love, I did."

"Thought so, Kenna is a terrible cook and Harry doesn't really come off as the cooking type," I laughed.

"Okay back to your fantasies. What else happened?"

I leaned back in my seat and looked at the fairy light with a smile on my face. "And we went away from everything here," I began, my voice was almost as a whisper in the empty apartment but he was paying full attention like someone was telling him the secret of the kraby patty. "We moved to a remote island and got a nice house near the beach with a nice porch and....a dog. We would be away from the busy lives we have here in New York. Everywhere will be calm just the occasional sound of the waves. We have no more troubles like we have here. Just peace and oh we have three kids. Two boys one girl. Lesley, Harden, and Damien."

He was silent, staring at me like he was lost for words. "Let's do that," he breathed and I could see his eyes getting watery.

"One day," I smiled as I intertwined our fingers.

He kissed our intertwined fingers while maintaining eye contact with me.

"One day," he whispered.
