XENIA

I threw the ball to the ceiling and watched it bounce back to me. I kept on repeating the process as my thoughts wandered. It seemed absurd that Milo had been ignoring my calls and whenever I went to check the court at school or his house he was unavailable.

"Oh, Milo?" His mum smiled at me and was about to call for him up the stairs when she noticed someone telling her something. I couldn't see or hear the person. She suddenly turned back to me with her hand on the door. "Milo went to check out admissions!" She blurted.

My eyebrows furrowed and I asked, "Admissions?"

"Yes." She breathed. "So I'm sorry he's not here and I'm very busy so bye." She shut the door in my face. Taken back and stunned I stared at the door.

"Xenia! Lunch is ready!" The cook said behind the closed doors of my room. I grabbed my ball and got off my bed, "I'll be down in a minute."

Before I went down for lunch I checked my phone again to see if Milo had contacted me. It was all to no avail. I had no notifications from him. I sighed in defeat and dropped my phone back on the table because it wasn't allowed on the dining.

The tensed aroura in the air when I got to the dining could be sliced by a knife. My dad sat upright and watched me take a sit. My mum had on her signature red lipstick, she wore a white gown and had her hair tucked behind her ears with pins. She turned to me as I took a seat.

"Mum, are you going somewhere?" I interrogated and wondered why the house was so silent.

She nodded and turned to my father as she confessed, "I have to visit an old friend today."

My father's eyes were emotionless as he glared back at her and neither of them broke the stare. My dad stared at her through his square glasses and she stared through her well-curled eyelashes. Her lips curved into a dangerous smirk that seemed friendly but I knew better. It wasn't a stare that couples share, no it seemed like they had death in their eyes. It was a stare of power.

"Anyways, I'm hungry." I drew in a breath as I scanned the delicious dishes set on the table. My mum broke the stare and turned to me.

"Dig in." She said and handed me the pasta.

I thought about what Quinn told me the other day. Was Milo giving me a sign through my sister? To meet him at Lindy's by six. I checked the time on my phone it was almost six.

I was at the court in school to practice but I was hoping Milo would walk through those doors but he didn't. Did he disappear to escape from the pressure?

I sighed and texted Ryan to take my mind of Milo.

Me: Hey babe. I kinda miss you, let's meet up.

It seemed weird that he didn't reply immediately, he always did. I sat on the first bleacher as my breathing filled the court considering that I was the only one there. At home my dad locked himself in his study and when he does that we just leave him alone. My mum went out immediately after breakfast.

My phone dinged and I unlocked it. It was a message from Ryan.

Ryan: I can't.

Take back at the response I chuckled and shook my head. Better go back to finding Milo. I packed up and left the court. I have to go myself.

The sun was beginning to set and it created a beautiful scene in the sky. Not many people were present in school, only a few. As I walked out the light breeze hit me and I adjusted my bag. Three gymnasts walked past me in their practice clothes.

I was walking past the windows of Lindy's trying to get to the door when my eye caught a sight. Her hand was on his as she smiled and laughed at something he said.

If this was a cartoon it would be the part where my face would turn red and smoke would come of out my ears. My legs were stuck to the ground and I watched the love of my life flirt with the one person I couldn't stand.

My breathing fastened as he took her hands to his lips and kissed her on her hand. Then the worse happened, she pulled him in for a kiss and my world shattered.

Someone grabbed my hand and it was until then that I noticed a tear running down my cheeks. I turned to the person who held my hand.

"Milo...." I breathed as the tears slipped again and I felt so embarrassed and used. It was the worse feeling in the world.

He studied my face and used his thumb to wipe the tears that escaped. His expression was soft as he watched me and immediately pulled me into his arms. That was the last straw, I busted out crying. I held his shirt as my tears stained it and he tightened his grip on me.

That night my heart shattered and the one who was there for me was Milo. As Myra and Ryan kissed in the shop I was safe in Milo's arms.

I felt lifeless, it seemed like life was drained out of me. I never expected to be hurt this way, I never knew something like this would affect me so much. I guess this is why they say not to fall in love because it's good for nothing.

But those times with Ryan, seemed so real. His love. It was real. How could this happen? Why did he do this?

The car ride was silent with me occasionally sobbing. It came to a stop at the red light. Milo had been silent the whole car ride, he didn't say a word.

"Is this why you disappeared from my life?"

He didn't reply and then I noticed that we weren't going to my house. "Where are we going?"

He ignored me again and continued driving. I sighed defeated and tired.

I was so tired.

Did everyone else know about my boyfriend cheating on me? All the things Milo and Quinn said began crashing on me and I began crying again. My head and heart began aching from my tears.

The car came to a halt and the unfamiliar building came to view. "Where's this?" I mumbled as I looked out the window. The building was breathtaking.

He didn't say a word and got down from the car, walked over to my side, and opened the door for me. When he dragged me to the car back at school I thought he was going to throw me off a cliff for crying so much about this but here he is opening the door for me.

I got down and he shut the door behind me, then he gave the key to someone. He took a hold of my hand and began walking towards the entrance. The security didn't ask us anything and bowed a little and lead us inside. I was stunned by the insides of this building.

The floor was cover with a satin rug and the walls were covered with marbles, chandeliers light up the place beautifully. It seemed like the entrance to a restaurant or hotel. I looked at the writing on the door leading to the main room.

Romano.

"Mr. Romano... This way." The man leading us said and I turned to Milo.

He nodded at the man and said, "You can leave." His voice was deep and low.

He walked to the elevator and it opened. He motioned for me to follow him and I did reluctantly. He's never brought me to his family's restaurant, he always came here to work as his mother requested for the public.

Romano restaurant isn't just a normal restaurant you see on the road. They have branches all over the world and are on the list of the top ten places you have to visit to eat in the world, they're placed on number two. They began from Italy then started expanding their works all over the world. Another thing about this restaurant is the fact that you need an actual invite to eat there.

Yes. You can't just walk into the place and ask for a table for two. There's always a long list of people who are on the list as it takes months to get the approval of Mr or Mrs. Romano to get invited. And surely it's open all the time.

The ride in the elevator was quiet and I stole a look at Milo. He was so quiet, it seemed unlike him to be like this So I decided to ask. "Why did you avoid me?"

"You think the world revolves around you." He chuckled as he finally acknowledged me. I looked at him confused and hurt.

"What?"

"I avoided everyone, not just you Xenia."

"Why?"

He turned to me just as a ding rang in the air and the elevator opened, "It's not a big deal. I'm here now." His eyes held pity and sadness but he attempted to mask it with a smile.

He walked out and I followed him into what seemed like the kitchen. He swiftly walked in and grabbed a white apron from a hook and handed one to me. I looked at it perplexed. The kitchen was huge and empty, no worker was present. Only the utensil, machine, and us.

He tied the apron on his waist and walked to the other side of the kitchen. He seemed to have forgotten that he brought someone along with him as he brought out dough and began rolling it. Then he stopped and looked back at me.

"Do I have to beg for you to get your ass here?"

I immediately wore the apron and hurriedly stood beside him. I heard him chuckle a little.

"Take this rolling pin, roll this dough, and pretend it's his face."

"Milo-" He cut me off by grabbing my hand and placing the rolling pin in it. The tears threatened to spill from my eyelids and once I blinked it graciously fell onto my cheeks.

I didn't say anything as I began to roll the rolling pin. It seemed like forever until he spoke.

He sighed and turned my tear-stained face to his view. "I hate seeing you like this Xenia..... You deserve so much more than him. I knew about him cheating, I found out a while ago and it killed me to tell you. That's why I had to show you. I needed to use their date as the cheese in the trap to open your eyes and see what a cheat he is."

"Thank you." I breathe softly. He slowly used his index finger to lift my chin and our eyes meet.

The light above us was a yellow bright light which reflected perfectly on his skin and before I knew what was happening I leaned in to capture his lips. I don't know if it was the mixed emotions or the need to be love, but I acted without thinking.

He froze..... Then I felt his lips capture mine too.

Honestly my first kiss was in kindergarten..... so I don't know if I should consider that as a first kiss or not.😂 He just asked me to close my eyes and the I felt something warm. I immediately knew what he did but we never spoke about it till date. Lol I think I'll use that scene in on of my books😌
