Chapter 2

"You didn't say that you were Levi! And what's up with me being your personal butler I have school just like you." Aaron complained for the fiftieth time as we walked to school.

His head was dropped low as he mentally kicked himself for not knowing that it was obvious that I was Levi. The only relative that could ever inherit my parents' wealth and therefore the only one to have been up in a room where only they could be. But it was endearing the way he was clueless and the way he complained about the fact that I was simply being the head of my house. So for him walking in on my naked and not even having the decency to leave or turn around I had to find a way to take revenge and give him a punishment.

"It's only fair that I get something out of you taking a peek at a helpless boy naked, and you being my butler will not hinder your studies in any way." I said as we drew near to the school compound.

The school I choose to go to was nothing special, it was meant for any ordinary child. The building was grey and peach, not a wise combination on their behalf but it worked out. It was a relatively large school with enough room to have specialized rooms for various subjects and extra space for them to have sports rooms like a pool and a basketball court. I had funded a ice rink for me and whoever else was interested in having ice skating classes or simply skate. But despite the fact that, in every sense, the school was normal. The children choose to be less than average, when it came to their behaviour and how they treated others.

I had to deal with boys who felt threatened that I was using my money to pull their girlfriends and potential 'prey' as I like to say from them. Then I got it from the girls who thought I was too up tight and would never care to help anyone else but myself, helping them meant spending whatever money I had to better their lives in ways they had no need of. I didn't know what the lower class men and those like Aaron who choose to transfer in late into the term would think of me but I had learnt to not care what people thought.

"Hey, are you okay? We're standing in front of the gate for like five minutes now." Aaron said his face now close to mine, too close to comfort so I took a step back and almost lost my footing and close to falling into the street. If it wasn't for Aaron grabbing onto my arm

I would have fallen into oncoming traffic and injured or killed myself. As I stood up properly a group passed by me and nudged my shoulder roughly making me stumble a little but I quickly found my footing and began to walk into the school when Aaron pulled me back turning me to look at him. "Hey what was that about?" he asked holding onto my shoulder a bit harshly making me flinch.

When he realized that he was putting too much pressure on me he let go pulling his hand back like he had touched an open flame, I didn't react just simply walk into the school and led him over to the classrooms. On our way there I could feel the stares of the students on me like lasers attached to a lethal weapon waiting for me to give them an opening but I kept my head at mid height and my back straight not caring what they did. But I quickly felt a presence walking right next to me and the stares became intensified but I could tell that it wasn't out of malice but curiosity.

So I looked up and to my right to see Aaron looking straight ahead with a serious face his arms behind his neck in a relaxed way and his bag hanging weightlessly on his shoulder. His hair covering his right eyes but I could see the other one taking in the sight and committing it to memory, his concentration face reminded me of his grandfather so much it was uncanny. When he realized I was watching him he looked at me and flashed me a charming smile but I could still see he felt a little awkward around me. I rolled my eyes at his attempts to take a little of the stares off of me and onto himself, but I silently felt an odd feeling.

No one my age ever stood up for me, they all faked it so that they could benefit from it and I was able to tell they weren't sincere about it. But he was being serious when he placed himself in the spotlight with me, it was an odd feeling that continued for most of the day. Since it was the first day of school, classes weren't very strenuous. We were given the opportunity to mingle and get to catch up with our friends. But since everyone here was pretty shady I stayed in my seat reading a new book that I picked up from my library last night, and Aaron had somehow made his way on top of my table attempting to grab the book out of my hand.

He was acting flustered and grabbing the air while I stayed calm and moved the book around with one hand and blocked his attempts all while still reading, classes in various forms of self protection were very helpful. He whined at the fact that he wasn't able to land a single hit or even touch the book but after a while the attempts stopped. I was so curious as to why so I lifted my head out of my book to see the class looking straight at me with Aaron a few inches away from my face. It caught me off guard when he got so close to closing the gap but he stopped when my hand was immediately resting on his Adam apple. But instead of seeming afraid his lips curved into a smile and he leaned back and waved my book in my face making me gasp and look at my hand to see that he had slipped it out of it.

"Hey cutie, if I were you I wouldn't get involved with a snob like him." A voice echoed through the class with a few hums and grunts of agreement, it was honestly boring that they couldn't have found a creative way to use their brains with. Aaron's eyes became darkened and he slipped off the table and took a step forward before his head flew up with a friendly smile that would seem charming to the untrained eye but I saw the fire burning in it. I reached out to grab his hand but he had already taken a step forward and scanned the crowd before scratching behind his neck and laugh a little.

"Can I ask who was the gentle soul who made such a honest statement?" he asked and a girl with long blonde hair dyed a hideous green at the ends, she was obviously good looking with her curvy body and perks in all the right areas but her attitude was very different to her looks. It was known that she was a bitch and someone you should look out for because she had a knack for destroying people's lives. "I'm happy that you were so kind to stand up, but your ego doesn't have to be as fake and over proportioned like your saggy melons." he said making a few people gag and others laugh while most people's mouths were wide open shocked that he would stand up to her and for me of all people.

He then turned and grabbed my hand dragging me out of the classroom and down the halls and out to the back of the school not stopping until we were absolutely alone. He then leaned on the wall and pulled out a cigarette lighting it and taking a strong pull of it blowing the smoke into the air. His eyes had become a lot darker than usual but as he took pulls of the cigarette it became a bit more calm then he threw it to the floor stomping it out and knocking his head lightly against the wall and looked down at me.

"Why don't you stand up to their bullshit? It was uncalled of her to say anything." he said grinding his teeth together and clenching his fist to his side.

"They're not worth it, simple." I answered looking up at the sky, I wasn't surprised that he smoked but didn't make a big deal out of it because it didn't affect me. He then smiled at what I said and sighed standing up straight stretching and cracking his neck before he held onto my shoulders and smiled sadly at me.

"It's so very angelic of you," he said and I felt something stir in me that I had never felt before, I wasn't even sure what it could be considered, "but you have to wake up we all depend on you." he said making me frown, then something strange happened.

"Azrael wake up, it's time we start moving." I heard an unfamiliar voice say making me turn around. And I saw a group of tall and powerful people standing in a light. I couldn't see them because whenever my eyes focused it was like someone flicked a switch and it became blurry again. "It time for The Awakening."

But as quickly as it came it left and I was left standing next to him as he was smoking and blowing designs into the air. "We should be getting back, the teachers would notice we're missing." He said flicking the bud into the grass and lead me inside of the school his hand resting on the small of my back giving me a little push to move.

He was truly an anomaly to anything I was accustomed to, I wasn't sure what he was doing by standing up for me. I didn't know what made him decide to move in and stay with his grandfather and couldn't comprehend how this stoic and controlled personality could ever be clumsy enough to come across me by chance. Aaron indeed was a curiosity on his own and I was determined to find out what was really going and and who Aaron truly was. And what was that vision I had see, it was the so odd but surreal. He was right though we should be heading back so I kicked a stone with the front of my sneakers and headed back with him.
