Chapter 16

"We haven't seen such an upsurge from the enemy is a very long time, you have somehow made them rare their heads." Aqeel said leaning against a wall with Ariana and I.

We had separated ourselves from the huge argument that was brewing between everyone else about our plans. I found out that Aqeel and Ariana were the newest recruits right before I entered into the god factor, so because of our immaturity to everything they voted it best we stay out of the planning. We didn't refuse their demand because it was best we not anger them and add to the already thick tension. I was still so worried about the others back in my house, what if something happens and I lose them, I had already checked on the forest and eased my mind of that worry. They were all safe and very much alive, I could only reckon that the shadow knew it would upset me to the point of subconsciously attacking anything around me.

"Is there something that you should tell these superiority junkies to stop them from ripping each other's head off. Maybe something as to why you are the target of all these attacks?" Ariana asked me her eyes full of determination and curiosity.

I thought of it long and hard, maybe I should let them know of this power given to me to awaken the god factor in others. What would that cause though, would it make them lock me away to ensure I don't fall into the wrong hands? What would their final decision be? My mind was now racing with so many questions and concerns but Aqeel rested his hand on my shoulder getting my attention. I looked up to see him smiling at me as if nothing was wrong, it wasn't an ignorant smile but one of comfort. As if to say no matter what you choose I'm right here to help. His simple gesture did calm my mind making me feel more safe, I remembered how my friends looked after I destroyed my room almost killing them. Then I remembered how peaceful but locked away they are in stasis, I needed to do something to help them. So I walked forward and sent a wave of magic out like wind that blew over everyone, it was a mimik to the sigh of relief making them all sit and go limp by its power.

"I need to tell you all something but I need you to be calm," my voice came off soft but when Ariana and Aqeel walked to my sides my confidence grew, "I was given a power that no one else possesses. I can see someone's god factor even when they are mundane or haven't learnt about it. And when I find who they are I can awaken the god factor in them forcing them to be able to use the magic they hold."

I practically spat out so fast that I didn't breathe, I then took on a breath that I hadn't known I was holding. The faces of each person was puzzled but filled with awe, some looked at each other murmuring amongst each other. Then Zade stood up from his seat holding the table for some leverage from the sigh's effect. His face was hard to read but he took his time formulating what to say or ask, when he was sure of himself he rose his head so that his eyes locked with mine.

"How are we to know what you say is truth? And if it is why have you kept it a secret?" I was a bit taken aback by his questions. Surely after all that thinking he would ask the most obvious questions.

"Well if you really want me to prove myself," I said before listening for the buzz of my power to fill my ear. When I opened my eyes again everything was orange but Zade's eyes were bright grey like a storm was taking place in them. When I felt my energy connect to his I sent a wave of magic over the table that slammed into him making his eyes open wide and stumble back from the force. When I fell to my knees from the sudden loss of energy and got help from Ariana and Aqeel I saw Jupiter standing in front of me. Everyone was at a lost for words so I took the time to explain his second question, "And to answer your next question, I wasn't sure who I could trust since I was now learning about it myself."

Eli didn't look too surprised since our first meeting is forced him to transform, but he was startled my guess being he didn't know I could do it outside of the telepathic realm. It wasn't until long that someone stood up and looked me dead in the eye ready to speak me down.

"Are we seriously going to let someone like him go back out there?" Alaric asked staring down at everyone searching for backup.

"Oh hush Alaric, we're all dangerous he just has a certain asset to add to his plethora of magic." Timothy said not looking at him

"The question that we must be asking is, how did we not sense this change but the enemy did." Daniel said finishing his brother's statement.

The way that they spoke was different from the happy go lucky children that ran towards Lucifer when he had returned to them. They were in sinc to each other in a strange but mystifying way, they looked almost militant. Some of the other gods nodded their head to Daniel's statement and began to think about it, when Alaric realized that no one was going to heed his warning question. He huffed and glared at the twins sitting back down and stewing in his anger, the twins didn't care what he had to say. Though they quickly returned to their childish ways when Eli passed his hand through their hair in a commending way, they beamed and leaning into his embrace.

"The twins are right, it's strange that we didn't notice his power even though he was right under our noses." Lucifer said causing a good few gods to hum in agreement.

"What if he's being cloaked somehow?" Aqeel suddenly spoke up.

It made the group look up at him making him squirm where he stood from the attention. A smile broke across Zade's face lighting it up, I wasn't sure what had caused his sudden burst of pride. But there was something in his eyes that sparkled that made my stomach knot and goosebumps to crawl its way over my skin. He had detransformated so Jupiter was not the one in control so I wasn't surprised that he wasn't able to discern it. Unless he knew already and he was a mole of a sort, my breath caught in my throat when his eyes locked in mine forming a scowl on his face. I grabbed at the closest hand next to me which happened to be Ariana's, the contact eased the uncomfortable feeling in my chest but hardly enough. He was no longer looking at me but he was closely paying attention to every solution that was brought up, if he was a spy there had to be something I could do.

So I walked over to a chair at the corner of the room gaining only Aqeel and Ariana's, whose hand I was still squeezing, attention they following behind me. I sat down and went limp, every muscle in my body calmed down and I could feel as if I was being lifted out of my body. I didn't expect the telepathic spell to be so strong to put me in a comatose state, but I let myself get drawn out and look along the table for Jupiter. And not surprisingly I saw a dark shadow looming over him, it was a strange feeling being in this state and I was confused as to how I was able to do it with little to no training. It had to do with Azrael that was the only explanation, but I didn't have time for that. I could see Jupiter's aura around Zade's body but it was faint almost like it was asleep. Then there was Zade who was tied in chains and pulled back so that his neck was open to the dark looming shadow whose fangs were stuck in it.

Fire built up around my celestial form as the rage for the creature boiled over, not only was he here trying to find information in how to kill us. But he was also forcing his control over one of the people who didn't blink twice when I needed help, so I let the flames travel and pool in my palm before I threw it at the table making things fly off of it. The impact startled everyone as they looked around for the source but could not see it, but the demon over Zade looked up at me and it's eyes lit up with rage. The pools of fire that swarm in his eye sockets sparked causing some of the fire to combust out of his eyes. His eyes were the only defining feature he had everything else was like smoke, he unlatched himself from Jupiter and charged at me. But I was ready and I sent a massive ball of energy at him that engulfed his body and trapping him.

"Now who sent you? Was it the shadow that's been haunting me or is it Satan?" I asked slamming my hand on the orb.

The shadow snapped and spat a black acid onto the orb trying to get its way out, I was about to do something to torture the information out of him when I heard someone sat my name. When I looked up I saw Juno standing in the same form I was in, she was one of the Roman gods that were here. She looked at the shadow and with every passing second disgust and anger climbed into her face. So lifted her hands and threw a mass of her own magic at it causing it and the orb to explode killing it. I trotted my teeth together and jerked my head up to see her run to me with concern written in her face.

"Are you okay? Did it hurt you?" She asked resting her hand in my shoulder as if to comfort me.

"Yeah I'm okay," I snapped shrugging her hand off my shoulder, "Not like you killed our only lead in knowing what's happening and all."

And with that I let myself get pulled back into my body and oxygen enter my lungs making my body jerk forward. Aqeel and Ariana spun around to see me and began asking me questions but I was getting angrier by the second, I was about to get some information and now that hope was gone. I whispered under my breath that I was going to go to my quarters and got up walking out of the room. I knew that we were all children despite holding a god in us and we were few in number with no experience. But I thought the idea of holding a hostage for information would be common sense, I had come to them for help but they were as clueless as I was.

There was only three Roman gods who was being lead by a shadow leach demon so for a little while there were really only two Roman gods. Since Cian, Aaron and Chloe were still in stasis there was only one Greek goddess, two new Norse gods that knew almost as much as I did. And four other angels, so without Cian and the others we truly only had eleven children carrying this terrible weight. I couldn't stay angry at Lexi who was Juno's holder, after all she was a teen just like me and if it was her in trouble maybe I might have done the same. I made it out of the Roman house and into the angels', I found my way to my quarters and opened it to feel the sigh's power flowing over me.

I took in a calming breath and walked into the garden to feel the warmth rays of the sun caressing my skin, and the blades of grass gently flowing to the wind under my feet. The animals were wide awake flying above the trees or doing whatever they normally do, so I walked to the end of the opening and sat down under the shade of a broad and beautiful oak tree. I closed my eyes and felt at ease, there was no evil after me, Beulah and her demon servant was not at my home, everyone I loved were safe and I was going back to being normal. But then something changed in me, at that second it was like my life and mind were a glass that was shattered and I fell forward. I opened my eyes and took in several gasps as a new understanding slammed into me.

I wasn't feeling at ease about my old life anymore because now I knew that life wasn't as simple as I once had. I now had a group of people who unknowingly needed me more than ever waiting for a breakthrough, and someone that despite the ancient connection we had was not bothered by it. It wasn't like we were being compelled or forced into falling for each other, instead it was like I was surrounded by a body of open water but he was my raft. And I knew he wasn't going to run away from the unforseen binding we had but he too embraced it. So if life was as bland and easy as before then none of this was going to work, it would still be happening but I wouldn't be able to do anything I wouldn't have been able to help anyone. And a new determination flowed into my veins igniting myself and catapulting me forward, I knew exactly what I had to do to make things a little bit better.
