Teenage dream by olivia rodrigo

"When am I gonna stop being a pretty young thing to guys?
When am I gonna stop being great for my age and just start being good?
When will it stop being cool to be quietly misunderstood?"

3 years later
(age 13)

The sound of metal hitting metal filled the vacant room.

Alysanne Targaryen was practicing her sword fighting with Ser Criston Cole. The hour was late and the princess was growing tired.

"Thank you for the win, princess," Cole teases her as he holds the blade against her throat. He could tell she was growing tired because her guard was down. "We can continue another night."

Alysanne let out a sigh of relief as she went to grab water and rest.

"I noticed your personal knight is not watching you like a hawk tonight, how come?" Cole asks her as he sits down beside her.

"Firstly he does not watch over me like a hawk. Secondly I do not know where he is at all times, thank you very much," Alys answers him with a sharp tongue. Though the look Cole gave her showed he was unconvinced by her attitude, he knew her too well. "Though it seems I do know where he is tonight. His mother requested an audience with him."

"Oh how he must mourn spending time with his other half," Cole dramatically utters, standing up before she could hit him. Though she still threw a pillow at Jim, which he just barely missed.

"I will now be leaving," Alysanne announced, packing up her things and leaving.

Once Alysanne made it to her room, she was met with her favorite person. Aemond sat waiting for her.

"Nice to see you're alive. How was it?" Alys questioned upon seeing him.

"Mother wants us to prepare for guests," he told her as he stands up to help her loosen her braid.

"What guests?" She questioned, letting go so that he could untie it for her.

"A princess and a boy, both from Dorne," he told her when she turned to face her.

"You do realize they are trying to court us," Alys asks raising a brow.

"So I have noticed. Do not worry, the boy is from the second most powerful house in Dorne. I'm sure he will make you very happy, and I hope you like sand."

"Oh, I love it," she answered rolling her eyes. "And let me guess your match is the heir to Dorne."

"She's third in line," he answers with a shrug. He watched as she made her way to the bathroom.

"Well then, I hope she likes rats," Alysanne continued speaking as she started undressing, she knew Aemond would not invade her privacing. They often spoke through the walls as Alysanne bathed and Aemond sat on her bed.

They tried to spend every possible moment together.

Though it proved difficult. Aemond spent most hours in the morning training with Cole, while Alysanne sat with Septons and Heleana. When everyone went to sleep Alysanne would train with Cole while Aemond normally came along or did whatever he did. She often complained of sore muscles after training, so if Aemond had not gone along to 'watch her like a hawk' he would do the thoughtful thing of filling her bathtub for her. Seeing as she could not ask a servant, they would question where she went.

The only time they were publicly together was during High Valyrian or history lessons with Septons, or for rides on Vhagar and Silwerwing. After a year and a half of lessons from the dragonkeepers they were able to actually ride on their dragons when they had time.

"When are they coming?" She questioned laying in the bathtub.

"In about a fortnight, they have already begun their long journey."

"Well then, we still have a fortnight of peace, before we are tragically separated," Alys commented causing him to laugh.

"We will not be tragically separated, Lyssa," he responded.

"Of course we won't. We definitely will not be having walks in the gardens with them and dinners as well. If I know mother well enough, which I do, we will have horseriding and tea for entertainment."

"Alright, our time together will drastically decrease. But we can still see each other at night," he answered.

"I think my charming and lovable personality will tire me out,"

"Are you trying to say you are going to replace me?"

"With a boy who likes sand over dragons, never."

"I know you do not like the idea of court. But Owen Yronwood is a respectable boy only a year older than you. He is the best match I could find for you. If this does not work, I will have to send you to the North." Alicent said to the girl sitting across from her.

"Maybe I do not want to marry." Alysanne responded.

"Nobody wants to marry, yet we do not have a choice," Alicent told her with a sigh as she sat back in her chair. "Many people have waited many years to betroth you."

"That is unnerving," Alys muttered.

"You are a very wanted young woman. That is the hard truth. Having you unmarried is dangerous in ways you do not want. A good husband would hopefully stop that," Alicent explained looking out the window. The look in the Queen's eyes told her she knew what was being talked about, the biggest example of it unfortunately lived within these walls.

"I will be nice to the boy, mother," Alys finally complied. Alicent gave her a thankful smile as they continued drinking their tea.
