Cheesy x Microphone (II)

"SkaterCheese, are you alright?"

It's a strange space. The one who spoke was simply a book clone copy of A Marshmallow's Guide to Loving a Complete Idiot, but with classical object show arms attached. SkaterCheese was just a block of cheese who looked remarkably like Cheesy, the only real difference being the fact that an (extremely stylish and important) red hat reading "Rad" sat on his head.

The space of SkaterCheese's writing... and skatebooks.

"I'm tired out, Guide," Skater confessed, staring blankly at a new sheet of paper. "Lesson 34 was over 3,000 words long, and These Lone Stars was over 4,500."

"Well, er..." Guide grabbed a clipboard and ran a finger across the paper clipped to it. "The thing is, you're behind, sir."

"What are you talking about?"

"Well, where should I start? You still have several requests to write."

"I'm aware."

"Plus you have Wannabe. She has been begging you for attention for months."

"Mhm. Gonna do it... tomorrow, or... something."

"There's also the holiday special. You need to decide whether you'll do Thanksgiving, and you need to pick what you're going to do for Christmas. Then you have to start drafting, in either case."

"Christmas is months away, Guide. I know you're Marshple, but you don't have to make such a big deal about it..."

"Plus there's the 100-follower special. And then there's my next chapter-"

"You might be my kid, but I need a break sometimes. And I'm busy outlining the rest of you right now."

Guide's eyes narrowed. "Well, how about Shipping Musings and Opinions?"

Skater stretched... then blinked. "...Wait a sec... Shipping Musings and Opinions? That thing? It's not even a story."

"It's on your list of things to work on. I'm your first child and your secretary, so consider this advice completely unsolicited, but you should stop going on secret dates all the time and pay attention to your kid! He already feels pretty unloved because of all those mean things you said about him in his own introduction. And he isn't even hard on you like I am sometimes! It'd be great if you supported him more."

Skater sighed. "Fine... Yeah, I'll go... find him."

I've been swamped (no Shrek reference intended) with editing work lately, and publication has been weird. I'd say "It's going up tonight," and fall asleep smack-dab in the middle off my final edit. That happened for around two weeks. I've really been wanting to write some of these, but I've been quite busy lately. I'm going to try and keep a closer eye on this stuff from now on, though!

Also, I promise I'm not mean to kids.

In any case, today's ship is Cheesy x Microphone, requested by bfdifangirl! I must say, brevity is the soul of wit. Your comment was the shortest yet!

Rating out of 100: 82/100

Do I ship this?: I actually do!

Why do I/don't I ship this?: I'll always be amused by the fact that all that Cheesy ever did in the show was bother Microphone and tell puns. I feel like they have a great friendship that could be an interesting relationship as well, because it'd require a lot of growth, which would make an interesting story.

Speaking of stories, back when I was first thinking about starting A Marshmallow's Guide, I had several oneshot ideas about this ship. I'm surprised I've only brushed against and teased it in stories, haha.

Is this my favorite ship for one/both of the characters?: For Mic it is.

Thoughts on the ship name: None of them are good. Micreesy, Cheesecrophone? 0/10. Mic and Cheese on the other hand...

My favorite story involving these two: I have to give it to Balloon_The_Balloon; her story, Caught, has the essence of Mic and Cheesy's starting relationship down. I also liked I'm very fondue you on DeviantArt. It's by 100Cat, you can check it out in the link in the comment here:

Things I enjoy in art/stories about them: Several writers so far have included a good number of puns. Not properly contextualized for the most part, but I'll take what I can get.

Things I wish I saw more of in art/stories about them: I wish there were more lighthearted stories about these two. I once read a Cheesy x Mic story in which Cheesy attempted suicide, and while that could be a plot point if it was adequately developed, it clashes, guys.

Five headcanons about them:

Cheesy stays up late reading his joke book; whenever he falls asleep with it at his desk, Mic drapes a blanket over him. When Mic falls asleep while writing in her diary, Cheesy returns the favor.

Cheesy would be that one guy who remembers all the anniversaries.

If Microphone ever started a band or something post-series, she'd totally let Cheesy open all of her concerts, even if his puns are groan-worthy for the audience. Likewise, if Cheesy ever got that comedy show he'd likely want, he'd let Mic perform on it live.

Whenever Microphone wants to kiss Cheesy, she has to lift him up because he's so short.

One of Microphone's favorite things to do is listen to music, and even play some. She'd probably write the occasional pun-filled mess of a song to please Cheesy.

A story I'd write about them, if I had the time/interest:

Egging Her On, positioned in a high school AU akin to the one I've written about wherein Cheesy and Mic are paired up for a school project: making an egg hatch. All Cheesy can hope is that he doesn't get egg on his face, so to speak, when he tries to confess to Microphone on the final day of the project...

The holiday that best reflects this ship, and why: I have no idea. If there's a National Macaroni and Cheese Day, that's them, because Mic and Cheese.

...There is one. On July 14th.

Huh. Why aren't I surprised?

Where do they end up in life?: I don't feel like this is a relationship to end in love, marriage and a baby carriage, but they'd just be happy to have each other's support as perhaps boyfriend and girlfriend, or even as close friends.
