Memories

"I just wanted to say that I love you." I say.

"What do you want?" Mom asks.

"Nothing, it's just that life is so short. I wouldn't want to die or have you die without you knowing that." I say.

Here's to the ones that we got

"Are you thinking about Y/n?" Mom asks.

"Yeah." I say as my voice cracks.

Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not

I start to cry and Mom hugs me.

"Why are you crying?" Y/n asks hugging me.

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

"You make me so happy." I say.

Y/n smiles and kisses me.

"I love you." Y/n says.

"I love you too." I say.

Of everything we've been through

"Y/n's always watching over you and I know she's proud. She's proud of your success and she's proud of how well you've handled her death. Just know that." Mom says.

Toast to the ones here today

Y/n was hit by a drunk driver while crossing the road and died. That was on her 17th birthday. Today would've been her 20th.

Toast to the ones that we lost on the way

Every year people from around the world send flowers to the cemetery to be put on her grave. At first I didn't want to give the address out but I realized that everyone loved Y/n.

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

But no one loved her as much as me.

And the memories bring back, memories bring back you
There's a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain

"Hello." Y/n says.

"Hey, can you meet me at the altar?" I ask.

"What? Why?" Y/n asks.

"My dad just said you have his blessing." I say.

When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same

"Damn, send me the address." Y/n says.

I laugh and smile.

3 hours later...

"Everytime people say Y/n's name, I miss her even more. She should be here, we should be together." I say.

Now my heart feel like December when somebody say your name
'Cause I can't reach out to call you, but I know I will one day, yeah

"People say everything happens for a reason or that God makes no mistakes but I just don't understand why he took her now." I say.

Everybody hurts sometimes

"You wanna put it like that? Okay. Y/n loved her dad, they were partners in crime. Y/n's dad died 2 weeks after she did. It would've killed her mentally when he died. God took her first to save her the pain." Micheal says.

Everybody hurts someday, ayy-ayy

"You have tremendously improved since her passing. That's the first sign that you'll get through this. Y/n would've proud at how far you've come." I say.

But everything gon' be alright
Go and raise a glass and say, ayy

"Utilize the time you have with those here and be happy that you got to spend as long as you did with Y/n." Micheal says.

Here's to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not

"You had so many great experiences with her and you need to be thankful for that instead of only thinking about the worst part — her death." He says.

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we've been through

"You're still here but I know she's waiting for you. That doesn't mean to should expedite your death but you're still on her mind." He says.

Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way

"I guess you're right. It's always nice talking to you." I say.

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

"That's what I get paid to do." Micheal says.

And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

Time Skip

I walk down the path and see Y/n's headstone.

Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo

Every now and then I come to Y/n's grave just to "check on her."

Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo

Y/n wanted us to be buried by each other so Y/n's mom brought the plot next to Y/n's and got a double headstone with my name engraved.

Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

"I know we're so young but I know I want to be buried beside you. There's nothing that I want more than that." Y/n says.

Memories bring back, memories bring back you

"You're obviously gonna die first so I'll try my hardest to make that happen." I say.

"You really think I didn't hear that?" Y/n asks.

I laugh and Y/n smiles.

There's a time that I remember when I never felt so lost

Most of the time you can spot the grave a mile away because of all the flowers.

Y/n never knew how many people really liked her. She would be blown away if she knew how many people missed her.

My eyes fill with tears and I wipe them.

Now my heart feel like an ember and it's lighting up the dark

"I'll probably die after my parents so I'm leaving all my money to you. Just promise you'll do some good with it and help other people." Y/n says.

"I promise." I say.

Y/n has $150,000 so I donated it to a different hunger charities in her name because she was an advocate for hunger.

I'll carry these torches for ya that you know I'll never drop, yeah

I know Y/n would be happy with everything that's happened. And that's something to be happy about.

Here's to the ones that we got (Oh-oh)
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not

Micheal is right — I no longer remember all the bad memories.

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

"Y/n's heart stopped and has passed away, I'm sorry." Dr Leon says.

Tears fill my eyes and mom hugs me.

Of everything we've been through (No, no)

Time Skip

"My mom cleaned Y/n's room and found some stuff you might want. There's a box on the desk." Tommy says.

"Okay." I say.

I open the door and walk in.

Y/n's room has been locked since she passed but this is the first time it's been unlocked.

I grab the box and stare at Y/n's bed.

"I love you." I say as Y/n kisses my cheek.

Toast to the ones here today (Ayy)

"I love you too." Y/n says.

Toast to the ones that we lost on the way

"3 inches!" Mark shouts cracking the door.

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories (Ayy)

Y/n groans and I laugh.

And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

"I'm about to be 17 and my dad still doesn't trust me with my door closed." Y/n says.

Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo

I spent more time at Y/n's house than at my own house.

Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

"Your mom never asks me if I'm staying over for dinner anymore." I say.

Memories bring back, memories bring back you
Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo

"She genuinely thinks you live here." Y/n says.

Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo (Ooh, yeah)

I walk out of the room and shut the door.

Memories bring back, memories bring back you

"Thank you for this." I say.

Yeah, yeah, yeah

"You're still my sister in-law." Tommy says.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no

I smile and we hug.

Memories bring back, memories bring back you
