Before I Die, I'd Like To Have A Kiss On New Years

Liam's POV

I walk in with Lacie on my arm. I've always love Harry's New Years parties. I mean, I don't drink, but it's still really fun. The lads casually make their way up to me and greet Lacie and I. Louis and Eleanor come up each holding a wine glass. "This is Lacie." I introduce them.

"Well I finally understand why you hang out with her. She's beautiful." Louis smiles and shakes her hand. I pull Lace just a little close; I know how she feels about her insecurities. She always believes that people are just saying that. She really is beautiful. I don't care waht she says; I tell her that everyday.

"Let's go meet the others." I say and turn away. Harry and Niall both run up to me and tackle me, both of them a little drunk already. Boys... these days... I'm glad I don't get wasted. They act like idiots. It's fun to laugh at them though.

"Well It's about time you showed!"  Niall jumped up and ran off. ADHD? I look at the clock and It was only about eleven-thirty. The party started at ten. It's really not that bad. The only reason I'm only here is to see the boys and introduce them to Lacie. I should have came earlier for they wouldn't be so... wasted. I usually leave shortly after midnight. Everyone is too drunk to talk to by then.

"Well you met the boys." I say as Zayn walks off. "Now you can say you've met drunk One Direction." I smile and look down at her. I grab soda bottle and sit on the couch with Lacie. "There's not much to do here." I look through the large group crowding Harry's house, trying to find someone I don't know. Harry doesn't really invite a lot of new or famous people to his parties. It's just a bunch of friends that we've all known. Like a group from my old high school. It's really not that big of deal. No big huge celebrities. There's a tap on a glass and I look up. Harry is sitting on Niall's shoulders laughing and looking out to us.

"Well, it's almost midnight. Grab a drink." He says once he gets the attention of the group. I laugh a little and hand Lacie a bottle.

"Thanks... your friends are strange." She has a big smile on her face.

"I know. Thank God I'm normal." I laugh and wink at her. I look down at my phone and we've already been here twenty minutes. It hasn't felt that long. Three minutes till midnight and I stand up and set Lacie on my toes. We dance slowly until they start the count down. The time is moving incrediable fast. Probably cause I'm sober.

10....

Should I kiss her then?

Yes I am!

1...

Don't do it!

At that very second... at the very second the clock hit midnight... my lips hit hers. I traced her collar bone with my index finger and made my way up to her face. I've never kissed some one like this. I kiss her softly, careful not to break or hurt her. She's so fragile. She let her one hand lay on my stomach, the other sat tight with mine. She seemed to want more as I felt her tongue on my lip. I open my mouth just a little more. We sat in the corner of the room; just the two of us. Who knows what's going on around here. The music still blasted. The drunks still cheered. It didn't matter now. I was with her. I wasn't letting her out of my grip. I wasn't letting anyone take her away. I was here to keep her safe. A part of me told myself it was my job to keep her alive. I continue to hold her face with my one hand as my other finds it's way up. My face cringes as I kiss her. Just thinking of losing her terrifies me. I'm glad she's here now. She can't go anywhere soon. You love her don't you Liam? A little voice said in the back of my head. Of course I do. I love her. I respond to myself. I guess I sound crazy. At least I'm not saying it out loud. Like you did before? Of course! Nothing has changed! Yes I've dated a girl in between then and now but I love her. I always will. No matter what happens. If she lives, we can get married. She pulls away and looks up at me with a smile. I think you've made the right choice Liam.

"Well that killed the head ache." She laughs. "I just-" I interrupt her with the strong urge to kiss her again. Our lips meet once more, just shorter this time. Her face is bright red when she finally pulls away. "This has been the best party...ever." She says and we continue the kiss.
