Chapter 9- Finally

Zelda (POV)

"Oh come on will you just cooperate!" I huffed, flattening out my hair once more. Just like before it poofed out like a big fuzz ball. I groaned "You know what? Screw it. Your being washed again." I said stomping over to my bathroom. I had quickly learned that this was one of the many problems of short hair.

I pushed my head over to the running water that was constantly flowing. I washed it once again with my hydromelon scented shampoo.

I walked back into my room drying my hair with a towel for the second time within that hour. I continued to do that until it was dry. This time while brushing, it didn't poof up and decided to work with me.

I smiled and put the diamond earings and necklace, that Link and gotten me, back in its rightful place. I looked in the mirror. My hair was completely down and a gold circlet went around my head. I decided that a circlet was better than an actual crown. It was also much prettier.

I went over to my closet to grab my ceremonial dress. The royal blue popped out against the gold and white and it was truthfully a very pretty gown. I would have liked to wear my traveling clothing but this was a rather important gathering and I needed to look my best.

I slipped on the dress and looked at myself in the mirror. It was slightly bigger than 100 years ago but still fit right. I smiled and twirled around before walking over to the door. I walked down the hall one door and knocked on it.

I heard rustling from inside before it opened up. Link peeked his head from behind it and sighed relived when he saw it was me "Are you wearing it?" I asked. He huffed "Yes but..." he opened the door further "Dont you think it looks rather silly?"

I barely heard what he said because of it. He was wearing the royal guard outfit from 100 years ago. The navy blue and the deep red of the whole uniform brought out everything else about him. He looked very handsome and it was rare to see Link look so formal. "Uh Zelda? Are you alright?" I heard. I looked up at his eyes. He sighed "I would rather wear my tunic. Please~" He begged. I sighed "Fine but only if you let me take a picture of this one." His eyes widened "Fine."

I took the slate from his desk and opened the picture rune. I stepped back and relized something was missing. I looked over and smiled. I grabbed the blue hat from the table and walked over "Bend down." I said to him. He kneeled and I procceded to put the cap on his head and re-arrange his hair to my liking. Then I moved his hand to the cap so it was tilted down. "Okay stay like that!"

I ran over to the slate and picked it up. I snapped the picture. I smiled "Okay time to see how it turned out! I'm very excited to-" I looked at it picture. Woah.

I sucked in a breath. My body took over before my mind could tell me to stop and I started speaking "Your very hot- handsome- uh! Looking? Uh I mean your uh..." I stuttered. I knew his cluelesness wouldn't last forever because he gave me and strange look that I couldn't read. "I gotta go." I mutter before putting the slate down and walking out. "Zelda wai-" I heard before I shut the door and ran down the hallway.

"Stupid mouth! Stupid brain! Stupid me!" I mutter speed walking down the hall. How could I be so idiotic? How could I let myself say thoes true, but embarrasing things? I knew it would bite me in the arse later when he asked me about it.

When I got to the end of the hallway I saw a huge line of people alike. They were all being kept in order by the many guards and servants that requested to work inside the castle. That's when I realized it was about time to start the party.

Once they all saw me they shouted and yelled in delight. I took a deep breath, smiled happily and walked over. "Hi everyone! How are you all doing?" I asked. A array of answers came from the crowd, but all of them were along the lines of yes. I smiled "Well, it is about time to head up to the sanctum, now isnt it? Come along!"

We all walked up to the big room. Luckly it was big enough for more than twice the amount of people here. There were indeed a lot of people.

Everyone settled in nicely. I smiled in joy seeing races, that most likely would have never met before if it wasn't for this party, mingling with eachother. It was an amazing sight.

My happiness faltered though when I saw Link come through the door. He was wearing his normal clothing, blue tunic, and hylian trousers. The only thing different about him was the topaz earings that hung from his ears.

He looked over at me and smiled but then was bombarded with a crowd of people thanking him and complementing him. Link being the polite person he is greeted them all, shaking hands and even doing autographs when asked.

When the crowd cleared some zora woman came over to me to talk. I happily agreed to do so and made conversations with them all. I saw Link was a bit disappointed that he didn't get to come over but I needed to avoid that topic for a little while. I would tell him later. For now I needed to enjoy myself.
__

I smiled brightly as people started dancing together. It was around 8 pm and the the music Links friend, Kass, was playing was beautiful and slow.

I looked around and saw that Link was talking to the gerudo leader, Riju. Thats when I saw her put out her hand to Link. He sheepishly took it and rubbed the back of his neck. Thats when she pulled him out to the dance floor. My body boiled with jealousy. I know it shouldn't. She was 12 years old and they had a brother-sister relationship but I wanted to be the one dancing with him.

I watched intently and she seemed to be scolding him for messing up. He laughed and corrected himself. After around a minute they parted. Riju clapped her hands "Wow! You actually did it. I'm surprised." I heard. They had gotten closer to me than I had originally thought. He laughed "I'm glad it met your standards." She snorted "Yeah whatever. I'm gonna go talk to some people. You should too. I know you have many friends that you havent seen in a while." She said. Link nodded "Yes your right. Bye." He said. She nodded and they separated. I was about to take this as my chance to talk to him but he went over to Sidon, who took his hands and shook them happily.

I sighed and walked over to the drink table. I took a glass of water and chugged it. I needed to tell him and soon. I was about to go over to the food when I got a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw it was Link. I smiled at him "Hows the party?" I asked. He smiled "Good. Uhm..." he faltered "Could you come with me? Just for a moment. I have to ask you something." He said nervously. I nodded. This was perfect. We walked out after telling everyone we would be back shortly.

"I uh also have to ask you something. Or rather tell you something..." I said as we sat down on a ledge. He looked at me and smiled "Go first. Please." He said almost desperate. I looked at my dangling feet and sqeezed my hands into fists, making my fingertips turn white.

I looked up at him "Before I tell you..." he tilted his head concerned "You have to promise me 100 percent that you won't hate me. That we will always be friends and that nothing bad will happen between us. Promise me." I said seriously. He looked at me "Zelda I-" "Promise me!" I raised my voice. He looked taken aback but nodded "I promise you Zelda." "100 percent?" I asked. He smiled "1000 percent." I breathed out feeling slightly more relaxed.

I looked up at the sky, silently begging Hylia to help me with this. "I.... I-I....I-" "Hey..." Link said touching my shoulder "Take your time hon." He looked embarrassed imedeatly after but it made me feel immensely better. Still nervous though.

I...I...uhm..." I stuttered squeezing my eyes shut not daring to let my tears fall out. I shook my head. I had to do it now. If I kept this up I would never do it.

With a rush of adrenalin, confidence, and doubt all at the same time, I stood up on the ledge and looked down into his blue eyes. I breathed in deeply and said the 3 most meaningful words anyone could muster. "I love you."

I looked at him with a most definitely red face, tears falling down my cheeks slowly. He sat there with wide eyes and a gaped mouth. My fists clenched and I grew impatient. If he was going to reject me he might as well do it now.

He then stood up and looked at me. He suddenly smiled and laughed. My eyes widened and I subconsciously stomped my foot on the concrete ground "What?!" I exclaimed. My emotions wanting to get out somehow. He smiled at me and took my chin in his fingers, begining to wipe away the tears on my cheeks with his other hand "Thats what I wanted to say. You took that away from me you thief."

My mouth fell open and I looked at him dumbfounded "Y-you wanted to- you said- you what?!" I exclaimed. He chuckled "Yeah, I feel the same exact way Zelda." He said rubbing under his nose lightly. My eyes widened "I never would have thought that-" "That it was mutual? That I loved you too? Yeah, me neither." He said.

I sat down still dumbfounded and he joined me, scooting over until our thighs and shoulders were touching. I looked up at him "What does this make us?" He looked at me "Whatever you want my queen." My heart fluttered at the sound of him using my new title for the first time. I looked down and bit my lip "Could we be like... you know- a couple?" I said slightly embarrassed. He smiled "Of course." I smiled brightly as it began to set in that Link, the one that I had been obsessing over, Link, the one that had been with me for so many years, Link, the one I had loved deeply for more than 100 years, was not, officially, mine.

We walked back into the room happy and holding hands. Kass was about to finish one of his songs. When the next one came on Link and I smiled. When Kass had practiced for us, we both made a favorite one which was this one. It was slow and upbeat at the same time. No one hesitated to go with there significant other and dance.

I heard from behind me some girl "Link is so hot Beth! I'm totally gonna go ask him to dance." She exclaimed and started walking over. I quickly took Links hand and dragged him over to the dance floor "How about you show me what Riju taught you hm?" He sighed "You saw that?" I snorted "Oh yes. You looked lovely darling." I said. His face grew pink and he chuckled nervously. I looked over to the girl who was glaring at me. I smiled sweetly and looked back at my Link.

We then began dancing. It was crazy how in sync we were. It was like we had been doing it our whole lives. We spun around the room with numbers counting in my head. 1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2-3... I smiled as I relized people were standing around just to watch us. How cliche!

Once the song ended we stopped right in th3.kiddle looking into eachothers eyes. Link smiled at me and I just couldn't help but stand on my tippy toes and kiss his lips. The crowd erupted with yells and cheers but I couldnt hear a thing. We separated and touched our foreheads together. The only thing I could hear was Links sweet sounding voice:

"Finally..."

*Bonus!!!*

Link (POV)

I flipped down into my bed and pulled a pillow to my chest. I looked at the ceiling dazed before squealing and squeezing my pillow tight.

Zelda, Queen Zelda, was now mine.
