Chapter 6- Sword trials

Link (POV)

I woke up at the crack of dawn. Zelda was still sleeping. After last night she needed her rest. She seemed to let out all her emotions from all these years. I was with her through the whole thing thankfully.

I borrowed the cooking pot outside. No one was awake at the time so I was alone looking out into the still starry sky. I decided to make her hearty fruitcake. It added extra hearts. You couldn't see them unless you were wearing the sheika slate though.

I decided that I wanted a plain crape. I knew Zelda liked thoes as well so I put one on the side of her cake. I put it in the slate so it would still be warm when she woke up.

I went back into the sleeping chambers and decided to draw a little. I grew a liking to it during my travels. I had to pick up some sort of hobby.

I looked at the slate for reference and started to draw one of the pictures I had in there. It was one with me and Zelda that we took back in rito village

I drew the heads first then worked on Zelda. I made sure to work hard on her in case she saw it at some point which I hoped wouldn't happen.

About an hour later people started getting up so I knew I didn't have a lot longer to draw but continued anyways. I was working on my hair now. Zelda was finished. I say it looked quite pretty. There was a flower in her hair and she was smiling.

I saw that she was starting to wake up so I put the book away in the slate and sat criss crossed on the bed. She woke up yawning and looked over to me. She then started laughing. Confused I cocked my head to the side "L-link you look so adorable! Its funny that the hero of hyrule could look so cute!" she said wiping her eyes. I registered what she had said. Adorable? Cute? I gave her a dopey smile.

We decided that it was time to go. The korok forest was quite far from here so we had to leave early. We ate on the way out of the desert.

Zelda was smiling happily while walking "Link you make the best fruitcake ever! And these crapes are amazing!" I smiled "Thanks..."

We got to the end of the desert where the stable was and got our horses. I brought out Epona and she brought out light. We started mapping out the best route to get to the forest. It would take half a days time if we went full speed.

We galloped fast down the plains of hyrule. It really was a beautiful land. More so now that the malace was gone. And it seemed perfect for Zelda. She was now technically a queen right? I didnt want to bring it up just yet as to not upset her. I think for now she just wanted to be free from her dutys that have been haunting her for her entire life.

A couple hours later we were in front of the foggy forest. We left our horses right outside since no one dared to come near the place. I brought out a torch and lit it on one of the fire pits and we started walking through the fog.

We followed where the embers were leading us. The first time I did this I didn't understand what had to be done and I got lost countless times but I eventually figured it out. And when I did I was greeted by adoring fans that were the cutest. The koroks really made me feel at home.

We walked into the center of the forest where it wasn't foggy. I put out my torch and brought out my master sword again. We walked in and saw the great deku tree. I also saw hetsu out of the corner of my eye. He was dancing with come of the smaller koroks.

We walked up to the master swords pedestal "Who goes there? Did I dose off again?" The great deku tree muttered. He then seemed to recognize mine and zelda presence "My my... its very good to see you again Princess Zelda.. or should I say Queen Zelda?" She smiled and shook her head "I'm not up for that title yet. Only when hyrule is back to its former glory will I be recognized as a true queen." She said. I internally sighed relived I wouldn't have to ask her about that.

He then turned his attention to me "Link you have done well to save her from Ganons malace. You are now a true hero of hyrule." I smiled and nodded my head respectfully. "I've come here to complete the last of the sword trials." "Mmm... that would be wise. Yes. Do it whenever your ready link." I nodded. First I took out a meal that gave me two extra hearts since that's as far as I could go. Then I got one more full ring on stamina.

I turned to Zelda and smiled sheepishly "Wish me luck." She nodded "Please be careful link." I nodded. "I'll see you when I get back." I then began to stick the sword into the pedestal for the last time and was immediately teleported into the sword.

Zelda (POV)

I sighed as I watched links body turn into blue and go into the sword. I was worried for him. I know if he fails he will come right back here fine but I also know that he feels pain doing these trials.

"So princess... might I ask, have you told link thoes words?" I looked at my feet "Not quite yet no... its not the right time for him to know my true feelings. I've decided that the day that hyrule castle is finished, that exact day,, I will tell him. I'll tell him that I..." I paused and smiled "That I love him."

Link (POV)

I ducked into a building that looked as if it was straight from hyrule castle. I took a ragged breath. I was on the last battle. I was wounded harshly though. I brought pit the slate and ate some rock hard food I made from multiple wood stacks. When your about to die tou would eat anything to get your hearts up. They worked and I was back at full health in no time.

I had just used a ancient arrow on the lynal and both of the guardians. Now all that was left was a gold bokoblin that was on top of a horse.

I went to the top of the building and looked at my surroundings. There it was in the field. I had 5 more ancient arrows left. I decided I wasn't risking it and would use it on the thing. I paraglided off and time seemed to slow down. I shot it dead in the head and it disappeared. When I hit the ground I heard a sound. The door to freedom unlocking.

I ran towards it and it brought me to a room with 5 or 6 monks in a circle. "Im outta here." I mutter as I made my way up the long and steep staircase.

Zelda (POV)

I sat next to the pedestal not taking my eyes off the sword "Whats taking him so long? I wish he would get back already..." I say worried. Just then the sword glowed and out came link. I jumped up "Link!! Your back! I-" he looked at me for a spilt second before collapsing into my arms. "Woah woah woah... okay... uhm let's see. Where should i-" I was interrupted by a tugging on my sleeve. "Hi! I'm a korok. Wr have a bed for Mr. Hero right this way if you follow us.

They took me to a place inside the deku tree. There were many stores as well as a cooking pot and a bed. I placed him in it and covered him with the soft leafy covers I took a fairy tonic out of the slate and made him drink some. This could help. I just hoped that he would wake up soon.

I sat down on the floor next to him and fiddled with the slate. Thats when I noticed in the key items there was a notebook that wasn't mine. "No no no thats rude to go though peoples stuff! But... he did go into my diary. He thinks I don't know so he won't have to know about this!!" I convinced myself and took out the book. It had thick paper and a sheika pencil attached to the side.

I opened it and my eyes grew wide. There were countless drawings in there. The first one was a chipmunk eating an account. The second one was a bluppe. The third one was a silent princes flower and the fourth one... "Oh wow..." it was me. Well me AND him but I was the only one finished. I looked lovely. And happy. I was with him of course I was gonna be happy. Link always made me happy but this... this is a while new level.

I put it back in the slate and started squealing a bit. Thats when I heard a rustling noise next to me. It was link waking up. I jumped on the bed and took his face in my hands "Link! Oh my gosh are you alright?" He looked at me confused and then smiled "Hey Zelda... wait. Whats going on?!"

I explained to him what had happened and he frowned "Im so sorry zelda." I smiled "Link its alright..." he then seemed to think of something. "Gimme the slate." I gave it to him and he looked at it smiling.

He took at deep breath and looked at me "Happy birthday Zelda!" I looked at him bewildered and then at the time on the slate '1:33 am...' I thought "You... remembered that" He smiled "Of course I did... I also got you a little something..." he trailed off and went into the slate again.

He then pulled out a red box "I uh... hope you like them..." he said rubbing the back of his head. "Oh link you didn't have t..." I opened the box to see the most beautiful diamond earings which was matched with a diamond necklace. "Oh my hylia link... there beautiful but this must've cost you a fortune! Why would you do this?" He looked at me and smiled "I thought you would look pretty in them. Go on put them on. I have to see if I'm right." I blushed and nodded slowly.

I repeirced my ears and attempted to put on the necklace but I couldn't do it. "Could you help me with this?" I asked turning around. He took the ends of the necklace and put them together. I felt this fingers brushing up against my neck repeatedly and it made my heart flutter.

I turned back around and looked at him. He stared at me with his mouth slightly agape and I started to get worried "U-uhm... how does it look?" He swallowed and started to speak "You look amazing..." I don't even think he relized he said that because he smiled and heald up the slate and took a picture of me. Bad news was that I looked very flustered. Link just said I looked amazing. Wow.

I never knew I could love him even more than I already did.
