Links P.O.V

I watched as the terror that had been feared over all of Hyrule, vanished into thin air being swept up in the ball of light used to capture it.

It suddenly all went still. Like there was no movement in the whole world. Not even my blue tunic seemed to be moving. Zelda had her back to me, her hands at her sides. I went to walk up to her when I heard her voice speak to me.

""I've been keeping watch over you all this time." I stepped forward a bit "I witnessed your struggles to return to us as well as your trials in battle." She paused for a moment. "I always thought- no. I always believed that you would find a way to defeat Gannon. Ive never lost faith in you over these many years..." she trailed off. She then slowly turned around facing me completely. "Thank you, link... The hero of Hyrule. May I ask..." she hesitated "Do you really remember me?"

I looked at her "Mostly yes princess." I said smiling a bright smile. She gasped smiling and running up to me, tightly wrapping me in a hug. I reciprocated while placing my cheek on her head. I hadn't felt so happy in a long time.

For a while we just stayed there enjoying each other. I never wanted to let go of her again. She looked up at me. "Link... I missed you so, so much..." she said. I nodded "Me too." I said. She hugged me tighter and then let go. We looked at the castles ruins. It was a dreadful sight but was also nothing compared to what it was before.

Zelda looked up at me again "Can we... go inside? I think that we should get anything we can salvage before theivs get to it first" She asked. I looked at her concerned. She looked exhausted and was obviously in need of some food. "Yes but first..." I trailed off grabbing the sheika slate and bringing out a hearty mushroom skewer. She greatfully took it and ate it within 10 seconds. She had to be hungry. She looked at me and was looking much better than before.

I smiled and then called Power, one of my many horse's. Power was a very big horse and quite unique looking. He had redish orange hair and a black coat but was overall a very handsome steed.

He came galloping our way and neighed when he got to us. I pat his head "Goodnight job out there..." I said. I then hopped on his back. I looked down at Zelda and heald out my hand to her. She happily accepted it and got behind me while hugging my waist tightly.

"HYAH!" I shouted as my horse started to gallop towards the castle. We took great care to look out for any remaining enemies. The blood moon had been going on for thousands of years so there was for sure lots of monsters. Who knew if there were more or less though?

I slowed Power down not wanting to bring my poor horse with us just in case. I then gave Zelda a eighfold blade being as cautious as I could. Even though she didn't know how to use swords, it still made me feel a bit more reassured and she seemed to be as well.

We went in through the front entrance. All of the guardians had been taken out by me before I went to Gannon as I knew it would be easier in the future.

We head inside the abandoned castle and looked around. There were no more of thoes discusting partials that burned when you touched them. It was just... empty.

"Where to first?" I ask looking down at Zelda who I placed in front of me. She looked up "Well could we go to my study first? I really wanna see if my research books are alright." She said smiling a bit. I nodded "Come with me I know a way up where we won't have to run into any monsters." I said.

We quickly raced up a big staircase with many holes leading down to rocks and debree below. Zelda then paused in front of the room. She looked almost scared to go in. She then slowly walked along the bridge and peered into the room. She gasped "Whats wrong??" I ask concerned. She then looked towards me smiling. "Look!" She said pointing

I looked in the direction she had pointed out and smiled. There were silent princesses growing in a corner of the room. "Thats just incredible! There's so many!" She exclaims rushing over to them. She smelled them and then plucked one from the ground "Taking just one wont hurt right?" She said hopeful. I smiled "There are so many around hyrule you could take as many as you want." I said.

She then put the flower in her hair and tied it to a strand so it wouldn't fall out. She paused but proceeded to look around the small study. She stopped at a desk. "My journal! Its actually still here..." she said happily. She picked it up and brought it over to me. "Could you put this in the sheika slate please?" She asked. I smiled and nodded bringing the slate up to the book and putting it in my important slots.

We walked out of the musty room and down the spiral staircase leading to her old room. She looked around sadly. She walked over to her old desk and piped up "Oh my hylia my diary! Its actually still in tact!" She squealed. I smiled but decided not to tell her I had read them.

She then looked at the ground. "Do you think anything else is scalvageable?" She said stressed. I thought for a.moment before smiling a bit "I have something to show you." She looked confused but nodded.

I then lead the way to the ginormous library "The library?" She asked looking around. I smiled and pulled out the sheika slate. I went to the magnisus ability and used it. Everything in my vision went redish. There was a dark red box and that was exactly what I was looking for.

I pushed my arm forward at it when it turned yellow and pulled the box of metal out. Zelda gasped "I never knew that was there!" She said in awe. I put the slate back and walked her in while picking up the shield that was within the room. "This... was your father's study. I think you would wanna read this. Maybe later though." I said picking up the dusty book. She nodded and I put it in the slate along with her other journals.

We decided to get the hell out of the gloomy castle and into the wild. We walked out of the castle while Zelda seemed to be a bit at peace. "Where to now princess?" I ask. She looked up at me smiling a bit "Where do you think we should go first?" I thought for a minute. "Well would you like to go see impa?" I ask. I figured she would live to see her old friends again. She brightly smiled "Yes of course! How is she by the way?" I smiled "She doing good for her age."

We then set off to kakariko village atop powers back. "Hey would you like to stop at the stables and get your own horse? I have the perfect one for you..." she looked a bit... disappointed? But nodded none the less.

We stopped at the closest stable which was outskirts stable. I boreded power because he was getting tired. I brought out Epona and light. Light was the all white horse wearing the royal armor while Epona was wearing the guardian armor.

When I brought light over to Zelda she looked like she almost fainted. "Oh my gosh! She looks just like my old horse! Whats her name?" She asked rushing over and stroking her mane. "Her names light. She sure seems to like you though!" I say happily. She smiles and looks at the beautiful horse lovingly.

We then started riding off to the village. We were going full speed due to it almost being dark. When we finally got there everyone was already asleep which meant impa was too "Do you wanna get a room at the inn until morning?" I ask not wanting to be rude and wake up impa. "Thats most likely for the best." She said "wait how we we pay?!" She asked panicking. I chuckled "I have a lot of rupees Zelda. Don't worry." I said. She relaxed a bit "Thank you link..."

I took our horses to the side of the inn and went inside with Zelda. I got her a soft bed and me a regular. When she found this out she scolded me saying I should have gotten her a regular bed.

Over my dead body.

We then went to sleep and I instructed the lady at the desk to wake us in the afternoon. Zelda needed her rest.

In the morning

When we woke up Zelda scolded me once again for letting her sleep in. I chuckled which she did not find very funny.

We then headed out to impas home. When Dorian saw us he almost collapsed "Link! And... Z-ZELDA?!" He exlaimed. "Shhhhh~ we wanna keep on the down low for now." I said cautious. He nodded understanding. "P-please go in. Impa must be excited to see you again." We nodded in union and ran up the stairs passing a very confused paya on the way up.

We walked in and saw impa sitting on her cushion smiling "I knew it! Its over." She said slapping her hand to her leg. Zelda started crying and ran up to impa hugging her "I missed you so much!" She exclaimed "As did I princess..." impa said trying her best to hug Zelda fully.

Impa then asked us what our plans were. "I wanna rebuild hyrule. I know it will take many many years and a lot of help but I feel that we can do it. The castle can be rebuilt as well as castle town and all the other towns that had been destroyed. We will get rid of the yiga clan and make a big jail cell for them in the basement of the castle." Zelda said. Impa nodded. "While that is a proper plan ot would be wise to take about a month off before getting to all of that. You will need many resources and perhaps some training lessons from your knite and shining armor?" She said almost tauntingly. I blushed a bit but stayed quiet. "U-uh well yes o-of course! I-if he doesn't mind that is... d-do you link?" She asked turning to me with a peachy face.

"Of course not. It would make me feel much better." I said trying to stay as normal as possible. She turned back to impa who now had her hand to her mouth and was chuckling.

"Well then its settled. Link you have a home in hanteo village don't you? Why not set up there?" She said looking at me. Zelda looked at me bewildered "A house? Link? Thats so not like you! I love it!" She gushed rushing over to me smiling. I rubbed the back of my neck embarrassed. "Y-yea well..."

We then set off with a final goodbye to impa. While passing paya I stopped to say hi. We had grown to be friends of a sort. "Hey paya. This is-" "oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh I know! Zelda its such an honor! My grandmother has told me so many stories about you! I'm such a fan!" Paya said rushing up to Zelda. But she frowned "That dress can't be too comfortable can it? Wait here one second!" Paya said rushing off. I chuckled "Well thats not like her at all. She can barely talk around me. I started to think she didn't like me but she said she's just shy around me." Zelda seemed to get a look of... anger? At that statement.

A second later paya came rushing out with a white box in hand "Grandmother must have forgotten to give this to you but... here. Its your traveling clothing!" She said handing the box to Zelda. Zelda looked at the box with tears forming in her eyes. She handed the box to me and brought paya in a big hug "Oh thank you so much!" She said. She then grabbed my hand "Cmon link I gotta try these on!" She exclaimed. I chuckled "Bye paya! Thanks so much!" I yelled out a bit. She nodded still awestruck that the princess of hyrule just hugged her.

We went into the clothing shop and asked to use the changing room. She said yes and Zelda walked in while I stood outside the room.

When she walked out she looked a hundred times more comfortable. She the looked at me "Oh my gosh I feel more like myself! This is amazing!" She said spinning around a bit. I blushed at this. She was honestly the most perfect person I had ever seen.

We then left and got on our horses "Now lead the way Link! I wanna see what your house looks like! Zelda said while feeding her horse a apple. I nodded smiling.

It took about two hours to get there which wasn't so bad. We talked about what the plan was. She said that after a day at the village they would head to Gordon city because the Divine Beast Va Rudania seemed to be malfunctioning.

Wd slowed there horses and i got in front of Zelda. We crossed the bridge leading to links small house. When Zelda saw it she gasped "Wow link! Flowers? A sign? You sure have changed!" She said chuckling. I smiled as she hopped off my trusted horse. I took both of the tired horses into the small stable at the side of the house and fed them 2 carrots and 3 apples each.

Zelda waited for me on the side awkwardly. She seemed like she didn't really know what else to do.
I then turned to her. "Wanna go in?" I asked. She nodded vigorously and pulled my blue tunic towards the front door.

We got inside and Zelda started looking around. It was a simple home but it felt very comfortable. On the walls were multiple weapon, shield, and bow racks. Zelda took note that on all of them were the champions prized weapons. I think it made Zelda happy to see a part of them were in my home.

"I-I know its.not very extravagant but its all I could really afford back then..." I said sheepishly. She probably thought this was a dump compared to what she was used to. She shook her head to my surprise. "Are you kidding? This is like my dream home. Well maybe a few more rooms for a study and things but this is better than I had ever had before!" She explained looking around the house. She seemed to notice the stairs and raced up them.

She looked around a bit before stopping. "Awe link... you have this picture in your home. Thats so sweet..." I realized she was referring to the group picture between all of us champions. I nodded "Of course. Its my favorite thing in this whole house. Well it WAS until you got here..." I said the last part quietly. "Hm? What was that last part?" She asked curiously. 'Shit.' "OH UHH nothing important!" Thank hylia she let it slide that time.

We decided to go for a walk. We went up atop a hill while Zelda fumbled around with the sheika slate. "Tomorrow we will make our way to goron city. Apparently va rudania has stopped working." I nodded "its getting late princess we should head back." I said looking up at the twilight sky. She nodded.

We got back into my house and I said I would set up a cott in the ground and she could have the bed. She hesitantly accepted but said I could have the bed if I wanted it.

Before she went upstairs she came up to me "Hm- oh is something wrong prinsess?" I ask. She then runs into my chest "Goodnight link. I'll see you in the morning!" She said flustered and ran off to the upstairs. My heart fluttered but then I remembered I couldn't feel anything like that. I was her knite! And she was royalty. It was forbidden back then. Besides...
What would I even want out of us?
