Not Oblivious - Part 1

Takes place after Cyrus' Bash Mitzvah. Jonah picks up on the way Cyrus acts around him, and comes to a conclusion with the help of Andi.

Ever since he came out to Andi, Cyrus had been feeling at one with himself. Knowing that the Good Hair Crew knew how he felt about Jonah was a relief more than anything. The only problem he had was that it was becoming more and more difficult to fight his feelings for the other boy.

Andi was a little sad that Cyrus had waited so long to tell her, but she was proud of him for being honest. She knew her own feelings for Jonah, but at the same time, she felt that they were not meant to be together, so she fully supported Cyrus.

At The Spoon, the Good Hair Crew were sat in a booth, when Jonah entered. He was still a little shaken from his panic attack, but was also glad that it was over. He sat down opposite Cyrus.

Jonah: Hey guys.

Andi: Hey you.

Buffy: How's it going?

Jonah: Good, I think.

Jonah couldn't help but notice the fact that Cyrus was not looking at him. The smaller boy looked down at the table, and this concerned his only guy friend.

Jonah: Cyrus, are you okay?

Cyrus: Yeah Jonah.

No one was convinced, but Cyrus had looked up and finally met Jonah's gaze. It sent his heart into overdrive as he looked at his crush directly.

Jonah: You sure?

Cyrus: Absolutely, I have an amazing view!

Jonah: O...kay?

Jonah's reaction caused Cyrus to become anxious. He was becoming more embarrassed as time went on.

Cyrus: What, can I not compliment you?

Jonah: Of course you can.

Buffy: Will you two please stop flirting for one minute?!

Andi gave Buffy a look, one that told her to calm down. Buffy had forgotten that Jonah hadn't been told about how Cyrus felt, and crossed the line.

Buffy: I'm just joking, will you relax?

Jonah: Andi, can I talk to you in private?

Andi: Sure, come on.

As Jonah and Andi went away, Cyrus looked at Buffy with a sad expression. He had felt really awkward around Jonah, more so than ever.

Buffy: You should just tell him how you feel.

Cyrus: I don't see the point. It's clear he would not like me. He was weird when I complimented him.

Buffy: I expect he was just taken by surprise, that's all.

Cyrus: Even if that was true, he would never speak to me again.

Buffy: Can you start looking at your life with more logic? I mean come on, you know he would never treat you like that. You mean too much to him.

Buffy was constantly frustrated by Cyrus' lack of self esteem. She had always believed in him and hoped that he would finally start believing in himself.

Cyrus: I mean too much to him?

Buffy: You are his closest friend, he wouldn't do anything to lose you.

Whilst Cyrus contemplated what Buffy had said, Jonah wanted to talk to Andi, but he was not exactly sure of himself.

Andi: What did you want to talk about?

Jonah: This is going to sound weird, okay?

Andi: Okay, go on Jonah.

Jonah: Have you seen the way Cyrus has been behaving around me lately?

Andi: What do you mean?

Jonah: He is very awkward, avoids eye contact. It's almost as if...

Jonah wasn't even convinced about what he was going to say, and he didn't know whether it was smart to talk about it.

Andi: As if what?

Jonah: It's as if he likes me.

Andi: You're his best friend, of course he likes you.

Jonah: No, I mean I think he has feelings for me.

All of a sudden, Andi knew that she was going to have to make a decision. She could tell Jonah about Cyrus, or she could be a loyal friend and wait until Cyrus is ready to tell Jonah himself. It was surprisingly difficult.

Andi: Do you not like that?

Jonah: I'm... I don't know.

Andi: How would you feel if he did have feelings for you? Tell me the truth.

Jonah: I would have to think things through I suppose.

Andi: Does that mean you're gay?

Jonah: I'm not sure what I am, but I would like to know how Cyrus really feels.

Andi was feeling like she could explode. If she told him how Cyrus felt, she would hurt her friend, but if she said nothing, Cyrus may never get the chance to find out.

Andi: Why don't you ask him?

Jonah: Wouldn't he find that unusual?

Andi: Cyrus is an open person when it comes to feelings, I believe he would gladly talk to you about it.

Jonah: Okay Andi, I'll talk to him.

They walked back over to Cyrus and Buffy, which caused Andi to have quiet satisfaction. She hoped that Cyrus would tell Jonah the truth.
