By the time the little shopping spree was over, Jade had large heavy bags of clothes in her arms. Leafeon trying to help by having one of the bags on his back. They soon met up with Fantina who was waiting for them outside.

"Well, I got an outfit that I think would fit for each member of my team," she said. "And they also chose some accessories that they liked."

"We had to pull Delcatty away from the clothing store before she tried to buy an entire wardrobe for herself though." Rhyme added. "I didn't know just one pokemon would be so interested in fashion."

"Yeah, that was an event. Had to return her to her pokeball so she wouldn't sneak things into the shopping cart when I wasn't looking."

"Excellent. Now that you have the proper attire, we can proceed with training. Follow me."

So once again, Jade found herself standing in the middle of what she assumed was a practice arena in the back of the contest hall. With Fantina's insistence, she was wearing one of the new outfits that she had bought.

It was a simple tan dress that faded to green at the bottom that reached her knees. A green cardigan covers her arms. To top it all off some brown fingerless gloves and boots. Jade adjusted the cardigan before looking at Leafeon.

"This looks a bit like you right?" she asked.

"Eon." the Verdant Pokemon replied with a smile. He wasn't sure why, but the thought of his trainer doing her best to look like him made him happy. Even trying to imitate his paws. It was a shame that they couldn't find anything to imitate the leaf on his head. The closest they got was a green ribbon to tie her hair back in a ponytail.

"Now, onto the real training. I have seen what your pokemon are capable of individually. But I am curious on how strong they are together." Fantina said as she let out a Drifblim and Mismagius from their pokeballs. "We shall find out with a double battle."

'Oh, the battle rounds in the grand festival here are double battles aren't they?' Jade thought. 'I guess that means some of the other contests have the chance to be in a double battle format.'

"Well, Leafeon, Delcatty. Do you two wanna start this off?"

Her two partners nodded and stepped forward to face their two opponents.

'This is the first time I've dealt with a Gym Leader in any kind of battle. I hope that we can do okay.'

"You may begin whenever you are ready," Fantina said with a smile.

Jade nodded. "Okay then. Then we'll start this off with Blizzard and Magical Leaf."

The two attacks combined to create frozen leaves that made their way toward Drifblim and Mismagius. The two ghost types remained calm, waiting for their orders.

"Use Dazzling Gleam and Confuse Ray," Fantina said.

The ice leaves were soon counteracted by blinding light, shattering the moment they came too close. The light continued to barrel through the combined attack and make its way toward Leafeon and Delcatty. The two were knocked back the moment the light hit them. When it faded, Delcatty seemed to have recovered from the attack fairly quickly. Leafeon on the other hand struggled to stand upright, almost tripping over his own feet.

"L-Leafeon are you okay?" Jade asked worriedly.

"It is not only two attacking moves that create beautiful combinations, Jade," Fantina told her. "You must think of what even non-attacking moves can offer you too."

'The light from the Confuse Ray blended in with the Dazzling Gleam so neither of them could tell where it was coming from. It was only by a stroke of luck that Delcatty wasn't affected by it.'

"Now, both of you use Shadow Ball." 

Delcatty glanced at her confused partner and the next attacks coming at them. At the last second, she jumped in front of Leafeon, taking the hits for him. The ghost-type attacks bounced right off her, not taking any kind of effect. The gesture seemed to have snapped the Verdant Pokemon out of his confusion.

"Leaf.." he muttered sheepishly before regaining his balance. Delcatty simply purred and winked at him in response.

Jade let out a sigh of relief to see her partner had recovered from the confusion quickly.

"Okay, let's try another combination. Use Grass Whistle and Attract!"

Leafeon then began whistling a soothing melody as Delcatty posed and winked once again, music notes and hearts fluttering around them. The two moves bounced off each other, and Jade instantly noticed that Drifblim and Mismagius were being affected by the song. But they were displaying the usual signs of a pokemon being under the influence of attract.

'So Attract with Grass Whistle makes it so the music makes them fall under Attract...' she thought. 'Guess if there was ever a love song kind of move, this would be the closest thing to it. But I can't get lost in thought when there's a battle going on. I need to use this chance while we have it.'

"Delcatty, use Shadow Ball on Drifblim and Leafeon, you use Leaf Blade on Mismagius."

Leafeon nodded and rushed toward his target while Delcatty charged up her next attack. The two attacks landed on the opposing ghost types perfectly. In reaction to that, Fantina smiled and clapped her hands.

"Yes! What a marvelous move that you've created. Let us proceed shall we?"

Jade nodded. But before either of them could call out another move, they heard a phone ring, catching everyone off guard. From the sound of it, the ringing was coming from Fantina. Jade and Rhyme's suspicions were proven correct when the ghost-type gym leader answered the phone. The conversation only lasted for a few moments before she hung up and faced Jade.

"I'm terribly sorry but it seems I have to postpone our battle. There are urgent matters I must attend to."

"O-Oh. I guess it can't be helped. Thank you for your time anyway." Jade replied.

"We shall meet again soon, Jade. But in the meantime, please take this. A gift from me."

When Mismagius and Drifblim were returned to their pokeballs, Fantina tossed a stone to Jade, who looked at it with some confusion.

"It is a Dusk Stone. Use it on your little Misdreavus whenever it is ready to evolve. Until next time, my friend. I look forward to seeing you at your next performance."

Jade said her goodbyes as Fantina rushed off.
