zero is nothing

we were taught this in kindergarten

maybe younger 

if i have zero apples,

i have nothing

i think i am zero 

because i am nothing

i have no worth 

no money to spend 

no money to gain 

no emotions to give

no emotions to take 

my under-eyes are dark,

my teeth are yellow

my hair is oily

and i'm a B student

i wonder how the other girls are so popular

how are they perfect,

pretty

how do their eyes glare so blatantly

if they hate me, 

how do they hate something that is zero,

nothing
