Did the smile even show on my face?
My skin is tight like leather
There are bands pulling and pulling on the leather of my face trying to form smiles
Trying to keep emotions in while trying to force other ones out
Because I feel nothing, but I have to smile
These human emotions are complicated
I wonder if I am an alien
A celestial being made out of stars and fake smiles
Given a handful of excitement and put out into the world
Being fearful someone would steal the excitement from me
Ripping the rug from underneath me
And now I am left floating in this empty space
This body I have to call mine
But every time I look at it in the mirror it changes
These human emotions are complicated
All of the things I could be and I chose to be me
It makes me think I am special
It makes me feel special
But I am just a celestial being made out of stars and fake smiles
Given a handful of excitement and put out into the world
Someone ripped the rug from underneath me
Now I float in this empty space
This body I call mine
But every time I look in the mirror
I wonder who's in the reflection
