Ch. 76 - The Queen

We soon arrived in the Orvud District and began to get things together. I helped Eren carry Hange off of the cart and handed her off to Moblit who went to get her medical care. I looked down at my white robes and sighed. I pray I never where these things ever again.

"(Y/N). I forget to tell you something," Levi began and everyone began to gather around. "We need you to do something."

"Yes?" I asked curiously.

"Erwin's orders. Once the battle is over, since you're the true successor to the throne become the Queen," Levi said to me.

My eyes widened and everyone around me seemed just as shocked. They were really going to allow me to become Queen. I can't pass up this chance. I need this position in order to save the warriors who came to the walls.

"Q-Queen?! (Y/N)?!" Sasha said in shock.

"The coup d'etat was successful, but the people wont follow a regiment sitting at the top," Levi explained. "What we need is a story to spread. That a true heir retook the crown from the fake."

"I'll do it," I replied. "I've been hiding for too long. I have spent my life trying to escape this life, but in order to help others I must step up. I will be Queen of the walls."

"Nice going Queen (Y/N)," Annie spoked as she stood beside me.

"We still need to talk about you, Leonhart," Levi brought up.

"No need," I stated and everyone seemed confused. "Don't you all remember in Stohess. I pardoned her and as Queen I promise to have this debate later. We have a titan to kill and don't you dare think about leaving me out of the fight. I also have another condition."

"What is that?" Levi asked.

"Historia is to not be apart of the fight," I replied.

"Huh?!" Historia said confused.

"I am to die in a couple of years aren't I? I need to make sure I have someone to pass the crown to when I'm gone," I explained. "And that would be Historia."

"Fine," Levi replied. "Now all of you. We need to have the strategy meeting."

"(Y/N)! This isn't fair!" Historia yelled.

"I'm sure, if she was in my position, Ymir would do the same thing," I pointed out and looked over towards Ymir.

Ymir sighed and then smiled. "You've got me there. Don't worry Historia. Everyone will be okay and you can order some people around while we're gone. You are Princess of the Walls after all."

"I guess you're right," Historia said defeated.

"Just don't worry about it," Ymir replied and kissed her forehead. "We'll see you soon."

All of Levi Squad, minus Historia, headed to the meeting room. I came in later after I changed into some different clothes to fight in. I stood in line with everyone else and waited to hear the plan.

"We've determined the location of Rod Reiss' titan," a Garrison member spoke. "It's Southwest approaching Orvud. At this rate, it will reach the Orvud district by dawn."

"Understood. Commander Erwin, we'd all like to hear what your plan is," another Garrison member spoke. "How do you intend to evacuate the citizens in time?"

"We won't evacuate," Erwin instantly responded.

"What?" The Garrison member said, confused.

"We'll have the citizens in Orvud remain as they are," Erwin said.

"Are you insane?" The Garrison member asked. "What the hell are you thinking Erwin?! Keep the citizens im the city without evacuating them?! By the time it's dawn, the titan will be all over us!"

"That titan is an abnormal," Hange chimed in.

"What the hell does that even mean?" Garrison dude asked.

"The target titan is strangely attracted to high concentrations of people," Hange explained. "Hence, abnormal. It means the fellow will turn a blind eye to a small village, ignoring it and favoring a fortified city. If you were to evacuate right now, it would be drawn towards them and destroy the wall in it's path. In the end, it would reach Mistras, with the greatest density of people and deliver a devastating blow to humanity. Both of our titan holders are unable to Command such a titan."

Eren tried to, but I had to explain to him that a titan containing royal blood cannot be commanded.

"If we are to stop that titan, we must do so outside the walls of Orvud district," Erwin stated. "For that to happen, we must have the citizens act as bait. However, this does not change the fact that our first duties as soldiers is to protect the citizens. Supposing we're not able to stop the target, we'll take measures to ensure that no citizen is killed. We'll announce an emergency evacuation drill for Orvud district, so that if needed, the citizens will be able to evacuate at once."

"It seems there's no other choice," the Garrison member responded.

"The body of our target is the largest we've seen," Erwin pointed out. "As such, it presents an easy target. Wall mounted cannons should prove highly effective, but if that's not enough to bring it down...The Scout regiment will throw everything we have at it."

That was our plan. By dawn, all of us were on top of the wall getting ready to think of a plan just in case the cannons don't work. The sound of constant cannon fire was in my ears for at least more than a minute. Eventually it became silent and the titan wasn't moving.

"Well, how's that...?" Erwin spoke but then the titan began to move again. "The ground cannons seem even less effective."

"Of course they are," Levi replied. "The wall cannons barely hit the nape even with the better angle. What's the problem?"

"It's a mishmash of soldiers, cannons they're scraped together, superficial leadership. To top it off, this is a northern region," Erwin stated. "Unlike troops on the front lines, they have no battle experience. However this is the best we're going to get and that's a fact."

"Yeah, that much is painfully obvious," Levi added on. "Yet again, your strategy for the scouts boils down to another gamble. Just like everything else you conjure up."

"Erwin! I brought the goodies!" Hange called. "A the gunpowder, ropes, and netting I could find. We'll have to assemble it ourselves. So, is the artillery doing any damage?"

"Slightly more than a pissing insect," Levi responded.

"Then we're really planning on using this?" Hange asked.

"Levi, Jean, Sasha, Connie, Ymir. You all take care of the other side," Erwin commanded and they ran off.

"Try to imagine we're wrapping up a nice gift for someone special," Hange explained.

I chuckled and began to wind up some rope as Commander Erwin approached me.

"I believe you heard from Levi, (Y/N)," Erwin spoke and I looked up at him. "Supposing we live through this, we'll have you become the Queen, ruling our world in the walls. Naturally, having you on the front lines poses a problem."

"I think it won't work. You think someone will just bow down to a ruler by name only?" I pointed out.

"What do you have in mind?" Erwin asked.

"Let me have the killing blow," I replied strongly. "If I kill the titan in front of these people, they will see me as a leader and someone they can trust. This will boost moral for my coronation and the citizens will all agree on me becoming Queen. Doesn't that sound like a good idea?"

Badass Queen! Work it!

(Y/N) gonna be Queeeeeen! Gonna kill that titan!

I like to imagine Reiner is just impressed with what all (Y/N) accomplished while they're apart. Like, go girl!

Also, I just had an image of Annie, Reiner, Bertholdt, Ymir, Porco, Pieck, and even Eren just fighting over (Y/N) and I love it. I wish I had art skills XD

In a way that's kinda some hint at what could happen in the future with some other titan shifters and (Y/N).
Reiner gotta fight harder for love.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the chapter!
