Chapter 31

"Good Evening to you all. First of all, let me introduce the newest member to our staff, Horace Slughorn." Everybody but Draco and I clapped for him as he stood up. I looked at Draco and Dumbledore's voice drifted off. I squeezed his hand under the table for reassurance. He squeezed back. After, I just listened to him ramble on until he excused us for bed. Draco and I both lazily got up and walked down corridor after corridor. We entered the Common Room to be packed with students. I was just about to walk down the stairs to my dorm when I felt a hand go around my wrist. It was Draco. I knew he was going to have me come up to his dorm, for what? I don't know. I walked into his dorm and sat on his bed with him.

"How do you do it?" he asked.

"Do what?"

"How do you move on, and act like its nothing?" he turned to look at me.

"Well, at first it was hard. I didn't know how to, but after a while, I just thought to myself, I've got to put others before myself and I guess it worked part of the time. I remember thinking that if I'm going to ever move on I need to make the best of it, and that's what I did." I concluded. He stared to the floor.

"Draco, I know I don't know everything, about your mission, you have to do something else. What is it?"

He hesitated, but told me anyway. "I have to kill Dumbledore." His voice cracked. I opened my mouth to speak, but couldn't find the right words. I turned to him and hugged him. He hugged back instantly. "I'm really glad I have you Nyx. If you weren't here, then I'd be on my own." His muffled voice said into my shoulder.

"I'll stay with you, if you'd like?" I asked.

"I'd like that." He whispered. He gave me a shirt and some pajama pants to sleep in. I cuddled up to him and fell asleep.

The next morning Draco and I had Potions. We walked in lastly and stood in the far left corner. Slughorn had made some potions that he was going to teach us about. Ron and Harry walked in late.

"Ahh, Harry my boy, I was beginning to worry. Brought someone with us I see." Slughorn eyed Ron.

"Ron Weasley, sir. I'm dead awful at potions, you see, so I'm probably just gonna" Ron started backing away.

"Nonsense, any friend of Harry's is a friend of mine. Get your books out."

"Sorry sir, but I haven't actually got my book yet, nor has Ron." Harry butt in.

"Oh, not to worry, get what you want from the cupboard." Slughorn turned back around. "Now as I was saying, I brewed some concoctions this morning, do you have any ideas what these might be?" he asked the class. Hermione's hand shot up.

"Yes Miss-"

"Granger sir." Hermione continued walking up to one of the cauldron's. "That one there is Veritaserum, it's a truth telling serum, and that one is Polyjuice Potion, it's terribly tricky to make, and the last one is Amortentia, the most powerful love potion in the world. It's rumored to smell different to each person depending on what attracts them. For example I smell, freshly mown grass and new parchment, and spearmint...toothpaste." She concluded coming back into the group.

"Now Amortentia doesn't create actual love, that would be impossible, but it does create a powerful infatuation or obsession, for that reason, it is probably the most dangerous potion, in this room. Just out of curiosity, Miss Parkinson what do you smell?" I drifted off into space, not thinking of anything in particular.

"And Miss Thyme?"

"Hmm?" I snapped back to reality.

"What do you smell?" he asked.

"Oh, umm, I smell, fresh rain, a campfire...and I can't seem to put a finger on the last one."

"Well what does the last one smell like?" he eyed me. I thought about it for a second inhaling the mesmerizing scent.

"It's kind of musky but it has a hint of peppermint." I know I have smelt this before, but where?

"Yes, Miss Granger Liquid Luck. Desperately tricky to make, disastrous if you get it wrong. One sip and you will find that all of your endeavors succeed." Draco's ears perked up at this part.

"At least until the effects wear off. So, this is what I offer each of you today, one tiny vile of liquid luck, if one of you successfully brews a draft of living death. Recipes which can be found on page ten of your books. Nevertheless, good luck to you all, let the brewing commence."

I immediately grabbed my ingredients, knowing that if Draco or I got it, then he wouldn't fail his task. I needed to get it for him. I brewed my potion just the way the book said, but it didn't turn out right. Harry ended up getting the vile of Felix Felisis. I stood next to Draco angry that that's what happened. We left class and finally finished the day off. I was way late, and I was now staying with Draco in his room, but if anyone caught us, they would get the wrong idea. We stayed up late that night and headed for the Room of Requirement.

We pushed the door open and quickly shut it, not wanted anyone to know what we were doing.

"Where do you think it is?" I asked.

"No idea, we'll just have to look around." He whispered. Suddenly a loud crack came from behind us. We turned around and there it was. Maybe we didn't need the Felix Felisis.

Draco and I tore off the big sheet and examined the big piece of furniture. It was going to take a long time to fix this.

"Well now that we know where it is, do you think we should start researching how to fix it?"

"I already know the spell, I just have to make sure it mends it is all." He stated.

"Alright, until then, what are you going to do about Dumbledore?" I asked unsure of what his answer would be.

"I don't know. I was thinking that maybe tomorrow on our Hogsmeade trip I could make someone give him a cursed necklace, instead of doing it directly."

"Well, it's the only idea we have, so let's roll with it. Now let's go to bed, I'm tired."

We left the Room of Requirement and entered the Common Room. I headed to the right, where the girls' dorms were.

"Where are you going?" Draco whispered. I stopped in my tracks.

"To get my pajamas, I'll be right there." I whispered back. I opened the door to my completely empty room. I grabbed some pajamas and went back to Draco's room. I opened the door slowly. He was at his dresser searching for a shirt; he only had his pajama pants on. He quickly found one and slipped it on. I was still really cold even with my warm night clothes on. I hopped into the bed and pulled the covers past my shoulder, still shivering, but quickly stopped after Draco came. With that, I drifted off to sleep.
