Chapter 29

I was completely shocked. I waited there for a really long time. I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, someone was shaking me.

"Anyxus dear, please wake up." A soft voice said, gently shaking my shoulders.

"Narcissa?" I opened my eyes and then realized what had happened. The Ministry had taken Lucius to Azkaban.

"Lucius! They've taken him to Azkaban!" I yelled freaking out.

"Calm down. I already know. I need you to go back to school and comfort Draco. He doesn't know and I think you should be the one to tell him." She looked into my eyes. Hers were a dark chocolate brown.

"Why me? I don't understand." I asked quietly.

"I know Draco cares a lot about you. He has tried to resolve your relationship together, hasn't he?"

"Before, I couldn't stand him, but now we're good friends."

"Exactly, and that is why you must be the one to tell him." She continued. "the Floo Network will take you back to Hogwarts now." I nodded taking some powder and saying Hogwarts. The next thing I knew, I was in Dumbledore's office, alone. I looked around and finally made my way out of his door. It was dark out, and I still didn't want to be caught by Filch. Tomorrow morning everyone was going back home, which is why I found it weird that I didn't just stay at Malfoy Manor. I made it back to my dorm safe and sound. I still had bruises and cuts from the dueling earlier, but I'd be fine. Once my head hit my pillows I fell instantly into a tiresome sleep.

The next morning I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes. I squinted and got out of bed for breakfast. I got dressed and brushed my hair and headed to the Great Hall.

I stepped through the doors and looked for my friends and Draco of course. Draco wasn't there, but my friends were.

"Nyx!" Ginny yelled. I came rushing towards her and giving her a big hug. "Where did you go? We didn't see you leave, we thought you were dead." She broke the hug.

"I was taken to Malfoy Manor, and then later in the evening Lucius Malfoy was escorted to Azkaban."

"Oh..." was all she said. I greeted all my friends, who seemed to be fine and finally packed my bag to journey back to the Burrow. We walked down to the platform, through the trees smelling of pine. I glanced around curiously and saw a flash of platinum blonde hair. I widened my eyes and followed it.

"Draco!" I yelled after him. He turned around immediately and stopped in his tracks. I ran to him, and when I finally got there I was out of breath.

"Nyx, what are you-" he started but I cut him off.

"I need to talk you." I panted. He pulled me over to a nearby bench and we sat. I stood silent for a few seconds to get my breath back.

"What is it? Is something wrong?" he asked.

"Look, I'm not sure how to tell you this, but you need to trust me." I turned to him.

"Of course, what is it?" his face full of concern. I took his hands.

"Draco...last night, your father was taken to Azkaban." I said quietly and slowly. He looked into my eyes. I could see the sadness fill his, water glossing over them. He took his hands away from mine. He didn't say anything, but just stared off into the distance.

"Draco I'm sorry." Looking at him like this made me want to cry. He stayed silent. Finally he opened his mouth to say something, but closed it. I saw a stray tear make its way down Draco's cheek. Once I saw it, I pulled him into a hug. He buried his head in my shoulder, crying silently. After a minute he pulled away and looked me in the eyes, his slightly red.

"We'll get through this, I promise." I whispered.

"No, you don't understand." He shook his head. "He failed his mission, now everything is gonna be messed up." I took his hand again.

"What do you mean everything is going to be messed up?"

"Will you come back to the Manor for summer?" he asked urgently.

"Draco, I..."

"Please...I need you there when it happens." He desperately said. I thought about what 'when it happens' means and it finally hit me.

"Alright, now come on, or we'll miss the train." I stood up with his hands in mine. He slowly stood up and we walked onto the train. We decided to get our own compartment, so that we wouldn't have to deal with everyone else, especially Pansy. God that girl was annoying.

"Is here alright?" I asked Draco who was silent the whole walk through the train. He nodded and we both sat down opposite sides of the compartment. I decided to break the silence.

"So what did you mean when you said 'when it happens'?" I asked. He turned his head to look at me.

"I can trust you right?" I nodded at his question. "Good." He said pulling down the drapes in the compartment. He sat back down.

"I have to become a death eater." He whispered. I wasn't completely surprised, I mean come on, it was only so long before it happened.

"And I can trust you right?" I questioned him. He nodded, but confused. I let out a big sigh and lifted up my left sleeve. His eyes widened and he touched the mark.

"How? When did this happen? Did my parents force you into it?" he accused.

"No, of course not! I've had it for as long as I can remember. I was told I got it the day my parents died." I started to cough mildly. I had just remembered that I made the unbreakable vow and swore not to tell anyone about anything to do with it. My cough turned into a choking cough. I took a cloth up to my mouth and blood splattered it. Draco's eyes widened.

"What's going on!?" he demanded to know. I couldn't answer because I was coughing too hard. Draco took my shoulders. I started gasping for air.

"Nyx! Nyx, just breathe." He said. I could feel hot blood drip down my lip. He jumped up and opened the compartment door leaving me behind. The next thing I knew, my eyes lazily found their way to close and everything was black.

My eyes shot open and I was breathing heavily. I looked around the room and saw nothing but the sun shining through a window. I must be at Malfoy Manor. I got up and slowly made my way downstairs. I could hear talking coming from the kitchen. I pushed the door open and my suspicions were correct. There sat Narcissa Malfoy at the table and Draco standing drinking orange juice. Their heads both turned to me. Draco's orange juice glass fell to the ground.

"Nyx!" he shouted and urgently tightened me in a hug. I hugged back awkwardly still being confused. "I thought you were never going to wake up." He whispered in my hair.

"We're glad you're alright." Narcissa added

"Well, I'm awake now. I still very confused, mind clarifying?" I asked. Draco broke the hug and made me sit down at the table with him.

"On the train ride back to King's Cross, you told me something."

"Okay, I remember that." I said ushering him to move on.

"You started coughing, up blood, to be precise, and then blacked out. We took you to St. Mungo's and they said that those effects were only made by telling someone something that was sworn to secrecy, by the Unbreakable Vow." He looked at me, like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. I sat there silently, not making a sound.

"Why did you tell me, if you made the Unbreakable Vow? You could have died." He asked demanding to know.

"To be honest, I kind of forgot, but I felt like you needed to know, out of all people." I said. He let out a big breath.

"I'm just glad you're alright." He concluded.

"We best fill you in with what will be happening." Narcissa spoke. I broke my eye contact with Draco and turned to look at her who had stood up from her chair.

"You almost slept the whole summer by the way." Draco added. My mouth hung open. I was basically in a coma for a couple of months.

"Tomorrow, you and Draco will be going into Knockturn Alley for some rather important business. Draco, will be given his mission. This will take place in Borgin and Burkes." She said.

"Anything else I should know?" I asked again.

"I don't think so, but if I do, I'll be sure to let you know. Now you must go rest up for tomorrow." She smiled. Draco chuckled.

"Mother, I think she's had enough rest for a lifetime." He said. "How about we play some Quidditch and then have lunch?" he turned to me.

"Sounds like a plan." I smiled at him. I followed him out of the room and to the outside of the manor. We entered a shed where Draco pulled out two brooms. He handed me one and I caught a glimpse of his left forearm. He began to walk.

"Draco?" I asked. He immediately turned around the face me.

"Yeah?"

"I missed it didn't I?" I questioned. I walked up to him.

"What do you mean?" I took his arm and lifted his sleeve. He just looked down at the ground.

"I was suppose to be there, and I wasn't. I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault." He paused. "Well, technically it is. If you wouldn't have told me about your mark then you wouldn't have missed it." He smirked.

"Rude!" I scoffed.

"Alright, now let's go, we don't have all day to play Quidditch." He took my hand and dragged me into an open field. Malfoy Manor was upon acres and acres of land. We each took turn as keeper and chaser, trying to get the quaffle in the homemade rings that were outside.

Once we were finished we head back up to the Manor laughing. We entered through the front door. "-do you remember in third year when I called you an arsehole in Care of Magical Creatures?" I asked him smiling.

"Yes." He muttered. I started to chuckle.

"It is so funny how easy you get pissed off!" I giggled.

"Yeah, yeah, laugh all you want, but do you remember what I whispered to you afterwards?" he asked. I gave him a confused look. He leaned down to my ear.

"Don't tell me you didn't enjoy that kiss, because I know you did." He whispered reminding me of that day he kissed me in the Great Hall. He leaned away and looked at my now blushed cheeks. He must have noticed because he laughed lightly. Just then, Narcissa came into view.

"Ahh, if you children are done I'd like you to go wash up for dinner, seeing as you skipped lunch." She smiled at us.

"Alright mum." He smiled back and kissed her cheek. Looking at them now, I really wondered what it's like to have parents. I mean, Narcissa and Lucius looked after me, but they were never loving to her. I followed Draco up the stairs and we both departed to our rooms. Mine was right across from Draco's on the third floor of the Manor. I closed my bathroom door and took a hot shower. Draco and I had practiced for hours and were dirty and sweaty.
