Your Average Game of Capture the Flag

Heyyyyyy!!! It's me. So, you probably don't know me. But that's fiiiiine, since this is my first fanfic I have ever written! Woohoo! Hopefully I don't suck too much hehe. I'm really sorry if one day I run out of ideas and have to either end it abruptly or put it on hold. I'll try my best tho.

Anyway, on with the story! All canon ships, although I might not do too much rOmAnTiC stuff, so don't worry. *cough*SOLANGELOFORLIFE*cough* agh what was that I must have something in my throat ;). This takes place after BoO. I'm not doing it after ToA because: A) That death... I don't wanna acknowledge it... ;( and B) I don't want to so yeah. Oh and it also takes place after Keys to the Demon Prison and before Dragonwatch. So yeah, spoilers for everything I just talked about.

Oh, and disclaimer: I don't own anything. I'm not Brandon Mull or Rick Riordan. I mean, do I even look like either of them? What were you thinking? Lol. I only own the plot that I made up. I also don't own McDonalds.

Sorry for the long A/N, hope you enjoy!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~1st person Nico~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I, Nico DiAngelo, was not your average 14 year old. First of all, I technically wasn't even 14, more like eighty-something, courtesy of the Lotus Casino. There's also the fact that I was the demigod son of Hades, the Lord of the Underworld. So, yeah. My life was complicated.
I had just been involved in the Second Giant War, and had helped bring the Athena Parthenos back to Camp Half-Blood, a camp for Greek demigods on Long Island. Then, I had taken a nice long nap.
My new boyfriend, Will Solace, who I was still nervous about publicly being with, (But don't tell anyone or I'll rip your soul out.) had just been scolding me on shadow-traveling to get McDonalds and ending up in the camp infirmary when the one and only Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon came rushing into the room.
I had a complicated relationship with Percy. Percy had escorted me into the demigod world, but then had gone on a quest (well not really, more like snuck out on a quest) with my sister Bianca, but long story short, Bianca had died and Percy couldn't save her, even though he had promised me he would do so. And, based on things I did, everyone thought that I had a crush on Annabeth Chase, who later became Percy's girlfriend. It turned out I actually had a crush on Percy...
All things aside, we were friends and allies now, and the past was in the past. (LET IT GOOOO!!! Anybody? Anybody? Just me? Ok, I'll go now. ;/ )
Percy stopped and stared at the two others. "Am I intruding on something?" he asked, getting pale. An angry son of Hades was not someone you wanted to be around.
Will laughed. "No, I'm just scolding sunshine here on how he shouldn't shadow-travel to McDonalds when we literally have magic plates that give us any food we want." He explained, playfully glaring at me. I pouted and mumbled something about how the magic camp food wasn't as good as the real deal.
Percy snorted. "Nico, you're still obsessed with McDonalds?!" he exclaimed, barely containing his giggles. I gave him one of my signature death glares. Nobody insults my McDonalds. Percy just rolled his eyes, being used to me, his cousin, and moved on.
"Alright, anyway, Chiron said to get you guys since it's getting late, and it's almost time for capture that flag."
Will and I nodded, following Percy out of the room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was so ready for capture the flag. Sure, I was still a little spent from my earlier excursion, but I didn't need all of my underworld-y powers to win. The teams were decided (I'm too lazy to come up with all the cabins and teams so just go along with it, I'm not gonna write too much in capture the flag anyway) and it was time to start.

It had been decided that I would be on defense right next to the flag, so that I wouldn't exert myself too much unless I needed too. My boyfriend really had a way of not letting me do anything remotely dangerous.

The conch horn sounded (I think that's what they do? Agh I'm not an expert on everything lol) and the game began. I saw Piper and Annabeth, both girls being on my team, head out across the boundaries to try and find the flag. Leo was the distraction.

I sighed and sat down. It was boring all the way up here. We had chosen to hide the flag in a spot fairly high up on a slope, but hidden by the trees. I started watching all the campers playing. I could see anyone that came too near. Suddenly, I heard a yelp. I couldn't tell who it was, but it wasn't too far away. I considered my options. It could be that someone was surprise-attacked by the other team, but I don't think that would result in a yelp. The one being attacked would fight back. There always was the possibility that it was a trap to get me away from the flag. I frowned. It must be something else. I felt it.

I rushed out from my position by the flag and set off for where I heard the scream come from. Once I got there, I cursed in Ancient Greek. There was a pack of monsters there! And the scream had evidently come from one of the young campers that I didn't know too well. The little girl nervously held out her sword in front of her, but it was evident she didn't stand much of a chance against so many monsters. I growled and pounced. (Warning: I suck at fight scenes and have literally never done one so forgive me lol) I slashed left and right with my Stygian Iron sword, killing monster after monster, but it seemed like they wouldn't stop coming. The girl was doing her part too - she had taken out a few of the smaller opponents. Suddenly, there was a rustle in the bushes behind me. I jumped back and saw Percy fly out onto his butt, soon followed by his girlfriend, who he was evidently fighting against.

"A little help over here!" I called. Percy swung his head around and Annabeth looked up, her stormy grey eyes scanning the threat. The two heroes instantly stopped fighting one another and helped my cause.

The young girl still stood there shaking. "Hey, go back, get as far away from these monsters as you can. Got it?" She nodded her head at my warning and took off running into the forest.

"Where did all of these monsters come from?" Percy wondered aloud. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Annabeth slash a monster and then stop to shrug. "I don't know."

Uh oh. We were in trouble. Annabeth Chase didn't know something? This was bad. I ground my teeth and prepared for the next attack.

After a few more minutes of fighting, I heard another conch horn, and cheers erupted from somewhere away from me. I wasn't sure which team had won, but these monsters definitely didn't care.

"Guys," I called, "I don't think this is gonna stop. I'm gonna shadow travel us out of here." They nodded and grabbed a hold of me.

I focused on the shadow cast by one of the trees nearby me. The sun had recently set, but there was still an amount of light. I stepped into the shadow, trying to focus on getting to a safe place. Knowing my life, that would be the safe part of camp. I focused on the big house, the strawberry fields, the cabins, everything about it. But, it felt like something else, somewhere else was pulling on me. I tried to shake it off and just focus on camp. When I stepped into the shadow, it all went black.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~1st person Seth~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a beautiful day. The sunset had been stunning, and now I was lounging outside in the garden of Fablehaven with my sister, Kendra. Considering my life and what I had been through recently, it was really peaceful and a nice break from crazy. The fairies flitted around, gazing at their reflections in the water of the fountain, and I had no worries.
Kendra sat in a chair next to me, smiling at the glowing coin in her hand. She was probably talking to her boyfriend, Bracken, who also happened to be a unicorn. Well, he wasn't officially her boyfriend, but it was so obvious they should be together. They both liked each other, they saved each other in near-death experiences-
My thoughts were interrupted as I heard a loud thump come from somewhere beside me. I looked, and it looked almost like the shadows had opened up. The thump had evidently come from a kid who was now passed out on the ground face-down. He wore an aviator jacket and black jeans. From what I could see of his skin, he was very pale. The shadows seemed to be condensing and coming from around him.
Next, two more teens stepped out from the shadows, a boy and a girl. The boy had strong features with a defined jaw and determined expression. He has messy raven black hair and brilliant sea-green eyes. He wore jeans and an orange shirt with faded white text and something that looked like a... pegasus? The girl wore the same expression and with her blonde princess curls, she looked like your stereotypical California girl. Except for her eyes. They were a stormy grey and seemed to be calculating your every move. She wore a similar outfit.
After the two stepped out from the shadows, the darkness reduced to a more normal level and it looked as if there had never been a weird shadow-y portal thing-y there.
"Nico!" the girl shouted, and she ran to her passed out companion. The boy took out something from his back pocket that looked oddly like a square of caramel. He shoved a small chunk of it into the other boy's mouth after rolling him over.
The way the shadows had condensed around the unconscious boy reminded me suspiciously of shadow-charming, but I set it aside to mention to Kendra and our grandparents later, in a more private setting.
I focused my attention back on the three teens. The conscious guy muttered something like, "Di Immortales, Nico, what have you gotten us into now," as he scanned the forest in front of us. I wasn't sure how they hadn't noticed us yet, so I decided to speak up.
"That caramel looks good. Can I have some?" The girl and boy both jumped up from their kneeling position and their hands flew to their pockets before they noticed who was speaking. I saw Kendra face-palm out of the corner of my eye.
They seemed to have a silent debate with each other, consisting of stares and puppy-dog eyes. Finally, the girl spoke up.
"Hi. We're, um, lost, so could you tell us where we are right now?" I glanced at Kendra, asking a silent question. Do we tell them they're at Fablehaven? She hesitates, then shakes her head 'no' briefly.
"Uh, we live here. It's our... house?"
"But, where is here?" The girl asks.
"Connecticut?" At this, the teens' eyes widen, then they glance at each other again, before the boy says,
"Yeah, we're definitely lost."
