~ sulit - something that is worth it

Life was a colourful collage adorned by wonderful emotions and dazzling experiences. Pouring down happiness in my heart, everything around me appeared like sheer perfection. I was roaming around the globe with my lovely camera and there was nothing more a passionate photographer could desire for. Yet, I was blessed because I was floating around in a blissful cloud of fantasies which were my realities after all this time because Faye Pearl, the ballerina of my dreams, a soul long waited and craved, was finally mine and nothing was hidden from the world anymore.

We were enjoying our lives in true essence where our days were spent in visiting the grandeur of cities and towns while our nights were spent in star gazing with one another. Everyone knew that we were a couple and even though she was with her ballet team, I accompanied her everywhere as her personal photographer. She had accepted the spotlight after much struggle and I had supported her all along. Sometimes she was affected by her mutism but I was always there to cover it up for her. While she gloriously danced off the moments at grand events, I captured all those moments in the eye of my camera.

International companies from all over the world were sending invitations to us for dinners and parties. The stupid boy with a camera hanging in his neck and the delicate ballerina hidden in the ruffling curtains of shady halls had become famous overnight but nothing mattered to me..nothing, except that she was with me and life was complete after all the wait I had experienced while lurking in the corridors of our high school. Sometimes, the wait is worth it.

I remember that we were in Paris those days when we decided to take a day off from all the lights and attention. Wandering around the city by ourselves, we had visited cosy bookshops filled with mahogany fragrance of withering wood and fading scent of old pages. I had taken some shots by the Eiffel Tower and she had skipped about the streets in her ballet shoes. People had cheered and applaused for her which had made her all the more enthusiastic and happy. While me? I was already glad because her happiness was my happiness.

As the evening spread its colours on the canvas of the sky and the lamposts started glimmering dimly in the streets, we slowly got drunken on each other's souls..getting wilder and more free with every passing moment. Her laughs ringed the night air as we chased each other in winding streets under the sky filled with stars. I couldn't stop smiling at how her happiness was rippling the air around us. Slowly the traffic reduced and it was just me and Faye Pearl in the streets of Paris.

Chuckling lightly under the magic of that night, we sat on a bench by the road while I held her fragile hand lovingly. Looking up at me and smiling shyly, she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear; a habit of hers that had stolen my heart at first sight. My gaze wavered over the pendant in her neck that I had gifted her under the trees back somewhere in the jar of our memories. Since then, she had carried it right next to her heart where it had always belonged.

"I feel like I'm walkin' in a dream, Faye." I had spoken softly while rubbing her hand.

"You know why, Alan?" She had tilted her head slightly.

"Why?" I had caressed her knuckles lightly with my lips.

Her eyes had sparkled and twinkled impossibly in the moonlight as she had smiled brightly and whispered,

"Because your dream has come true."
