The cycle of life revolved around 365 days and before I knew it, we were done with a whole year at the high school. I had passed my grade with flying colours and was pretty much optimistic about my coming life.

The second year began with an important announcement that co-curricular activities were being conducted and all the interested students were meant to take part in it by the end of the month. Seeing my interest in photography, my dorm mates encouraged me to apply for it.

I collected the details and came to know that it was being held by a renowned photographer of the State and the winner was going to be awarded with a part-time job as his personal assistant. In addition to the fact that it felt like a great privilege to me, I knew I needed this job badly to support my finances. Therefore, I filled in my particulars and applied for the competition.

Managing things so perfectly, life felt good to me but I was still stuck somewhere in those shady corridors and that spinning ballerina of my dreams. Everyday, I peeked inside the halls silently from behind the doors and let the symphony of the melodious music enchant me. A whole year had passed but her balletic swirls were still unaware of my presence as she lost herself to her sways so deeply. A year had gone by but nothing had changed. I was there and so was Faye Pearl.

My wall was adorned by her dancing silhouettes and 7:00am smiles. My dorm mates laughed at me and told me to confess my love for her but I was so much lost into this dreamy haze that I never felt the need to create ripples in my beautiful serenity. I had fallen so much in love with the tranquility of her pirouettes that I feared the chaos.

It was one of these days when I stepped out of my English class and saw her standing by the door with a blonde girl who was telling her about something very important. I lingered around and finally caught some of her excited words.

The biggest ballet competition of the State was due in a month.
