Chapter X

Unfortunately, Stacie was right. Beca had crashed into a car that decided to pull out into the intersection while Beca was flying down the highway. Beca hit the car at full force, which caused Beca to be taken straight into the E.R. The brunette had to have surgery since she got hurt quite badly but thankfully, she pulled through and was currently resting in one of the hospital beds but she was still unconscious. Once Beca got situated in her room, Chloe never left the brunette's side. She felt as if Beca's car accident was all her fault. She thought that if she chose Beca, this wouldn't have happened. Chloe couldn't help but blame herself and the pain was almost unbearable. She wanted Beca to wake up so they could fix things between them but Beca didn't wake up that night or the following day. In fact, Beca was out cold for several days, each day Chloe feeling worse and worse about herself to the point where she hated herself.

Stacie and Aubrey visited Beca every day and they soon found out about what really happened between Beca and Chloe. They were shocked but not really surprised. They could see the chemistry between the two women and they knew it was only a matter of time before they acted on their feelings. Even though Stacie and Aubrey were understanding, Chloe still hated herself for what happened. The more time dragged on, the bigger Chloe's regret became. Chloe spoke to Beca every day, trying to coax the tiny woman awake but nothing Chloe did worked. She didn't know how much time she had left with Beca and she didn't know if Beca could hear her or not but Chloe wasn't a quitter and she certainly wasn't going to give up on Beca, the woman she was still falling hard for.

"Becs... Please, wake up..." Chloe begged, lacing her fingers with Beca's. "I'm so sorry for what happened. You're right, we did have something going on between us. We had so much fun together but I was just too scared and stupid to actually realise that. I've... I've fallen for you, Beca. In the small amount of time that we've known each other, I've fallen for you. You're such an amazing woman and you're everything I want in someone. You're incredible and I realise now that I don't want to live without you. Please... come back to me."

Tears were rolling down Chloe's cheeks but she didn't care. She had been crying every day since Beca got into her accident. If Beca didn't make it, Chloe wasn't sure if she'd ever be able to forgive herself. She needed Beca to wake up so they could fix things between them and so they could be together. Chloe knew how much she meant to Beca and she now knew how much Beca meant to her. Every day Beca meant more and more to the redhead.

"Please, baby..." Chloe whimpered. "Come back to me... Please..." Chloe looked at Beca waiting for something, anything, to happen but nothing did.

Chloe rested her head on Beca's hand and sobbed. Chloe felt her heart break over and over again. She thought that she had ruined her one chance at true happiness. All seemed lost until Chloe felt her hand get squeezed. The redhead shot her head up and watched Beca's fingers clench down on Chloe's hand, squeezing her harder.

"'M'here, Chlo..." Beca murmured.

"Becs?"

"Mm..." The brunette began to stir ever so slowly. "M'sore... What happened?"

"You were in a car accident, baby," Chloe explained. "You broke several ribs but the doctor says you'll be fine."

"Mm..." Beca frowned once her head started to hurt and she opened her eyes to bright hospital lights.

"Oh, Becs..." Chloe kissed Beca's hand. "I'm so happy you're awake."

"You're here..."

"Of course I am. I never left you."

"But... Chicago..."

"Don't worry about him. I left him."

"You left him?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because, Becs... I've fallen for you and I realise now that I don't ever want to be without you. I made a stupid mistake and I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for everything that I've ever done to you but I promise that if you give me another chance, I'll make things right between us and I'll treat you how you're meant to be treated. I promise."

"You... want to be with me?"

"Yes," Chloe nodded. "I want to be with you more than anything. Do... do you still want to be with me?"

Beca looked at Chloe's teary eyes and she used all of her strength to lift her hand and put it to Chloe's cheek, wiping the tears away.

"You hurt me, Chloe," Beca began. "You hurt me really bad. I honestly thought we had something but then you chose him and it was as if everything we had was nothing."

More tears fell from the redhead's eyes.

"When I left, I hoped that everything you loved came crumbling down. I wanted you to feel the pain I felt but... seeing you here now... crying... I never want to see another tear fall from your eyes again."

"Oh, Beca..." Chloe nuzzled her face into Beca's hand, giving it a peck. "I'm so sorry..."

"I know you are, baby, I know you are. Please don't cry."

"I can't help it. This is all my fault. If I hadn't-"

"Chlo," Beca stopped her. "Please don't blame yourself. You hurt me, yes, but what happened to me wasn't your fault, understand?"

Chloe nodded.

"Come here for a sec," Beca dropped her hand and adjusted a little in her bed so she was more comfortable.

Chloe wiped her eyes and scooted closer to the brunette but it wasn't enough.

"Nah, closer,"

Chloe breathed a laugh and moved closer.

"Closer."

Chloe moved again until her face was inches away from Beca's. Beca looked at Chloe's lips then her eyes then back at her lips with Chloe following Beca's gaze the entire time.

"Put 'em on me," Beca said.

Chloe giggled then leaned in and kissed the woman and just like that, all of the pain and heartache disappeared.

"Mm..." Beca hummed pleasantly once they finished their kiss. "That was nice."

"It was," Chloe smiled.

"So, um... there's one thing that's been bothering me ever since that night."

"What's that?"

"Well... you never did get that popcorn."

Chloe burst out into laughter as did Beca.

"I can fix that, don't worry," Chloe told her.

"Good, because I'm a sucker for popcorn on my lap and a redhead by my side."

Chloe blushed as she felt her heart swell with adoration.

"So I'm guessing we're back together then?" Chloe asked, gently fiddling with Beca's fingers but it didn't last long when Beca folded them with Chloe's.

"We were never apart, baby. Now come here and give me another smooch."

With a beaming grin, Chloe launched herself at Beca and gave her a hard kiss full of need, want, desire, and love.
