Chapter VII

So, it turns out that a little shopping wasn't the best thing in the world for Chloe. It started off as shopping, which led to lunch, which then led to dinner, then to late night coffee at Chloe's place where the two women stayed up late talking. Chloe and Beca got on so well that they decided to hang out the following day and when Chloe began her new teaching job, Beca checked in with Chloe and made sure that she was happy with her new job and also made sure that she was doing well with it. Beca even came over Monday night to celebrate Chloe's first day with the promise that they would have a proper celebration during the weekend, which Chloe was looking forward to.

Chloe, Beca, Stacie, and Aubrey went out for a few celebratory drinks and Beca and Chloe were sure to be careful this time around, which they were. They all had a nice night together and the following day, Beca and Chloe hung out and got to know each other some more. The women had a lot of things in common and a lot of things that they didn't have in common as well. Chloe was actually the opposite of Beca since she always saw the good in things whereas Beca only saw the bad but that was one of the many reasons why the women enjoyed each other's company. Even though Beca was stubborn and a bit of a downer, Chloe could see that Beca had a big heart and had great potential and Beca could see that Chloe was the kind of person she needed in her life to stop having such a negative view on things. They complimented each other well and they always ended up having fun together.

They learnt a lot about each other within a small amount of time and Beca was pushed out of her comfort zone more than she would have liked. Lots of people tried to get Beca out of her comfort zone many times in the past but Chloe seemed to have this power, which got Beca to do things that she normally wouldn't do like snuggle up under a blanket and watch romance movies and other trash with the redhead. Beca hated movies but it was different with Chloe. Of course, she went into watching a movie thinking that she was going to hate it and nine times out of ten she did but doing it with Chloe made it bearable. Beca would have gone as far to say it was somewhat enjoyable, especially when Chloe needed a shoulder to cry on whenever she watched some sappy romance movie or whenever something sad happened. Beca hated crying and she especially hated seeing Chloe cry, even if it was just from a movie but Beca was more than willing to put her arm around the redhead and comfort her until her tears were no longer.

It was a cool Friday night and Beca was on the couch with Chloe watching a terrible soap opera, which made Chloe cry more than any movie she had ever watched. Even though Beca complained a lot throughout the movie, she still provided Chloe with cuddles and comfort, something that Chloe pined after quite a lot from the brunette. There was something about Beca's cuddles that made Chloe feel safe and at home and if she was being honest with herself, movie nights with Beca were her favourite and were the highlight of her week. She loved snuggling into Beca's side and nestling in her embrace. She would often press her nose into Beca's shoulder or chest, depending on where her head was, and relished in Beca's perfume, which was rather androgynous and made Beca more attractive than she already was.

"Are you alright there?" Beca chuckled when she caught Chloe smelling her shirt.

"Sorry, you just smell nice."

Beca laughed again. This wasn't the first time she had noticed Chloe smelling her but it was the first time she called the redhead out on it.

"Thanks, you smell nice, too."

"Thanks," Chloe blushed, flattered by Beca's compliment but also embarrassed that she had been caught.

"What is that? Strawberry or something?"

"Berry and vanilla hydrating shampoo and conditioner," Chloe explained.

"It smells really good."

"Thanks."

"You take good care of your hair." Beca gently teased the ends of Chloe's red locks, sending chills down Chloe's spine - good chills.

"So do you," Chloe leaned back and toyed with the ends of Beca's hair, only to catch Beca staring at her and it wasn't any regular stare, it was more of a gaze.

The women were silent for several moments as their gaze flicked back and forth from each other's eyes and lips. Chloe swallowed hard, wanting nothing more than for Beca to close the gap between them.

"You're too pretty to cry... You know that?" Beca said softly, raising her hand and wiping away a tear from Chloe's cheek.

Chloe shivered at Beca's touch and closed her eyes before looking back up at Beca and staring at her lips. Beca watched Chloe carefully and began to lean in but that's when Chloe snapped out of her daze and moved away from the brunette.

"I'm hungry. Are you hungry?" Chloe pulled the blanket off of them and sat up, pausing the movie.

"I could go for some more popcorn."

"Good choice." Chloe got up from the couch and made her way into the kitchen.

She grabbed a bag of popcorn and put it in the microwave for several minutes. For some reason, Chloe was really hot and she decided that she needed a drink and no, she wasn't thinking about a cold glass of water, she needed something stronger so she grabbed a bottle of wine and poured herself a small glass.

"What are you doing, Chloe?" The woman uttered to herself.

Ever since she had been spending time with Beca, Chloe found herself growing more and more fond of the woman and perhaps, developing feelings for Beca - romantic feelings. Chloe knew it was wrong, she did, but she couldn't stop thinking about that night at the bar. Chloe hadn't stopped thinking about it ever since it happened and the thing was, Beca hadn't either. Chloe wished she didn't have these feelings since she was engaged but she couldn't help it. Beca was an amazing person who was kind, caring, compassionate, thoughtful, and... loving. Even though she hadn't known Beca long, Chloe found that Beca did a lot of things for her that Chicago didn't.

Beca was there for Chloe when the woman started her first day of school, while Chicago didn't even bother to call Chloe to check in. Beca was willing to do things with Chloe like shopping and watch sappy movies where Chicago never did those things. Beca was there for Chloe when the redhead had to give a student detention, which Chloe wasn't proud of but Beca supported her and comforted her, telling Chloe that she did the right thing. Beca was there for Chloe and Beca did things for Chloe that Chicago did not. Beca was different and after some serious thinking, Beca was everything Chloe wanted in someone and Chloe had no idea what to do about it.

"Hey, Chloe, I just-"

"Shit!" Chloe jumped when Beca walked into the kitchen, making the redhead pour her wine all over her sweater.

"Oh, shit! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you."

"No, it's fine. I was in my own little world..." Chloe put her glass down as Beca rushed over to the sink, grabbed a cloth, and began to soak up the wine on Chloe's sweater the best she could.

"You had to drink red, huh?"

"I know right?" Chloe chuckled.

"No, this isn't working. Quickly take off your sweater. It needs to have stain remover on it then be put in the wash."

Chloe's face went as red as her hair.

"Ah... Okay..." Chloe slipped her arms out of her sleeves and removed her sweater, revealing a navy blue lace bra, which took Beca by surprise.

Chloe held her sweater in her hands as she watched Beca's eyes fall onto her breasts, which were sitting comfortably in her bra. Beca swallowed the drool in her mouth before looking up at Chloe. The redhead watched Beca carefully and she had no idea what came over her when she lunged herself at Beca. Beca caught the woman as they crashed their lips together. Their kiss was intense and full of passion and desire and it made Beca pick Chloe up and put her on the kitchen bench. Chloe wrapped her legs around Beca's waist and frantically started unbuttoning the brunette's flannel. Once that was off, Beca tightened her grip around Chloe's body and carried her down the hall and into Chloe's bedroom.
