Chapter 3

You cleared your throat. "In my universe you're all fake."

That got his attention. "Fake?"

"You're all just characters in movies."

Loki started walking closer to you, and you had to force yourself to stay where you were, "So do we all have movies?"

"W-well some of you. You don't technically have any, but you r-really just take the spotlight of Thor's movies." You stuttered, now just blabbing.

Loki stopped, and you let out a breath, "So you know all about us. About me?"

You tried to figure out a good way to explain it. "Well sort of. I know all about your background and everything, just like most of the people here, and although I feel I know what's happening, I can't claim to understand any of your thought processes for what happened at any moment in time."

Loki let out a deep breath, "So you know...what I am?"

"A blue icicle?" You tried to lighten the mood with a joke, but when Loki didn't even twitch, you sighed and said. "Yes, I know you're a Frost Giant. And I know all about New York, and the reason it happened."

Loki seemed dumbstruck for a moment. "And you're still here talking to me? Even knowing all that."

"Yep." You gave him a soft smile.

"You're not afraid of me?"

You shrugged, answering honestly. "No more than everyone else."

Loki just gave you a confused look, so you chuckled and continued. "I know all about you, and while that may be creepy, it helps me understand you—everyone else too. I know you made not-so-good decisions, but I also know you're not a bad person."

Loki's demeanor seemed to change completely, and he gave you a stiff nod. "Well, thank you."

You gave him a smile, and picked back up your book. When you looked up Loki was already seated back down in his spot, with his book.

You figured he wouldn't like for you to sit on the same couch with him, so you sat on the one across from him, starting your own book.

"Lady Y/n!" You jumped as your voice was called.

You calmed down and put your book down when you realized it was only Thor. "Yes, Thor?"

Thor ran into the room, holding his hammer—did it ever leave his side?—and called out to you. "The man of iron would to spe-" Thor paused as his gaze left you, and went to his brother, "Oh. I see you have met my brother."

You chuckled. "To be fair, I already kind of have, but yes I did."

Thor's eyes narrowed. "Was he rude to you?"

"Th-" Loki tried to defend himself, but you interrupted him.

"He was perfectly nice," you snapped. "Now, what did you come in here to tell me?"

Both gods looked shocked that you defended Loki, and you were saddened that it must be a rare occurrence.

After another reminder to Thor, he started again. "Stark would like to speak with you regarding the subject of your way home."

You nodded and stood up. "Alright. Where is he?"

Thor just shrugged. "Ask the voice in the wall."

You raised an eyebrow. "Jarvis?"

"Yes him."

You laughed. "Alright then." You gave a 'goodbye' smile to Loki, who didn't respond, and left the room to find Tony.

When you left the room, Thor turned to his brother and clenched his fists together. "Did you do something to her?"

Loki looked up to glare at him, and spat. "Thanks for the vote of confidence."

Thor sighed, now feeling bad. "Brother look-"

"No, you've made your point very clear," Loki snarled. "You may go now."

Thor tried to protest, but after another glare from Loki, he sighed, defeated, and left Loki to himself.

By now, Tony had finished with you, and you entered into the library, giving a confused glance at Thor who sulked out of the room, sitting back down on the couch you were on.

"What was that about?" You asked Loki, who lifted his head back up to look at you.

"What did Stark want?" He deflected the question, asking you one of his own.

You narrowed your eyes at him. "If I answer yours, will you answer mine?" Loki nodded, and you sighed. You were going to lie, and save you both from the embarrassment, but he would know anyway, so you told him the truth. "Jarvis told Tony I was in here with you, and wanted to make sure I was okay, or not under your magic or anything."

"That was blunt."

You shrugged. "You'd know I was lying anyway."

Loki grinned. "True statement."

You smiled, glad to get an emotion out of him. "Alright, now you have to answer my question."

"Correct. A deal's a deal," Loki nodded. "Thor wanted to know pretty much the same as Stark. He was concerned I did something to you, since most wouldn't voluntarily be in my company."

You frowned. "I knew it was bad, but not this bad. Why is everyone so concerned that you did something to me?"

Loki smirked. "How do you know I didn't?"

With a shrug, you responded. "I guess I don't, but I would have trusted you either way, so it doesn't make much of a difference," Loki gave a small smile at that, and you then pointed to the bracelet around Loki's wrist. "I also assume that that is meant to bind your powers."

"Clever," Loki nodded. "Although Odin has bound my powers as well, so this is just an added protection."

You nodded, and grinned. "I'm guessing it's until you learn to love the 'mortals' you tried to rule."

Loki sighed. "Also correct."

You laughed, earning a smile from Loki. The two of you talked for a little while more, mostly some teasing of the other Avengers, before going back to your respective books and read in silence.
