Izuku's Quirk

Izuku Aizawa, known publicly as Izuku Midoriya, is the son of the Pro Hero Eraserhead, Shota Aizawa and his caring mother, Inko. The three of them live together in a house on the campus of UA High, due to Shota being a teacher there.

Growing up, Izuku idolized heroes, and wanted to help people just like he did, but one day, when he was four, he woke up feeling different. It was as if he could feel his parents in the kitchen even in his bedroom. Even without seeing them he could tell how they moved around the house.

As he entered the kitchen for breakfast he told his father about his new sense. Shota decided to check to see if it was really a quirk, and stared his son down, erasing it. The feeling Izuku had before was gone. When Shota blinked, Izuku once again felt the presence of his parents.

"So, did that do anything?" Shota questioned.

"Yeah, but then it came back as soon as you blinked."

"Interesting, after school, I'll take you to Recovery Girl to see what your quirk is, okay?"

"Oh, my son's finally getting his quirk how exciting," Inko said, "We should celebrate, tonight I'll make your favorite and you can tell me all about it when you get back okay?"

"Okay mom," Izuku smiled before finishing his breakfast and getting ready for KG-1.

"Don't tell anyone that you have a quirk yet Izuku!" Shota shouted to the kid's disappointment. Izuku had quite a few secrets to keep already; his father being Eraserhead, him living on UA campus, and now the fact he had a quirk. On all official records he is recorded as Izuku Aizawa, but to everyone else, at least until he gets into UA, he goes by Izuku Midoriya, it being his mother's maiden name.

Despite how much he wanted to share the news he obeyed his father and said nothing about his quirk. Though it was odd, as he walked he could feel almost everyone around him, except for a few people here and there. The strangest thing was that as he went through the day, he found himself getting more and more tired.

Fighting through the tiredness, he was overjoyed when it was time to go home. He went over to get picked up by his mom.

"Oh my, Izuku are you okay?" Inko asked.

"Yeah," he assured her, "I'm just very tired." He began walking with her towards UA

"Didn't you get enough sleep last night? When did you go to bed?"

"Right after we watched that All Might video," he yawned.

"You know your father's jealous that you watch that video so much."

"Why? I'd watch a video of him instead if it existed," Inko laughed a bit at that, while Shota had been shown by the media a few times they never caught him in the middle of his job, only ever at the end, which the man preferred.

When the two of them made it to their house, Izuku decided to sleep some while they waited for his father to get off work. It was around 3:35pm when the front door opened and Shota was there followed by Hizashi Yamada, aka Present Mic, and Nemuri Kayama, aka Midnight, behind him.

"Where's my favorite nephew?" Hizashi asked.

"He's in his room, he was very tired after school," Inko replied. Shota went to go wake up his son and get him ready to visit Recovery Girl. When he came out with him Nemuri and Hizashi giggled.

"What's so funny?" Izuku questioned. Inko levitated a small mirror to herself and handed it to her son. When he looked in, he saw the tired eyes of his father staring back at him. he took after his mother mostly except for his eyes, at least that's what everyone said, but he never really noticed until now.

"He's a tiny you!" Nemuri busted out laughing before being joined by Hizashi.

"How do you feel?" Shota asked.

"Still a little tired, but it's better, I think..." Izuku responded.

"Maybe Recovery Girl will be able to tell us why you're so tired," Shota supplied.

"What are you two doing here?" Izuku finally asked.

"You didn't think I was going to miss my favorite nephew getting his quirk, did you?" Mic replied to which Midnight nodded. So, they headed towards Recovery Girl's office, when they got there, they found a dog-mouse-bear thing speaking to her.

"Ah, good to see you all, I'm assuming your son's quirk has finally manifested Eraserhead?" it asked.

"Principal Nezu sir, how did you know?" Shota asked.

"Seriously, what kind of principal do you take me for? I've kept track of your son ever since he was born. I knew he should be getting his quirk any day now, then I noticed a look in your eye when I saw you today. Something good had happened. Then when I checked on Mic and Midnight, I noticed they were also in high spirits. So I knew it had to do with Izukun getting his quirk. Then of course since both you and Inko are first time parents you'd go to a doctor to figure out what the quirk is or what it does or how to deal with it, and the only way you could do that without letting slip who was the boy's father was to come to Recovery Girl," replied Principal Nezu as he sipped his tea. "Now that that's out of the way, why did you tell them and not me?" he asked with a hurt expression.

"Oh, sorry sir, I guess I forgot," Shota lied.

"Well, the good news is I'm here anyway."

Recovery Girl motioned for Izuku to sit down on the bed, "You look like your father have you been getting enough sleep?"

"Yeah, but today I'm just very tired," Izuku answered.

"How did you know you had a quirk?"

"When I woke up, I could 'feel' my parents in the house. Like seeing without seeing them if that makes sense."

"Has this happened with other people?"

"Yes, everywhere I go I feel most of the people around me."

"Not all?"

"No."

"Okay... Now, I'm going to take a little bit of your blood to test, okay?" Izuku nodded. "I'll also need a sample of blood from you Shota," she said receiving a small nod from the man. She took two syringes and took the blood. "Now young man, you can rest a bit while I run some tests on these, okay?"

It took about 30 minutes for Recovery Girl to find out anything. She went over to Izuku and woke him up.

"So, what's his quirk?" Shota asked.

"His quirk seems to be some fusion of yours and Inko's."

"Meaning what exactly?" Mic asked.

"He can manipulate quirks; his blood has a few similarities to Shota's but with slight changes. I believe his 'feeling' of others is him sensing quirks the around him. He might be able to erase quirks as well as enhance them or even control someone's quirk."

"Why is it making him so tired?" Midnight asked.

"Isn't it obvious?" Nezu interupted, "His ability to sense quirks around him while useful is still part of his quirk, he's been using it all day, how long could you stay awake using your quirk nonstop."

"Is it always going to be this draining?" Shota asked worried.

"Of course not," Recovery Girl answered, "His body is just not used to the amount of energy he's consuming."

"May I test it out, before I go home?" Izuku asked hopefully.

"Sure, but we'll have to test it outside, don't want to destroy Recovery Girl's office now," Shota replied.

"Do you want to come with Granny?" Izuku asked.

"Oh, that's nice of you to offer, but I have plans already. Don't stress yourself too much now, okay?" Izuku nodded.

"Okay then, but Papa you are coming, yes?" Izuku asked.

"Certainly, I want to see what that quirk of yours can do," Nezu said as he got up and sat inside of Shota's scarf.

They went outside and were about halfway back home when Shota stopped, "Hizashi you are going to yell upward, and Izuku you will try to erase his quirk okay?"

"Any advice on how to erase it?" Izuku asked his father.

"Well, for me I stare, but it's based on focus, I focus on the individual to stop their quirk you try to focus with all you've got, okay?" To which Izuku nodded.

Izuku focused on Mic, and Mic began to yell, and it came out, "Testing one, two, three!" It was a normal shout, not his quirk, he had done it.

"Now let's see how long you can keep it going," Shota said, "Keep counting up until your quirk comes through."

He kept focusing, 'Dad's quirk stops when he blinks, so until I do that, I'm okay'. Izuku tried to keep from blinking, after about a minute though, despite his efforts he did.

"90!" Hizashi shouted, again normally, his quirk still erased.

He kept concentrating on Mic, 'If blinking didn't end it let's see what does.'

This continued for ten minutes, Inko was probably finished with the Katsudon and waiting for everyone to arrive, yet here they were still counting.

"Okay, that's enough for now," Shota said, "Let's go eat before your mom gets upset with me." As they walked he remarked, " I can't believe you didn't blink for ten whole minutes."

"I did, several times actually," Izuku responded to their surprise.

"You can erase without having to keep your eyes open?" Shota asked.

"Yeah, I think it's more about my mental focus, I focused on Uncle Hizashi and nothing else, and even though I blinked it still worked."

"Okay, but how do you feel? You've been actively using your quirk for ten minutes unlike when your just feeling quirks."

"I actually felt a little better, like I was siphoning his quirk into me to give me energy, but now I feel normal... well tired normal...but you understand dad."

"That's interesting I want you to try something else while those two are distracted," Nezu whispered pointing at the two in front. "I want to see if you can force Mic's quirk to activate mid-conversation."

"Okay, I'll try Papa," Izuku said as he focused on Hizashi, who was in the middle of talking with Nemuri about how their days went.

"They just don't understand the excitement of learning a LANGUAGE!" Mic said as his quirk activated and pushed Midnight away from him a good five meters before quickly panicking and covering his mouth.

"Sorry Aunt Nemuri," Izuku said.

"What happened?" she asked.

"Papa just wanted me to see if I could activate Uncle Hizashi's quirk without him noticing," Izuku answered causing Mic to glare at the creature.

"Consider it payback for not telling me about Izukun getting his quirk," Nezu said with that smile that only he could do.

As the group entered the Aizawa house Inko said, "I hope you're all hungry."

"I'm starving," Nezu responded.

"Oh, Principal Nezu, so you found out after all. Shota! I win the bet!" she proclaimed mockingly.

"You bet I wouldn't have found out about Izukun's quirk?!" Nezu asked Shota.

"I honestly thought I was better at hiding my emotions...and I was a fool for trusting those two with the information."

"What did you lose in the bet?" Nezu asked.

"I cannot expel someone from my class for a full year."

"Well, that'll be relieving for me, do you know how many angry phone calls I get from you expelling most of your class day 1?" He gave a look to Shota trying to make him feel guilty. "So, we're having Katsudon yes? Inko do you some tea ready?"

"I made some Green Tea."

"Excellent."

As they ate Izuku told his mom about his quirk, and what he did with it. "Seems like a great quirk for a hero," she said, "But what are you going to name it?"

At that everyone stopped, they had to register the quirk under a name and description, but what name best defined such a quirk.

"Potentikinesis," Nezu responded, "The ability to manipulate quirks." Everyone paused. It was an okay description, but it didn't really work as a quirk name

"Quirk Control" Present Mic suggested, which everyone nodded in agreement.

"Wow, you can actually come up with a good name once in a while," Shota remarked.

"Oh, you're still not upset about that are you?" he asked with an innocent smile.

"My hero name is stuck as Eraserhead. What do you think?"

"Speaking of, Izuku what do you want your hero name to be?" Nemuri asked.

"I had an idea for a costume a while ago, but I haven't come up with a name yet," Izuku said getting out of his seat and grabbing his notebook from his bedroom.

The adults looked at Izuku's drawing. It was a simple drawing it seemed to be a black track suit and a scarf just like his father.

"Aww," Inko said and Shota blushed, though when Mic pointed it out, he denied it.

After that though the conversations died down as everyone began to enjoy Inko's cooking. After dinner, and after the guests left Izuku asked his dad if he could train him.

"It's still a bit early, isn't it?" Shota asked.

"It's never too early to improve and prepare!" Izuku replied using his dad's own words against him.

"Okay, how about this, we'll start training when you start elementary school."

"Why?"

"Kid look at yourself. Your body still needs to adapt to the natural drain your quirk imposes on it. I think two years is more than enough time to wait for you to acclimate. If you're not careful you could hurt yourself, and do you want to wake up with an angry Recovery Girl in your face?"

"No, I don't want to upset Granny."

"Then we wait, two years. Now get ready for bed."

The next day was eventful, first Inko grabbed some forms she took and filled out her son's quirk registration and planned to drop it off after taking Izuku to KG-1, but what made it eventful was when what happened at recess. Izuku came out to find Katsuki Bakugo, or as he called him Kacchan, picking on some purple haired kid.

"You're nothing but a villain in the making, I should put you in your place before you get any ideas."

"What's going on?" Izuku asked.

"Isn't it obvious Deku, we found this villain spawn and now we're going to make sure he never grows up to become a villain."

Hearing that he stood in front of Katsuki to defend the other. "How do you know he's a villain huh?" Izuku asked.

"He brainwashes people Deku! No one that manipulates people like that could ever become a hero," Katsuki replied. Izuku forgot they were talking about the purple kid behind him when he heard that, instead thinking of his dad. A man who teaches six days a week, and still does patrols at night, and barely gets any recognition for it, wasn't a hero?

"Oh, and yours can only ever be used for good? What if you accidentally caused too big of an explosion and hurt someone innocent? Would that make you a villain?"

"Are you calling me a villain?" Katsuki accused.

"Look at what you're doing Kacchan, you're about to beat up another kid because he has a quirk you don't like, that sounds pretty villainous to me!"

"Oh, so are you going to protect him from us?" Katsuki threatened, "You're just a quirkless Deku." Katsuki approached ready to beat Izuku into submission. As his fists started to crackle with explosions Izuku focused on him and they ceased. "What the? Where are my?" Katsuki questioned, "What did you do?!"

"I cancelled your quirk so you can't use it against him or me," Izuku replied talking about the kid behind him, who started to speak.

"How's it feel to be a useless quirkless freak Bakugo?" the unknown kid asked.

"What did you say to me you..." Katsuki replied, before falling under the kid's quirk.

"Now why don't you go stand in time out?" the kid suggested. Izuku let his quirk stop as he saw Katsuki walk like a zombie away and just stand there in complete silence.

Izuku turned and helped the kid up, "How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, but why did you help me? I'm a monster."

"No, you're not. Your quirk is amazing! How does it work? Do you just have to speak to them in a certain tone? Does it have to be a question? Is it effected by distance? What does it feel like? How long does it last?"

'I don't know which is weirder the fact he isn't afraid I'll use my quirk on him, or how many questions he just asked me about it,' the kid thought to himself. "The name's Hitoshi Shinsho, what's your name?"

"Oh, right how rude of me, I'm Izuku Midoriya. Um, just how long will that brainwashing last?"

"It should last about 15-30 minutes, why?"

"Just wanted to know when..." Izuku answered before he too was under the effects of Hitoshi's quirk. Then Hitoshi gave him a pat on the shoulder and broke the trance.

"That's how it feels... what did you think?" Hitoshi asked worriedly.

"That paralyzing fear of not being able to control your own body," Izuku mumbled, "That'll be a great quirk to apprehend villains without bloodshed, and any who did somehow break free would be too afraid to interact with you anymore and might run away from the battle, which means you could focus more on saving any injured and keeping damage to a minimum also..."

Izuku was interrupted by Hitoshi snapping his fingers in front of him, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, sorry, I start to mumble when I get excited about quirks."

"You think my quirk is exciting?"

"All quirks are exciting," Izuku said before he had to yawn from how tired he was getting now that he wasn't draining Katsuki for power.

"Why are you so tired, I noticed you were like this yesterday, are you not getting any sleep?" Hitoshi asked.

"Look whose talking, you look like you haven't slept in a week."

"Never mind that, is something wrong?"

"It's just my quirk, it allows me to sense the quirks of those around me, among other things. The problem is, it's always active so it's draining."

"You seemed fine a second ago."

"When I cancel out a quirk, I think I take some of the power for myself, I'm able to stay awake and aware more."

"Why not just 'erase' mine, and keep it that way so you can stay awake?"

"Dad says I got to let my body get used to it naturally."

"I thought you didn't have a dad," Hitoshi said acknowledging how Izuku screwed up.

"It's complicated," Izuku answered, which seemed to satisfy Hitoshi. He offered a hand, "Want to be friends and protect each other from bullies?"

"Sure, why not? You can call me Hitoshi."

"Izuku."

After that day Izuku stopped hanging out with Kacchan, in fact choosing to never call him that again. He was Bakugo. He had traded a bully for a friend.
