Brothers in All but Blood

Hitoshi and Izuku became fast friends. After a single month it seemed to everyone else that the two were related considering how similar people saw their quirks and their seemingly constant eyebags. However, one thing nagged at Izuku. The green boy had kept a close eye on his friend for several weeks now. Sometimes he'd have a bruise or a cut on his hand, always saying it was an accident. He wondered if Hitoshi was being abused by his parents for having a "villainous quirk".

"Hitoshi?" Izuku said.

"Yeah?"

"We promised to look after and protect each other, right?"

"Yeah..."

"So, if you were in trouble, you know I would do anything to help you, right?"

"Why are you telling me this all of the sudden?"

"Hitoshi..." Izuku began before making sure no one else was in ear shot, "Are you being abused at home?" Hitoshi didn't speak for the longest time, to Izuku it felt like an eternity. All he did was nod. "Is it both your parents?" Again nodding.

"When I get home, I'm going to tell Papa, I'm going to get you out of that house okay?"

Hitoshi smiled, it was a nice thought, but he doubted it would do anything, but get him in more trouble.

When Inko picked her son up the first thing he said to her was, "I need to speak to Papa." Inko was wondering what for but decided not to press Izuku for details given how urgent his voice sounded. They made it back to UA and went to the Principal's office.

*Knock Knock

"Come in," Principal Nezu responded. The door opened revealing the two greenettes. "Ah, Inko and Izukun, how are you?" he said with that same cheerful voice of his, until he noticed the look on Izuku's face, "What's wrong?"

"Papa, one of my friends is being abused," with those eight words Nezu got a look on his face that few people ever got to see.

"What's their name?"

"Hitoshi Shinso."

"It'll be okay Izukun," the principal assured giving the small child a comforting pat, "I'll get him out of their in no time. For now, you should go get some rest." As soon as the two left his office Nezu sprung into action. After a few minutes of searching through records of birth from nearby hospitals he found him, and his registered quirk. "Interesting," he said before taking a sip of his tea.

Later...

As Shota Aizawa had dismissed his last class for the day. He organized his things and prepared to return home for a quick nap before dinner and his patrol. As he turned towards the exit however, he noticed someone blocking the doorway.

"Principal Nezu sir, is there a problem?" Shota asked.

"You're not doing your regular patrol tonight," Nezu said.

"Why not?"

"Izukun stopped by my office and told me his friend Shinso was being abused. You are going to go to this address at exactly 8:33pm," he said as he handed him a piece of paper, "And catch them in the act. Then when that is done, you will bring him back here, take this as well." Nezu provided him with a pass to give to the young Shinso. "Don't tell Izukun, it'll be a surprise."

When Shota went to dinner, he could tell that his son was still worried about his friend. He wanted to console him but knew better than to go against Nezu's wishes.

After dinner he did as instructed and found the house, it was now 8:12 pm. Shota didn't know why he had to be there at that exact time, but if Nezu said it, it must be correct. So, he stayed hidden from view, watching the house.

Time ticked by, 8:20...8:25...8:30...8:31...8:32, Shot began approaching the house, as he approached the door, he could hear shouting and crying. Checking his watch again to find the time to be correct he knocked on the door, which resulted in the shouts and cries becoming quieter.

The door opened and a woman opened the door, "Hello?"

"Good evening, I'm the hero Eraserhead," Shota said, revealing his license to her, "I was passing through when I heard some strange noises, I was wondering if everything is okay?"

"Yeah, everything's fine must've had the TV on too loud sorry," she said moving to quickly close the door.

Shota held back the door with his foot, "Oh? Well, I'll just check and make sure everything is okay, after all it's my duty to keep citizens safe."

"Of course, come in," she said opening the door wider for him. Shota could see the panic evident on her face.

"Do you live with anyone?"

"Just my husband."

"Where is he?"

"He's upstairs asleep, he's had a very tiring day at work."

Shota looked around the house trying to find any reason to go upstairs. Checking behind every door until, "I thought you said it was just you and your husband."

"It is."

"Then whose highchair is this?" he said pulling it out of closet he had just checked.

"Oh... that's just," she said before Shota saw her move in a way that put his guard up.

"Why did you come into my house again?" she said, thinking her quirk was working.

"Let me guess your quirk changes or removes memories doesn't it?" he said as he wrapped his scarf around her.

"What? How?"

"If you knew who I was you'd know I can erase quirks with a single look," he said before covering her mouth so he could blink, figuring her quirk was activated by voice. When Shota made it upstairs, he found the father standing over his son, who had duct tape over his mouth as he was getting the belt. Thankfully, the father was just a quirkless brute who was easy to take down. He freed the kid, and just as he was about to call the cops, he heard sirens coming down the street. As he approached the front door to find a detective he asked, "Nezu?" The detective nodded before looking towards the young purple haired kid. "I'm taking young Shinso here into custody until his parents are dealt with," Shota told the detective before giving him a statement.

When they arrived at the gates Hitoshi was confused. "Why are we at UA?" he asked.

"I teach here, and I live on campus," Shota replied giving Hitoshi his pass to get through the gate.

When they eventually made it to his house, he noticed the lights were still on. When they entered, he heard the voice of the principal, "Ah, you made it precisely on time."

"Hey Dad, Papa's been keeping me and Mom on the edge of our seats who's the surprise?" Izuku asked, both children still out of each other's sight. Izuku could tell whoever was with his dad had a quirk, but nothing more than that.

'Wait... that voice,' Hitoshi thought to himself before the two boys finally saw each other.

"Hitoshi? You're here!"

Only a few weeks after were the Shinso's sentenced to prison, and the Aizawa's adopted the young Hitoshi into their family. Now they really were brothers, but still couldn't tell anyone. All was well, for two years.

Two years. That's how long the two boys remained as "normal" kids. Upon entering elementary school, they discovered the rules had changed. The rules stated that students were not allowed to use their quirks in school, especially not against others. So, defending themselves with their quirks was no longer an option for them, and worst of all they again had to deal with Bakugo.

Bakugo beat up the two "freaks" during recess. When they told the teacher, she didn't believe them. The good news for them was that Shota started to train them after that, due to the agreement he made with Izuku that he kept reminding him about.

Each day Shota would show them how to fight without needing their quirks, and they would use this to keep away from Bakugo. They would see how close they could get the young brute to them before getting away. It became somewhat of a game; a game which Hitoshi was winning. This was their life for about two weeks.

Then Bakugo realized he could get away with anything due to his impressive quirk. He used his explosions to catch Hitoshi, and then giving the "villain" what he deserved He started by giving him a few explosive punches to the gut. 'If he's going to use his quirk then so will I!' Izuku thought as he erased Bakugo's quirk stopping him from doing more damage. When Bakugo realized what Izuku did he changed targets running towards Izuku who tried his best to keep his distance from the angry living bomb.

Hitoshi managed to get up and saw Bakugo trying to beat up an evasive Izuku, "Hey! You leave my brother alone!"

"Brother?" Bakugo asked in disbelief before falling under Hitoshi's power.

"Walk to the principal's office!" Hitoshi commanded the brainwashed Bakugo.

Hitoshi and Izuku had been practicing using their quirks on one another for about a year now and found out it didn't need to be a question; it could be a statement that elicited some response. However, the two still weren't sure if there was a way to make it so it didn't require a response. The only thing they had figured out about Izuku's quirk was that while he was erasing someone's quirk, he had a bit of a boost in speed and strength, which of course went away as soon as he stopped. However, Izuku swore he was still getting faster and stronger the more he used it if only a little.

The two brothers congratulated their victory against Bakugo before heading back to class... and got suspended. They weren't happy to say the least. They had used their quirks responsibly, whereas Bakugo attacked Hitoshi and gave him several bruises and burns, and somehow didn't get in trouble. Since they were suspended already, they decided to leave and head back to UA.

*Knock Knock

"Come in," came the voice of Nezu, "Ah, Izukun and Hitokun it's nice to see you, but shouldn't you both be in school?" Izuku reached over to his brother and showed Nezu the scorch marks. "Who did this to you?!"

"Bakugo," Hitoshi replied.

"I thought you two handled him."

"We did," Izuku said, "But we weren't allowed to use our quirks."

"But he was?!"

"He only gets away with it because he has an impressive quirk," Hitoshi explained.

"So, I'm guessing you got suspended for fighting back?" Nezu asked.

"No, after Bakugo attacked Hitoshi, I erased his quirk, and then he started chasing me," Izuku replied.

"Then I managed to brainwash him to walk to the principal's office," Histoshi added.

"Did he get suspended as well?" Nezu asked before the two Aizawas shook their heads. "I see... Izukun take Hitokun to Recovery Girl, and starting next Monday, I'm taking over your curriculum."

As both kids left, they were both happy and afraid. They were free from having to defend against Bakugo and any other bullies, but now they would be at the mercy of Nezu. They loved their Papa, but... they were scared.

They walked to Recovery Girl's office, and of course got the same string of questions: Shouldn't you be in school? What's wrong? Who did this? Etcetera... thankfully the burns were easily healed, and they only got a minor scolding from her for allowing Bakugo to even get that close in the first place.

Meanwhile, Nezu was furious. He wanted to get back at the school and especially the kid who had clearly shown signs of being the next Endeavor. Sure, he'd save people, but only to show his superiority. That was something he could not stand. So, he walked out of the school gates, and soon arrived at the school in question Aldera.

"Uh, can I help you?" said some person at the front desk.

"I am Nezu, principal of UA High, and I would like to speak with the principal of this school," Nezu said, shocking the woman.

"Well, I think he's free right now if you want to..." she said but Nezu didn't let her continue as he continued into the office of Principal Shiro Asano.

The gray-haired educator looked down at the other. "So, what brings the esteemed Nezu to our little school?" he asked.

Nezu took a seat in a chair, before asking, "We are both educators, correct?"

"Certainly."

"Our jobs as educators is to help mold the minds of the youth to make it a brighter tomorrow, wouldn't you say?"

"Of course, it's why I chose to focus on their formative years, that's the most important time in any child's life."

"Oh? How interesting. Because you see I ran into two boys, who told me a remarkably interesting tale, Midoriya and Shinso I believe were their names."

"What? Did they lie and say they weren't treated fairly? They used their quirks on another person, they got suspended, that's the rule."

"And did young Bakugo get suspended?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"He was defending himself from them."

"You want to tell me that those two kids I spoke to were attacking him?"

"Of course they were! They brainwashed the kid for crying out loud, removing someone's own autonomy sounds pretty villainous to me."

'That does it!' Nezu thought to himself before standing up, "I just thought I would come as a courtesy to tell you I am suing your school. Get your affairs in order."

While the case against the school itself was open and shut like the school was soon after, the case against Bakugo was not. The judge seemed to side with the explosive kid at first, hearing how his two classmates took away control of his body, but the burn marks which Recovery Girl had documented were damning.

The judge decided that Bakugo would see a therapist and for the next eight years, he would be closely monitored in whatever school he was in, and if during this time he went back to using his quirk to bully he would be sentenced to Juvie. Bakugo couldn't understand why this was happening. He was the best, why would they punish him for putting others in their place? As he and his family were leaving the courthouse, they came across Nezu.

"What do you want rodent?!" Bakugo asked angrily.

"I am Nezu, Principal of UA High," Nezu said causing Bakugo's eyes to widen, "I just thought I would let you know something personally." He took a sip of his Darjeeling before proclaiming, "I would never allow a bully like you into UA. If you truly wish to try and beat the odds by going to a different Hero Program, be my guest. Though even if they let you in, I doubt you would make a good hero."

Masaru and Mitsuki, Bakugo's parents tried to plead with Nezu to at least let Bakugo apply, but Nezu merely shook his head. Bakugo couldn't believe that UA was taking the sides of those two "villains" he watched with hate filled eyes as Hitoshi and Izuku followed Inko out of the courtroom and down the road. The three would not meet again for many years.

The following Monday the two Aizawas began their new lives. "Welcome!" Nezu said to them as they entered Nezu's Office. "Today is going to be a lecture day. These," he said taking out 2 notebooks colored green and purple, "Are going to be your notebooks for class, during lectures you will write notes about the subject I am teaching. Don't slack off, I'm checking your notebook's before you leave. If you run out of space in those notebooks I have more for you. Each day will be dedicated to a single subject. Thursday's will be quiz days, and on Friday's we will review the quizzes. Every three weeks we will have a comprehensive test over the material covered. Ready to get started?" The little Aizawas' heads were spinning with the schedule their Papa had planned for them, but they nodded.

A few hours later Nezu "dismissed" them for lunch, not that they went to the Cafeteria to eat. Shota picked up the lunch from Lunch Rush and brought it to the principal's office and dropped it off. After all, no one in the school other than the teachers knew that Shota had kids, and they felt it better to keep it that way. A few more hours passed and eventually Nezu turned to them and said, "That's it for today, bring me your notebooks." The small principal analyzed the books as the two heard knocking from the door. "Come in Eraserhead," Nezu said.

"Are they free to come home?" he asked.

"Everything seems to be in order, here you go," he said handing the notebooks back, "See you tomorrow."

When they got back home all three of the Aizawa's crashed into their respective beds, waking up when Inko came to tell them about dinner, and afterwards Shota led his boys to training.

Because it was Monday, Shota gave them a scaled down version of his Quirk Apprehension Test to evaluate how they were progressing, only by small amounts but it was still progress.

"Dad, why aren't we training to use our quirks?" Izuku asked.

"Well other than the fact I know you two have been experimenting with your quirks behind my back," Shota said causing his sons to stiffen, "The most important thing to learn is how to fight when you can't use your quirk. Imagine if a villain had my quirk, how would heroes go about fighting them without their powers? A quirk is an extension of your own strength, not the source of it. Remember that... Now throw the ball Izuku!" Shota watched as his son threw the ball and then marked down the distance.

"Dad?" Hitoshi asked.

"Yeah?"

"Are you going to teach us how to use your capture weapon?" he asked, causing Shota to smile.

"You've still got a ways to go, you two will be training like this for at least two or three years before you'll learn that. Next up, grip test."
