Battle Trials

A few days passed; it was finally time. "Okay everyone," Izuku said addressing 1A, "Today is going to prove an exciting change of pace, all your costumes have been delivered and we can officially begin training."

At this several faces in the class went pale. 'What the hell were we doing before?' they wondered to themselves.

"I want you all to change into your costumes and meet me at Ground B," he said before leaving for the grounds. Meeting his brother in the hallway, the two of them walked together to meet their father at the training ground.

"So, did your class give you the same look as mine?" Izuku asked.

"Yep," Hitoshi replied.

"Do you think we're being too hard on them?" Izuku asked. Hitoshi stopped and looked at his brother right in the eyes before they both busted out laughing, "Me neither."

As the two entered Ground B they saw their father waiting for them next to their mom. "Mom, what are you doing here?" Hitoshi asked.

"Well, we live on campus anyway, so I figured I'd come watch your students in person," Inko replied.

The four of them talked until both classes showed up. Izuku looked at the group of students in their hero costu... 'What the hell?' Izuku thought to himself as he narrowed his eyes at some floating gloves "Hagakure, what are you wearing?"

"My hero costume, Izuku sensei," she replied.

"Are you wearing an invisible suit?"

"No," Hagakure replied.

"So, other than the gloves and boots, your naked?" Izuku asked just to clarify. Receiving a thumbs up, he blew up, "That is irresponsible, not to mention against the heroic guidelines of appropriate costume design!"

"It's not like anyone can see anything," she defends.

"Regardless, what if you were going up against a quirk like Todoroki's? The effect his ice could have on you while not wearing ANY clothing would be worst then if you just wore your student uniform."

"So, what am I supposed to do?"

"Power Loader might have something she can use," Inko supplied, "He and his students make some of the most fascinating gadgets."

"That's a great idea," Izuku said.

"I'll take Hagakure to see Power Loader," Hitoshi remarked.

"But you'll miss the..." Izuku started.

"Izuku, you need to be here to teach Monoma, so I am gonna take little Missapear here to the support class."

"Okay, but wait until after the first round is selected, you know how much dad hates explaining things twice," Izuku reminded him. Nodding in agreement, they gave their dad the thumbs up to continue.

"Hello everyone, my name is Shota Aizawa also known as Eraserhead. If you haven't already figured it out, I am the father of both of your teachers, and that lovely lady over there," he says pointing to Inko, "is their mom. Today's training exercise is simple. Everyone has been split evenly into teams of 2. When your teams are selected the first team will be the villains, the second the heroes. The villains will have a payload that they must safeguard. If the time runs out or the heroes are defeated, they win. If the heroes capture the payload or the villains, they win. Any questions?" A flurry of hands shot up. "Questions that don't have to deal with our personal lives?" he asked before half the hands receded.

"How have you split us up evenly?" Iida asked, "There are 37 of us."

"Neito Monoma will not be participating like everyone else," Izuku answered, "He will be using this time to analyze the fights and writing his notes down for review."

Monoma looked a little bummed out that he wouldn't get to participate like the others.

"The teams have been assigned randomly," Shota further explained, "The teams are as follows."

Team A: Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu and Fumikage Tokoyami

Team B: Ibara Shiozaki and Kinoko Komori

Team C: Yosetsu Awase and Shihai Kuroiro

Team D: Mezo Shoji and Juroa Shishida

Team E: Hanta Sero and Mina Ashido

Team F: Rikido Sato and Yuga Aoyama

Team G: Manga Fukidashi and Juzo Honenuki

Team H: Pony Tsunotori and Mashirao Ojiro

Team I: Kosei Tsuburaba and Hiryu Rin

Team J: Reiko Yanagi and Yui Kodai

Team K: Denki Kaminari and Setsuna Tokage

Team L: Togaru Kamakiri and Shoto Todoroki

Team M: Koji Koda and Toru Hagakure

Team N: Tenya Iida and Ochaco Uraraka

Team O: Momo Yaoyorozu and Kyoka Jiro

Team P: Nirengeki Shoda and Tsuyu Asui

Team Q: Eijiro Kirishima and Kojiro Bondo

Team R: Isuka Kendo and Sen Kaibara

"Our first matchup will be," Shota says pulling out two random pieces of paper, "Team P vs Team A. Nirengeki Shoda and Tsuyu Asui as villains versus Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu and Fumikage Tokoyami as heroes. Both teams will have 10 minutes to prepare a strategy as well as to hide the payload."

"Well," Hitoshi said addressing Hagakure, "We better get you something for when you go up. If we hurry, we might get back here before the first round is over."

—————————————————
A few minutes later
—————————————————

"We wasted valuable time," Hagakure complained, having changed, or rather put back on her school uniform.

"I'm not allowing you to streak through the campus, even if you are invisible," Hitoshi remarked as the two walked down the hall to Class 1H. As the two walked closer they could hear tools on the other side, "They must be doing workshop today." Opening the door, they walked over to the supervising teacher.

"Hey Hitoshi" Power Loader said, "What are you doing here, shouldn't you be teaching? And who is that?"

"This is Toru Hagakure, the reason for my visit," Hitoshi replied, "Do you have an invisibility suit or something she can wear?"

"Not one made by me, but I think Hatsume made something like that," he said looking over at the busy pinkette's station. "This way," he said.

Mei Hatsume was busy working on her newest idea when she noticed Power Loader and a few guests approach her workstation. "Need something?" she asked hopefully.

"Do you have that suit you made the other day?" Power asked.

"Sure, but it's still not working as intended," she replied sadly.

"What's wrong with it?" Hitoshi asked.

"Instead of turning the wearer invisible, it becomes invisible," Mei answered with a blush forming on her face.

"That's perfect," Hagakure said bringing Mei's attention to the seemingly floating clothes.

Mei's heart leapt for joy in that instance, she was so excited one of her babies would be used by someone other than her.

"Mei this is Toru Hagakure from the hero course, and Hitoshi Aizawa, one of her teachers," Power finally introduced them.

'Teacher?' Mei wonder to herself, 'He's my age, how is he? Nevermind, they want my baby for a class.' Mei gave them a quick hello before she started to search for her baby.

Ten minutes went by, and she was frustrated. 'Where is it?' she wondered to herself, 'I left it in here didn't I? I don't think I took it home...'

Seeing her worried expression Hitoshi asked, "Is there something wrong?"

"I can't remember where I put it, I know it's got to be here somewhere," she answered in frustration.

"Well, I guess I won't make it back in time to use it," Hagakure resigned.

"I have an idea, but it might not work," Hitoshi said.

"What?" Hagakure asked.

"I could use my quirk to help you find it."

"How would brainwashing her, help her find it?" Power asked.

"My brainwashing power takes away her mind's control over her body, but some part of her mind knows where it is. If I brainwash her, I could force only that part of her mind to direct her to where she left it," Hitoshi explain. "Willing to give it a try?" he asked.

"Sure," Hatsume said before her control was gone.

"Hatsume, go get the stealth suit and bring it here," Hitoshi commanded. She turned and walked over to the side of her station where a lamp was shining over it, she grasped at seemingly nothing and pulled the stealth suit from the lamp shade and deactivated its stealth mode. She brought the still warm black jumpsuit to Hitoshi before he ended his control.

"That was weird," Hatsume said, "But useful, good thing I made that thing fireproof."

"So, how does it work?" Hagakure asked.

"It absorbs light to charge, and when it has power, you press the button on the belt and you disappear, or well, it disappears."

"How long does a full charge last?" Hagakure asked.

"Roughly six to seven hours, but it's been laying on top of that lamp for at least two days, so it should be good."

"Good," Hitoshi said. "Go change," he told the invisible student, leaving Hitoshi with the rest of the support class.

"Since you're using Hatsume's creation, why don't you take her back to your class so she can watch it work," Power Loader suggested before Hitoshi was about to leave, 'Please, I need a break from her explosions.'

"Uh, sure I guess, if you're okay with it I don't mind," Hitoshi responded.

"Okay then, Hatsume you're excused," Power said.

"I get to see someone else use my baby! Well, not see, but it's still great!" Hatsume shouted.

The two went out in the hall and waited for Hagakure to change. "So, are you really a teacher?" Mei asked suddenly.

'Here we go,' Hitoshi mentally prepared himself, "Yes, I just started this year."

"But in order to be a teacher at UA you have to be a Pro Hero."

"I am."

"Who then?"

"I'm Mind Eraser," he said.

"Never heard of you," she said bluntly.

"Well, me and Izuku don't like the media all that much after they painted us as villains when we premiered."

"Why? You can brainwash people. Instead of negotiating with a villain in a hostage situation you could just brainwash them to turn themselves in."

"It's not always as easy as that, plus there are some limitations to my quirk. It doesn't work with a megaphone, or anything that amplifies my voice, and obviously it doesn't work over the phone. So most the time I end up fighting without using it."

"So, you don't have any support items?"

"Well, I have my capture weapon, but other than that, no."

Mei then saw an opportunity, a project, a challenge to be overcome. 'If I make a support item for him, and it makes him an even better Pro Hero that would help ensure my career,' she thought to herself, "Challenge accepted."

"What?" Hitoshi asked confused.

"I'm going to work on making you a support item!"

"What? Why?" Hitoshi asked even more confused.

"No talking your way out of this," Mei said, "I'll have to run a few tests to understand how exactly your quirk works, and then figure out how to amplify its effect. Would you be okay with meeting me back in class 1H after school?"

Just before Hitoshi could voice his reservations Hagakure chimed in, her suit turning visible, "He'd love to."

"Great, well, let's go!" Mei said.

'I guess I don't have a choice now. Also, how long was she standing there?' Hitoshi wondered to himself as he and the girls walked to Ground Beta.

—————————————————
Meanwhile
—————————————————

Tetsutetsu and Tokoyami combed through the building searching for their classmates to no avail. 'How many floors are there in this damn place,' they both thought. Tetsutetsu walked ahead and took out the lights so that in case they did find one of their classmates, Dark Shadow could make quick work of them.

Asui and Shoda however, were waiting patiently on the top floor. They wanted to wait on the roof, but Shota said they had to be indoors for the fighting. Their plan was to weaken Team A. First, they choose the top floor since they knew they would search every floor before and Tetsutetsu would keep his quirk up to defend himself, but even just doing that would wear him out eventually. As for Tokoyami, they picked this room because it had several windows allowing a lot of natural light to combat Dark Shadow.

It was a boring time for everyone as they watched Team A search everywhere on every floor until they got up to the top floor, which by then Hitoshi came back with Hagakure and Hatsume.

The fight didn't last long after that. Tetsutetsu's long stretch of using steel was leading to iron deficiency and was weakening his steel. Tokoyami also didn't fair much better with the natural light weakening Dark Shadow. Asui dealt with Tokoyami while Shoda dealt with Tetsutetsu.

Shoda focused on dodging Tetsutetsu while using double impact on his weakening armor. Asui was not holding back on Tokoyami grabbing him with her tongue and throwing closer to the windows so that he would be easier to tie up.

Thus, the first Battle Trial was over.

"Villains win," Shota proclaimed, "Now before we continue, can anyone tell me why they won?"

"Because they weakened them before the initial fight?" Jurota Shinshida guessed.'

"No, that's how they won. Why they won is because they knew their opponents' weaknesses and planned around it," Shota explained, "If all of you plan to be Pro Heroes someday you need to know that with the job comes some level of popularity and media coverage, which will divulge you quirks and even your weaknesses. Those secrets will be out there in the world for everyone including any potential villains to see."

"Next up," Izuku says pulling out two random pieces of paper, "Team K vs Team R. Denki Kaminari and Setsuna Tokage as villains versus Isuka Kendo and Sen Kaibara as heroes. You have 10 minutes to prepare a strategy as well as to hide the payload."

Tetsutetsu was a little bummed out by the failings of his quirk as he went over to sulk with some spinach juice to help get his iron back up.

Izuku, Hitoshi, and Hatsume went and sat next to Inko. They were going to be here awhile, no need to stand around.

"So, who is this?" Inko asked.

"My name's Mei Hatsume," she said proudly.

"She's from the support course," Hitoshi explained, "Hagakure is using her support item so Power Loader gave her permission to come see it in action."

"Not to mention I'll also be working on a support item for you," Hatsume added.

Izuku was interested by this, "Tell me you've a better idea for it then Uncle Hizashi's."

"First I need him to come with me to run some tests to see why his quirk works when spoken, but not amplified," Hatsume said, "Once, I've got that, I can brainstorm ideas on how to help him."

"Oh? So, when are you going to do that?" Inko asked.

"She invited me to meet her in the workshop after school," Hitoshi said.

Izuku could tell from the sound of his brother's voice that he had somehow gotten roped into it. 'Probably Hagakure's doing,' he thought, "Well I think it is a fantastic idea."

"It's time for Trial 2 to begin everyone," Shota exclaimed, causing everyone's eyes to dart to the screen.

Denki Kaminari and Setsuna Tokage vs Itsuka Kendo and Sen Kaibara

Kaminari and Tokage thought they were prepared to defend the bomb, but when Kaibara began to drill through the floors of the building he quickly found them and caused the floor underneath them to cave in. Kendo had been following him and grabbed both members of Team K to capture them. Tokage quickly disassembled herself and escaped Kendo's grasp before Kaminari shocked Kendo out cold.

Now that they were free from Kendo and she was unconscious they focused of Kaibara. He was rushing to the bomb. Kaminari placed his hand on the ground and tried to focus on Kaibara. He managed to get most of his electricity to hit Kaibara. Though he also managed to hit Tokage.

"Villains win," Shota proclaimed, "Now before we continue, can anyone tell me why they won?"

"Are we going to be doing this for every fight?" Ochaco asked. Shota didn't bother answering and just gave her an exasperated look.

"Kaminari and Tokage played to their strengths. Their quirks making it difficult to entrap them or fight them at close range. Kaibara charged ahead without thinking and fell into their trap. They might've looked like they were surprised, but they were prepared," Momo answered.

"Correct, for the most part," Shota said, "The worst thing a Hero can do is rush in. Sure, you might save the day, but what if you're wrong? What if the villains are more than you can handle? Kaminari and Tokage didn't win because of their plan, they won because of their opponents failed to caution themselves."

"Next up," Hitoshi says pulling out two random pieces of paper, "Team H vs Team J. Pony Tsunotori and Mashirao Ojiro as villains versus Reiko Yanagi and Yui Kodai as heroes. You have 10 minutes."

"The med bots need to first take both Teams K and R to recovery girl," Shota said pointing to the screen showing Team R unconscious, Kendo still suffering the aftereffects of Kaminari's last attack, and Kaminari whose brain had short circuited from the amount of power he used.

As the medbots left with the students, trial three began.

Pony Tsunotori and Mashirao Ojiro vs Reiko Yanagi and Yui Kodai

Kodai and Yanagi spent some time gathering small items by breaking off small parts of the building. Which Yanagi would through with her quirk before Kodai resized them turning their little group into a moving cannon.

Tsuonotori tried all she could with her horns to keep them away, but the giant flying debris was too difficult to dodge. Soon she was imoblized.

Ojiro tried to even the playing field by fighting up close and personal, but soon found that it was folly as Yanagi quit levitating the debris and just levitated him, holding him in place. Heroes won.

Tenya Iida and Ochaco Uraraka vs Togaru Kamakiri and Shoto Todoroki

Todoroki's ice was too useful, freezing the entire building., even though Iida and Uraraka had prepared by using her quirk to remain in the air until after his initial freeze. The slippery ground made it impossible for Iida to fight successfully with his speed, and Uraraka was quickly taken down by Kamakiri. Heroes won.

Hanta Sero and Mina Ashido vs Eijiro Kirishima and Kojiro Bondo

As soon as it started Sero and Bondo trapped each other in tape and glue, but Ashido used her acid to eat away at the glue freeing Sero. Together they danced literal circles around the redhead as they captured him, securing victory. Villains won.

Mezo Shoji and Juroa Shishida vs Kosei Tsuburaba and Hiryu Rin

Shishida and Shoji didn't protect the bomb. Shoji used his tentacles to hunt them down and the two of them took them out together very quick after that. Villains won.

Koji Koda and Toru Hagakure vs Manga Fukidashi and Juzo Honenuki

The time finally came to SEE the stealth suit in action. Team M was at a disadvantage since there weren't alot of animals to be found in or around the building for him to use, and Hagakure could not stop Team G from getting to the bomb without giving away her position.

They gave it their best, but even being invisible doesn't help you from sinking into softened ground. Heroes won.

Yosetsu Awase and Shihai Kuroiro vs Ibara Shiozaki and Kinoko Komori

Awase and Kuroiro also hunted the heroes down. And with Black and Weld, it wasn't long before Komori and Shiozaki were found and captured. Villains won.

Momo Yaoyorozu and Kyoka Jiro vs Rikido Sato and Yuga Aoyama

After Yaoyorozu created some stereos and ear plugs. They waited for Sato and Aoyama to make their move, once they arrived Jiro used her quirk and while they were busy reeling from the sound, Yaoyorozu captured them. Villains won.

Battle Trials Over

"Okay that is it for the Battle Trials," Shota said to the remainder of class. "As I've stated before, and as you have seen with that last battle. A villain with a good plan is exceedingly difficult to counter. A quirk will only help you so much. It is important to exercise the rest of yourself, especially your minds." He scanned the class seeing one with their hand raise, "Yes, Sero?"

"Which is more important? Brains or brawn?"

"If you have to ask the question I assume you lack the former," Shota said quickly, "Both are integral to being a good hero, having one without the other will only get you so far, and here you are expected to go farther. Plus Ultra!"

Most of the class was dismissed shortly after that, leaving Monoma behind.

"So, how are those notes?" Izuku asked.

"I'm not sure how good they are," Monoma responded.

Looking over the notes he was pleased that Monoma had managed to get down details about everyone, even if they were shallow details thought there was one note that caught his attention on page seven. The part dedicated to Kirishima's details.

"Quirk: Can harden skin like stone. Quirk, appearance, and behavior similar to Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. Relation?"

"So, you noticed it too," Izuku said.

"Noticed what?" Monoma asked.

"Kirishima and Tetsutetsu's similarities."

"Are they?"

"Don't know, I think so."

"Do we do anything? Should we say something?"

"There's a huge betting pool amongst the teachers over it, Pap-I mean Nezu's going to reveal what he finds out about them in a week."

"What if they are? Do we tell them?"

"Maybe, I don't know," Izuku replied, "Anyway, good work on the assignment, now some homework. I want you to come up with questions and theories for how their quirks works and new and unique ways to use them. I want that done for at least five of them. You're dismissed."

Monoma nodded his head and took his notebook with him as he left.

"So, how did you think it went?" Hitoshi asked.

"I think it went rather well," Izuku replied.

"Don't you have a date to be getting to?" Inko teased.

"It's not a date mom. She's simply curious about how my quirk works and wants to see if she can do something."

"Well, it isn't like you've got anything better to do," Izuku supplied.

Hitoshi wanted to argue more, but decided, "What the hell." And decided to go with Hatsume back to Class 1H.
