Split paths

Shimura POV

Aizawa Sensei had taken all of us, by bus, to the station. This is where we all are going to separate for our work experience. I actually can't wait, Thirteen had told me yesterday that she already thought about ideas for my quirk.

We all load out of the bus, excited. Sensei informs us "In the cases you currently are holding onto, is your hero costume. You might find changes to it as the Support Department were told to analyse it as well as you and what to improve.".

I look to my own case, they were all grey with green stripes, as Sensei informs "Do not where them out in public until you arrive at your temporary agency".

We all head off after that. I look out for the next train to go to Tanegashima, Kagoshima Prefecture. It's gonna be a long ride, I have to go underwater. Ugh. Luckily these train are super fast.

I look at the screen showing all trains and all the due times. I have to wait one minutes. Oh, well, that's not long at all.

I turn my head to gaze through all the busy people. A lot were my class but there were people running, pushing through and just trying to get on the train while a person pushes everyone in the train, in the train.

Imagine having that job. Pushing people in trains and hoping they don't complain or attack you. You also have to be quick with it as well. Those guys are the real daredevils.

I spot Mirko, who looks up at the screen by her track. It's great we're both finally getting along. She even tries to joke with me and I laugh even if it isn't funny. I feel like this friendship is gonna last for a long time!

I wonder why she picked Crimson Riot's Agency, though. I mean, yeah she loves combat, but it just seems like a bit of a waste of time because she's already great at it. Plus, that guy takes the dangerous side of stuff. Maybe she thinks she needs to improve? It's not factual but it's a good mindset.

Suddenly Dabi turns up next to her, striking up a conversation. He's probably heading the same way to the Toyama Prefecture. It's honestly amazing how he turned down Endeavor's proposal for him to join his work experience program, he probably would've even gotten a job there at the internships.

Then again, Endeavor isn't the best hero in a work environment. I remember him being the only hero that would always ignore All might unless they are in a fight, especially if it's a big one.

They talk and talk and there were so much expressions that I couldn't really describe. Suddenly my train swooshes pat me and I turn to it. It was so fast and loud and just... cool.

The doors open and I head inside with a few others. The pushers didn't need to come here since it was alright.

Keigo POV

I am now above the floors of the centre of Tokyo. Wow, this place is amazing. It's so modern, and so busy, and so cool, and so shiny. It's amazing.

I look around, just above the ground, in search for The Genius Agency. I can't really fly high in these kind of towns, especially if they are a city this big.

I finally stop at a pearly white building, not even smudge of dirt. They must do a layer of paint after each 6 months. In blue Japanese Kanji, was the word 'Genius' and under in English there was 'Office'. However, under the big window was also 'Genius' but in English.

Oh boy, this is where I'll be this week.

...

Dabi POV

I wave Mirko goodbye as I leave the train and wish her a safe trip. She had spilt some... interesting news. I hope she gets through it well. Anyways, I've decided that Hosu City is the place to see if I like working under people.

I think I pretty much picked the chillest people to work with. There's Manual, who is light hearted and supportive. Then there's Ingenium who is more laid back and rather than scolding me, he'll talk to me. Perfect people to work under.

Hosu City is like any other city. Big, blocky, glass, average. There were people on the sidewalk living their own lives like any other day. Plus this place doesn't really have famous landmarks, other than Hosu General Hospital.

I step out the state on and whip out my phone for the address. It's strange how the name of the agency is 'Hosu City Agency' instead of a hero's name like the others.

Suddenly, a sense of looking forward comes to me. I look up to see a figure with smoke gushing behind it racing to me. People clear away, not in a panic though, but in a 'this is normal' way. My feet were glue to the floor. I'm pretty sure who it might be, but if I'm wrong I'll just let it hit me.

However in a few seconds, the person stops. He was wearing a black, full-body suit under some amour around his torso and legs. He takes off his helmet to reveal a man with square face features and dark blue, spiked hair. He was grinning at me happily. So this is Ingenium.

He greets me with a handshake "Great to meet you, future Pro Hero Dabi" and I shake it. He explains "I came here to personally guide you to our agency and give you a walk and talk about us".

After the shake I bow and we start to walk and I look around to entertain myself as he starts speaking "Hosu, despite being a bit average, it is a great city. It has the amazing Hosu General Hospital, for starters, and there's even a place where out of control quirks can be handled. I personally funded that area and the results are great!". Why wasn't I just born in Hosu?

He turns to me and I look back at him as he asks "Do you have any questions? Like in general?".

"Well, what would I actually be doing in the agency?" I ask curiously.

He just sighs "A lot! We'll be training, patrolling and even do some villain fights".

Wait... "Isn't that against the law for me?"

He shrugs "Well, it's best if you do stay out of it, but if you do contribute to a fight, I'm no snitchy nagger!". He is my type of guy. Dad, if I was born in Hosu, my life would've been much, MUCH more easier.

...

Mirko POV

He was tall and cool looking. He had spiky, red hair jutting forwards in one place and backwards in two. He's wearing a metal, three-piece mask over his mouth and nose, and a crimson outfit with a long, red cape, the collar very high and wide and the edges ripped.

You could barely see his eyes but he was glaring me down with his arms crossed, probably inspecting me.

"I hear your hero name is Mirko, correct?" His serious, rough voice say asks.

I pounce back "Yup!". Maybe I need to copy his energy?

He nods "I don't usually take interns, especially first years, due to my reputation of running head first into danger. But I suppose you have the common sense and the strength to back you here?".

I nod like fresh meat in the army. Oh this'll be fun!

He just nods and looks elsewhere "First task to do should be practicing surprise attacks.". Ooh! This'll be soo cool! He explains it "I have a 'friend' who's job will be to shoot you when you least expect it". What the f*ck!?

"Shoot me!?!?" I exclaim confused and horrified. He can't just shoot a 16 year old!! Is that legal!?

"With tennis balls" he sighs. Ohh, I thought about something else...

I scratch my head quickly and look down to apologise "Sorry, you see I thought of something else...".

"Hmm, that's okay" he replies "The game will end once you dodge shots ten times in a row, or you find my friend and catch him". Oh boy, this is starting to sound fun!

Suddenly, I felt an urge for me to move out the way so I did. A tennis ball swooshes past me, through the place where I was. It then hits Crimson's area. Oh, shit...

I turn around but the figure was gone. All that's left is an in pain Riot.

...

Kanji POV

Gunhead wasn't what I thought he would be. I thought he would be strict, stubborn or even just hot-headed. He's actually pretty nice and supportive. I guess I'm wrong for judging him.

He's now teaching me the the art of fighting. It's really confusing, but awesome too! I'm totally gonna learn a whole lot!

He slowly punches the air to get me a good look at the process. He explains "After getting into stance, ensure your thumb is tucking over your middle finger for the perfect fist and to avoid injury and breaking a bone.".

"Ohhh, got it!" I say, copying him.

He then stops "I've heard from your teacher, Eraserhead, that you don't know how to control your strength, and often use it recklessly". Oh, Sensei, why did you call me out to him? This is embarrassing.

I stumble "Umm, I try to be coordinated! I really do!"

He chuckles "Don't worry, I won't take all his words to heart! I just want to make sure that a friendly soul like you understands what needs to be improved". Oh, thank god...

"Yes sir!" I smile happily "I've been trying to practice it but I'm either too strong or too weak!"

"Hmm, common issue for someone with a lot of power. I suppose we could do some-"

Suddenly there was a buzzing in the room. Gunhead points to my bag and I instantly open it and pull out my phone.

It's Haru! He's probably calling in to check on me! Oh, but I really hope he's doing good too. How could I forget to call him!?!

I answer right away and yell "Heya Haru!!! What's going on over there?? Are you good?".

His voice was strangely eager "Kanji! Umm-how are you? Is everything okay?" he then quiets down "Is Gunhead alright?".

I look to Gunhead, who heard it, and tilts his head to the side in a happy, reassuring way. I turn back to the phone and reply "No, he's amazing! How's everything with Kamui Woods?".

His voice slows down on the phone "That's great for you, umm, Kamui Woods is currently in a meeting with Mt Lady. But he promised me to take me to patrol after it. He's also pretty serious about hero stuff...". Oh, I hope he's okay over there.

"Well, hope you're okay!" I say my farewell. Haru is my best friend. We were friends since the start of middle school and helped each other a lot. He's a special friend to me. And I'm pretty sure I am to him too.

"You too" he replies.

I cut the call and turn back to Gunhead who was, even wearing a full mask, was smiling ear to ear.

I ask him "Umm, sir? What are you laughing about?".

"Nothing, is Haru a... girlfriend of yours" he teases full of giggles. Heh?

"What!?" I yell, feeling my cheeks flush. Oh wait, he probably thinks that since Haru is a gender-neutral name. I explain "No, he's a boyfriend".

"Oh! A boyfriend!? I'm sorry for assuming!!" He exclaims apologetically. Oh wait! F*ck! I used the wrong words!

"Oh, no, no, no! I mean a friend that's a boy, a boy best friend!".

He looks at me and teases "I just love young love!".

Oh, dear.

Keigo POV

He is so tall... Like, wtf was he fed as a kid!? A swear controlling clothing doesn't turn you into a flipping giraffe!!

I walks around me in circles while his sidekicks look at us from a side, waiting alongside me for him to chat. He wasn't here when I first arrived so I was told to just change into Hero uniform.

Finally, he stops in front of me "I like the look, and the colours, but your hair isn't giving off the vibe I think you're going for". Damn, Shimura was right, this guy is a fashion maniac.

I nod nervously and he pulls out a comb and starts combing my hair, without permission! Does he do this with everyone!?

"I took a close look on your last battle, what do you think went wrong with it?". Okay, now he's a therapist hairdresser.

I shrug "I mean, I think something went in my eye in the last seconds, I guess I got distracted". It's true too, I think it was a bit of dirt.

"This is why accessories are needed" he replies "Tell those Suport Department people to get you some eyewear". That's actually good advice. Every time I fly, I'm bound to get something in my eye.

He takes the comb away, and I look into a mirror. It looks... better. Much more free and bird like. I always thought it down was my best look, but up is way, way better!! Maybe I should grow it out now?

Dabi POV

We arrive at a modern looking building and entered. After introducing me to his sidekicks, Ingenium walks me to a desk a man with messy brown hair and black eyes was sitting at. His hero costume was of a blue and white, skin-tight, long-sleeved shirt that tucks into his orange gloves. He wears dark pants, white boots, and sports a signature helmet that features a fish-like fin and blue visor. This must be Manual.

He looks up with a smile and greets me with a happy handshake "You must be Dabi, very happy to have you here!".

After he lets go I say "Really happy to be here, Manual".

He sits back on the computer and starts telling Ingenium "The department still has no idea where these creatures came from, and their theory is that they aren't the typical 'wonders of nature'.". Oh sh*t, am I apart of a investigation?

Ingenium looks at me and explains "There has been more sightings of these ghoul-monster-things, especially nearby forests. Nobody knows where they came from or their intentions but they are dangerous. The Wild, Wild Pussycats are keeping an extremely close eye on them".

I nod, so there's creatures roaming around the outskirts of Japan? Hmm, there were a lot of reports of beasts in woods recently. I just thought of them as being the next Bigfoot or Sasquatch claims that would spiral campers into fear.

Manual speaks up, glaring at Ingenium "You DON'T need to worry about that though, we'll handle it. Go put on your super suit.". Ooo, couple quarrel vibes. Love those. I always get the same vibes from Mic and Eraser.

I leave but hear half way "I know he isn't a hero yet but he will be and I can tell he will have to worry about these things by looking at the pace we're going".
