Aurora didn't really sleep; she didn't feel the need to. Vampires really didn't need to sleep, they didn't get tired and if they did it wasn't something blood couldn't fix.

Aurora loved sleeping she always had so sometimes she chose to sleep but not tonight. She was so determined to go through her whole room and throw out the things that just didn't feel like her anymore including clothes as well.

When she was done sorting that out her room was a mess but she knew eventually it would get fixed when she actually got rid of the stuff. Luna sat back and watched her owner move stuff around while her playlist played on her laptop.

Eventually she went from sorting through stuff to going online to shop which she could spend hours doing and that's what most of her night consisted of. From furniture to a new wardrobe by the time the sun came up she was done and began to try and take the stuff she didn't want anymore downstairs.

It was quick to do another of the perks of being a vampire helped with. She sat everything down in the living room guessing she could give some stuff away to the people in the town she figured Elena and the girls could find a way to give away everything.

Aurora figured she needed to stay busy, that's the only way she was actually going to get through the struggling days of adjusting to her emotions being back on. She was going to do anything to keep her busy until she finally felt at peace something she didn't feel at the moment.

After she realized there was no more work to do in her room she looked around trying to figure out what else she could do.

Luna usually followed her around. She didn't get in her way but she definitely needed to be in the same room as her. When Aurora noticed Luna was heading to the kitchen she knew it was time to feed her.

Aurora fed the cat every twelve hours. That's how she kept her healthy and also gave her the best food possible. The cat was definitely spoiled but it was no problem for aurora.

When she reached the kitchen to begin preparing her meal she figured she could also make breakfast.

Breakfast had to be Aurora's favorite food and of course she loved the traditional American breakfast with the pancakes and the bacon and eggs but nothing topped it better than a good traditional Mexican breakfast.

Damon had known from the start that Ada was really in touch with her culture; she was born in Mexico and then migrated to the United States when she got older.

When they had aurora she made sure the girl spoke her tongue. After she passed, Aurora's Spanish drifted but as she got older the way she remembered her mother was by staying in touch with her culture just as Ada did.

Aurora looked through the cabinets and the fridge noticing that she didn't have much but she had enough to put something together. When she cooked she never really balanced how much she actually made and ended up making enough food for an entire family.

After an hour she was almost done but her peace was interrupted when Damon entered the kitchen as he had smelled the food all the way to his room.

"Are you opening up a restaurant?" Damon questioned making the girl look up from the stove.

"No..." Aurora paused then looked to the counter where most of the food was already set up. "It is a lot though...might want to call people to come"

"And the living room? You're planning a yard sale?" He questioned some more confusion on what the girl had been up to.

"No, that's just..." Aurora paused again trying to explain.

"Hey I have no problem I'm just trying to understand" the man used a soothing tone trying to explain how he wasn't upset he was just confused.

"Well the things in the living room are just things that I don't want around anymore. they don't feel like me so I want to get rid of them "Aurora explained now that Damon had given her the confidence to. "Figured that everyone else could come and look through them I don't want to just throw them in the trash when I haven't even used half of them and the rest I could donate them"

Damon tried his best to hold back his smile. He knew if he did that would just discourage the girl when he just wanted to support but couldn't help but be happy how his sweet daughter was back. The kind girl he remembered was finally back.

"Yeah I can call them..." Damon assured.

"And they could also have breakfast. I did get carried away but I forgot how fun it was "Aurora spoke with such enthusiasm that made Damon even more happy.

"I got it in the meantime show me what you got" he walked over to the counter and sat down on one of the stools for the girl to explain the big platters she had set up so far.

"Well my favorite are chilaquiles it's basically a tortilla marinated in salsa with cheese and eggs, then I have molletes which is just bread with beans and cheese and I'm making scrambled eggs right now but with a whole bunch of other stuff I also have coffee and I might have to go to the store and buy some stuff to make pan dulce" Damon listened to Aurora closely knowing she was having a good time.

He didn't find it strange at this moment. He remembered the times when Ada would make him try her traditional foods and how passionate she was about them. It was no different than Aurora at this moment.

"Well pass me a plate I have to be the first to try it!" Damon cheered on and Aurora quickly did as told watching as he began to serve himself as she poured him some coffee.

Aurora waited for his reaction with an enthusiastic face and when she saw Damon's reaction she even got more excited.

"This is good Rory..." Damon said, trying to swallow the food in his mouth. "You know...I'd say it might be better than when your mom would cook"

"Really..." it might not mean anything to some but to aurora it did. She liked that she could have that similarity with her mother.

"Yes Rory this is amazing you should take a plate and eat too" Damon suggested and the girl quickly got finished with what she was doing then went to get herself a plate and began to serve herself some food.

After she got herself situated she went to sit down and begin to eat next to her dad who chose to make small talk.

"Would you like to know what's going on out there or are you still not ready?" Damon questioned wanting to make sure she wasn't completely being left out of the loop.

"I think I can handle it," Aurora replied before taking a bite of her food.

"Well klaus' father was here yesterday he was trying to kill him but ended up dead so there's that but to what I was looking at klaus has no intention of going after you so I figured we could make peace and get him to leave but then your wonderful uncle chose to steal his coffins" Damon summed up the girl.

"That's not good...what will happen now?" Aurora questioned, fearing for Stefan's safety.

"I still don't know that's what I will be on my way to figure out after this" he replied as he finished up his food.

"I would offer to help but I don't think I'm stable enough yet I think I'm handling it better but it still feels odd" Aurora admitted.

Aurora had always been the one to share her feelings to Damon this conversation wasn't strange to them it came out so naturally because they were used to it they would have them every week before aurora turned into a vampire and now she actually thought it helped her to express herself instead of just keeping it in to herself.

"Take the time you need..." he replied but was then interrupted when he heard footsteps comingΒ  near them as he watched the three girls enter the kitchen.

"Are you aware there's a whole garage sale going on in your living room..." Caroline then paused to see the counter filled with food. "And a whole restaurant in your kitchen"

Bonnie nudged the girl knowing the reasoning behind the chaos in the house was aurora. When Caroline realized what was going on she paused to see the girl sitting next to Damon. First thing she noticed was how she had never seen aurora without her glam.

She looked so natural and healthy. She wasn't saying that she didn't look so before but she definitely looked like she was doing way better.

"Rory wanted you guys to look through her stuff and see if you would like to take anything she didn't want anymore and also she made breakfast so please eat and take some if you'd like" Damon got up from his seat allowing the girls to take his spot.

Aurora just smiled at the girls that were handed plates by Damon.

"Okay I have to go do something real quick but can I trust you three to keep her company?" Damon looked at the three girls who nodded happily as they began to serve themselves food.

Aurora eventually got up from her seat to begin to clean up the kitchen.

While Aurora cleaned she listened to the girls gossip. Sure Aurora gossiped but it was never like what they were doing and if she was being honest it was interesting and couldn't help but listen in on it.

"Rory, where did you learn to cook like this?" Bonnie was the first to finally make small talk with the girl that was cleaning.

"Oh...I spent some time in Mexico. Well, I always seem to be there. When I turned into a vampire I began for travel a lot I couldn't stay in one place at all and when i finally reached Mexico I fell in love with it I first visited my mothers home town then eventually I made it to all the states and even after traveling most of the world it's still my favorite place so I picked up some stuff"

They hadn't ever had an interaction with Aurora, not in this way at least and now they understood why Damon spoke of her so highly tbe girl was the best person they could ever come across with.

"Well it was amazing thank you" Elena commented as she got up to put her stuff in the sink.

"Just leave it there, I'll clean it up later" Aurora told them, noticing how they all joined Elena to help.

"Are you sure?" They questioned wanting to be polite.

"Yeah I kinda need it to keep myself busy" Aurora insisted as she took their things and sat them down. "We can go look at the things now" she suggested and the three girls began to head on to the living room as Aurora followed with Luna.

When they reached the living room Caroline was the first to begin looking around as she was the most intrigued.

"Oh my god! Are you kidding! These are like impossible to find. I almost compelled my way into getting some..." Caroline squealed as she showed them a pair of shoes.

"Well I did...I only wore them once but I don't know I just don't feel like that's my vibe anymore" aurora replied as she sat next to Bonnie on the couch. Luna jumped up and sat next to her trying to get comfortable and fall asleep.

"Oh this would definitely look good on you Elena!" Caroline three over a shirt to Elena who just smiled.

"Whatever you want is yours and if there's any left you can tell others I just know I want it gone"

You didn't have to tell Caroline twice she was a shopping maniac just like aurora and went through everything. She kept most but made sure to show everything to Elena and Bonnie that also kept some of the stuff.

After they were done there were only a few things left.

"Well I see there's been some progress..." Damon arrived at the house again noticing how there were only a few things left. "Is this what's left?"

"Yes but Caroline offered to take them to the school she said they might want it" Aurora said as she got up from her seat, causing Luna to wake up. "I'm going to clean up the kitchen and see what else I can do..."

Damon waited for the girl to be gone before he even spoke a word. He wanted to ask how the girl seemed to them but didn't want to do it in front of her. He thought spending some time with them would help her and it seemed like it did.

"So...how does she look to you?" Damon questioned the three of them.

"Are you kidding she's my new favorite person!" Caroline was the first to answer.

"No she's honestly really good and nice, she definitely let us have a good time..." Elena added. "But is she always like this?"

"This is the best way she found to cope. She loves doing things like this. I'm sure I'll be expecting a bunch of packages in the next few days. She just wants to find herself again and it's best if I allow her to do so" Damon explained to the girls, knowing they must've been confused on how Aurora was acting.

"It must be hard after being who she was for such a long time she didn't even get to experience her true self while being a vampire if you think about it this is her first time with her emotions on as a vampire" Bonnie was definitely the one that paid attention the most.

She was the one that figured how hard it must be for Aurora to find herself again and didn't blame her for everything she was doing.

"Yes which is why I was worried not having her emotions on as a vampire is all she knows but I'm not any more she seems to be having a good time like this and I'm happy which is why I will let her do her thing but I also have Stefan to worry about..." Damon mentioned.

"Actually I have something to show you we should go..." Bonnie got up from her seat to head out with Damon. "Elena you should come..."

"Sure...care will you be okay?" Elena asked before she headed out.

"Yeah I got it I already called up a truck I'll be out in a minute" the blonde assured now allowing the trio to leave.

Aurora spent her whole morning basically cleaning up the kitchen and checking for what they had and what they didn't and created a list for what to buy. When she finally went to the living room she noticed all of her stuff was gone which was good and began to make sure everything looked clean as well.

She debated on whether she wanted to leave the house or not to do grocery shopping but quickly found her solution when the mailman stopped by and she compelled him to go get her groceries and then paid him a good amount of money.

She unpacked it all and finally got to her next project which was making pan dulce as she had told her father in the morning.

Pan dulce was aurora favorite out of all the things she tried from her culture nothing beat it. Making it on her own wasn't as easy or wouldn't take the same effort but she tried her best after some hours she had a whole batch of concha's done and moved on to make more.

Elijah had helped himself out to enter the home figuring it would be a good idea to check on Aurora to his surprise she was out her room and then figured she was in the kitchen. He was quiet at first watching how aurora was baking then she turned around to see him.

"Elijah, you scared me!" The girl was taken aback thinking she was alone.

"I wanted to check on you but you weren't in your room. I looked around and found you...what are you doing?" He began to walk over to where Aurora was preparing her next batch to go in the oven.

"Well the whole night I spent it online shopping and then I reorganized my room. This morning I made breakfast like a lot and now I'm baking..." the girl rambled on while Elijah just listened. "I'm sorry I just...trying to keep myself busy?"

"I'm not judging," the man shrugged. "If this is how you chose to cope that's fine it's progress and any progress is better than anything"

"It has been fun...I've been exploring things I didn't even know I enjoyed doing because back then I found it so stupid but now...I like that I don't want to continue on what I had built for myself I want to just find myself again and go from there"

Elijah loved the way emotions poured out of her. He knew most vampires kept in their emotions afraid of breaking down but she wasn't. It showed how much she actually felt. She felt so much she couldn't even contain it.

"I told you I believed in you" Elijah commented, causing her to grow a smile. Before the girl usually hid her smiles but this time she didn't hold back and he couldn't help but be mesmerized by it.

"Let me put these in and I can let you try some of the stuff..." Aurora took the platter and put it in the oven and closed it to allow it to bake then turned.

"These are colorful" Elijah pointed out to the bread in front of him.

"It's pan dulce they're called concha's. I tried it on one of my trips in Mexico and fell in love with them they're usually pink, white, yellow or chocolate flavored but I went crazy with the food coloring..." Aurora chuckled and offered one to him.

He couldn't exactly say no but he was actually intrigued about what the girl had made. He took the bread the girl handed him which was blue. The girl watched waiting for his reaction and as soon as he took a bite he nodded immediately implying it was good.

"Oh...yeah they make a mess..." Aurora chuckled, noticing the blue crumbs around his mouth and she quickly took a towel and got close to him to wipe them off.

She had a hard time doing so she chose to place her hand on his face to keep him still while she stood on her tippy toes. Elijah had been focused on the taste but then realized how close the girl was to him.

She had never gotten that close. She just focused on wiping his mouth until everything was gone and when she was done she smiled and looked up from his mouth noticing his eyes on her.

She wasn't sure if she had ever experienced being looked at the way she was at this moment. Being close up to Elijah caused her to notice his features more but all she could notice was the way his eyes were on her.

She didn't know what he was exactly looking at and she took a moment to try and figure it out, not even close to imagining how Elijah was completely lost in her features; she was wearing little to no makeup and he noticed way more.

The girl was beautiful. He never had a doubt on it since the moment he saw her but now that he wasΒ  able to know the real her only made him more intrigued.

He probably shouldn't feel the pull he felt towards her; it had become a problem where he thought about being around her all the time. He didn't exactly have to visit or check on the girl but he wanted to and he figured after this one moment he spent with her he knew the reason why now.

Aurora was still figuring herself out; she didn't know why her stomach turned as she realized how he was looking at her or why her legs felt weak but she didn't want to figure it out. She knew it couldn't be good so she pushed away and turned her body completely away from him making them both snap out of their trance.

"So did you like it?" Aurora asked, trying to move back to the topic.

"I did, is the blue part supposed to be sweet?" Elijah questioned taking another bite.

"Yes...i usually just eat the top but that usually gets kids in trouble" Aurora chuckled. "I was supposed to make hot chocolate but it's hard to find like the good brand here so I ordered it online"

"I'd be happy to try it just give me a call when you make it" Elijah replied with a smile that she mirrored but her attention moved onto the figure that stood in the kitchen entrance.

"Dad..."

"Ah! Just the person I wanted to see!" Damon exclaimed at the sight of Elijah. "I wanted to talk if that's alright"

"I'm guessing it has to do with my brother?" Elijah turned over to him.

"Yes...could we..." Damon gestured to leave the room.

"Might want to go take care of that, I'll see you another time" Aurora said to Elijah.

"Yes and again thank you for the pastry, it was amazing. Goodbye aurora" Elijah dismissed himself and went to walk out the kitchen while aurora smiled.

Damon didn't say a thing he already knew enough with the look on his daughter's face. It worried him it did and as much as he wanted to step in and stop it from ever happening he knew it was wrong.

It was going to be hard. He had just gotten Aurora back and he wanted to keep her safe and love was supposed to be safe but not for her and he hated it but it was also cruel of him to stop it.

He hated it had to be that way.

A/n- taking advantage of this writing spree I seem to be on...

The culture is a very huge part of this book. I was surprised I had never incorporated my culture into one of my books and found this one the perfect opportunity to do so yeah...

They are so cute! But again making it the slowest burn ever.
