Tyler figured that he had to take Aurora back to Elena's and Caroline's dorm since there was no way of him taking her all the way to mystic falls. When they reached the dorm he knocked on the door only for Damon to open it. Someone Tyler wanted to avoid knowing he wouldn't like the state the girl was in.

"Hi dad," Aurora chuckled, waving her hand.

"What type of drug did you give my daughter?!" Damon immediately took Aurora out of Tyler's hold.

"She had fun! Just a little bit of a light weight now" Tyler replied, flinching a bit once he saw Damon's glare on him but for his luck he was saved by Ada who joined them at the door.

"Thank you Tyler for bringing her" she thanked the boy taking Aurora out of Damon's hold to lead her to the bed. Aurora was already sleepy; it wasn't going to take a lot to get her to sleep.

Tyler then left and Damon closed the door to turn over to Ada who was helping Aurora take off her shoes so she could get in bed. Both of them were worried about Aurora but if Tyler was right the girl actually had fun tonight so maybe she could get used to this life.

Maybe she was not going to struggle as much to move on from Elijah. What she needed was people around her he could tell since she was doing everything to not be alone. Aurora never did that. She usually pushed people away but this time she was using the people around her to get through it and Damon was not going to stop her.

"Didn't you want to talk to her?" Ada asked but as she looked at Aurora she knew that would be impossible now that she was sleeping on the bed very peacefully.

"I did but I'll let her sleep" Damon sighed, going to lay down on the other bed. "Elena left with Stefan. Caroline went to spend time with her mother they said we could stay here for the night"

"What are we going to do with her? I mean, what do you usually do when she's like this?" Ada asked, still sitting with Aurora watching how Luna snuggled up next to the girl that was sleeping.

"Nothing. Usually she hates sharing how she feels. She just sits in her room or goes on world tours to ignore her problems, but now that she's human I think she copes differently. You would never see her hanging out with Tyler Lockwood willingly" Damon explained to his wife.

He knew before Aurora was trying to have a thing with Tyler but that was just for fun this time it was different. She was actually making friendships. He noticed it when she was actually allowing Caroline to help her get ready, something she always did alone.

"What do you think happened?" Ada tried to move the girl's hair out of the way not wanting her to be bothered by it. "Do you think he hurt her?"

"I don't know, I mean Elijah did love her. I wonder what could've happened..." Damon sighed looking over to the both of them. "I'll talk to her in the morning or would you want to do it?"

Ada took a moment to think if she wanted to talk to Aurora. She should be able to, this was her daughter. As her mother, her job was to be there for her and be able to talk to her but she just felt like she wasn't worthy enough after watching how Stefan and Damon handled her.

Ever since she got back Ada had been struggling to be a mother to Aurora, something she had always wanted and now that she had it she felt like she was failing at it. Aurora running away was the first thing that made her realize it. Instead of Aurora going to her she chose to run away.

"I don't think she wants to...I mean she will probably talk to you but with me" Ada sighed finally looking over to Damon. "Instead of going to me to talk she chose to run away"

Damon frowned, knowing Ada felt terrible about not being able to help. She thought that everything would be perfect because to Aurora her mother was the thing she adored the most but now that she was here she didn't show that. She instead was running to other people but her.

The man gestured to his wife wanting her to join him in the bed. "Aurora is complicated. At times I'm not even sure I can help her and of course I wasn't the best person for her but when Aurora is at her lowest she comes to me and I put the world on pause for her but that is only when she comes to me. If she doesn't come to you then there's not much you can do I've learned that about her"

Ada nodded, laying her head on his chest thinking how wronged Aurora was. She remembered when she first had her as a child wanting to fix everything in the world for her and she failed instead she was watching her now be destroyed by it.

"When she ran away I realized how quiet she had been before it. I realized I didn't feel loved by her" Ada admitted as Damon took her hand.

"We all feel that way. She was nothing like that, trust me. She was the most loving girl ever, a love I used to think I didn't deserve and then love became something she feared..." he stated causing Ada to frown knowing that Aurora was just like her.

Everyone she knew that was related to her they were once people that loved to love and the curse destroyed them so much to the point that they feared love.

═════ Β°β€’ β™” β€’Β° ═════

Ada had fallen asleep in Damon's arms. She was worried about going to sleep because she wanted to watch after Aurora but the man assured her that he would stay awake all night to make sure she was okay and also Luna did a great job watching her as well.

Damon liked how life was going ever since he got back from the prison world. He liked having Ada back. There were times where that's all he wanted and he finally had it and he could not be happier.

Everyone else started to notice his sudden change. He wasn't as mean anymore and he was starting to be more tolerable. Ada really did change Damon. That's how in love he was with her. He had changed completely; he didn't care about Elena anymore; all he cared about was fixing Ada's curse and auroras.

Damon could also tell how scared Ada was to give in every time she found herself giving in and she stepped back all because of fear. He knew that Aurora did the same thing but didn't fully know what it felt like until he experienced it from Ada. It hurt a lot and if that's what Aurora was experiencing at this moment he felt bad.

Ada was the first to wake up. They doubted Aurora was going to wake up at all today after all she had drank the night before. Damon just allowed Ada to get ready for the day before he did the same. They were both surprised that Aurora was not waking up at all even after Caroline had walked in being loud.

"Is she okay?" Caroline asked, gathering some of her things.

"Your ex got her super drunk," Damon replied, causing Caroline to make a face. She didn't mind Aurora hanging with Tyler at all, at least she didn't think so but at the moment the thought of Tyler just made her upset.

"Well I'll be out of here" she gathered her things walking out of the room leaving them once again surprised how Aurora didn't even flinch.

"Will you be heading out too?" Damon asked Ada who nodded while she brushed her hair.

"I think we're close I mean they are both geniuses and the I'm sure we will have Bonnie back in no time too..." Ada said but didn't sound too happy which caused Damon to furrow his brows at her. "Listen I am happy at all this progress but I feel like it's too good to believe I feel like eventually something will happen and it worries me"

"I know but you got this" he went over to the girl wrapping his arms around her. "Soon we'll be okay"

Ada nodded, trying to believe it herself she then looked over to Aurora who still peacefully slept. Ada knew she was doing it for the girl and after the talk Damon had with her the night before it motivated her even more to figure out a way to break the curse once and for all.

"Will you tell her what we're actually doing?" Ada asked knowing that Damon was planning to talk with Aurora and knew that eventually she would start asking questions.

"When I see how bad she's doing I'll tell her" he assured going over to walk towards Aurora trying to shake her awake a bit.

"Well I have to go before I miss Liv I'll be back in a while" Ada left quickly not even letting Damon get a goodbye.

Another thing he had grown used to since Ada was too scared to show affection yet. Damon just frowned and tried to sit on Aurora's bed trying to move her again. This time the girl whined trying to move him away.

"Come on Rory, you need to hydrate and eat something. Stefan should be here any minute" Damon said as the girl covered herself with her blanket.

"You're too loud!" She shouted from under the covers as Damon sighed then was interrupted by the door opening to reveal Stefan with bags of food and a cup on his other hand.

"How much did she have to drink?" Stefan asked, chuckling at how the girl was covered completely under the blanket.

"She could barely even walk last night, what do you think?!" Damon exclaimed and Stefan just chuckled as he left the room leaving him with his daughter.

Damon got the food out and placed it on the table next to them then took the coffee that Stefan brought as well to place it next to her as well.

"Okay Rory, you need to eat, come on. The curtains are closed. I have made it as dark as possible in here, get up" Damon moved the girl once again and even tugged the covers down so her face revealed now.

The girl just groaned and finally sat up opening her eyes only to feel the worst headache ever. This made her whine as she rubbed her temples and felt how Luna was sitting next to her.

She finally looked over to her dad who was handing her a take out box with pancakes and fruit with a fork. Aurora just gave in and started to eat. She had to admit it was good but she still felt horrible.

"Can we talk?" Damon finally dropped the question causing Aurora to look up again with a questioning look. "What was yesterday all about? Drinking and coming back so soon?"

Aurora knew Damon would be the first to question her. Ada wasn't that comfortable to ask questions yet which is why Aurora came back in the first place she didn't know Damon was back. When she saw he was back it worried her that he was going to be able to see that she wasn't doing well. No matter how much she tried to hide it Damon knew her too well.

Just as Aurora was going to brush it off Damon beat her to it. "And don't lie to me I know something happened something is bothering you just say it it's okay to say it out loud"

Aurora didn't want to tell Damon what happened; she didn't want to talk about it all. Not because she walked to avoid her feelings she just really wished it didn't happen at all. She felt hurt of course but she felt humiliated more. To tell her father what happened made her feel humiliated.

"Nothing happened just me and Elijah are over that's it there's nothing to talk about" Aurora shrugged going back to enjoy her food hoping Damon would let it go but he wasn't.

"That's not good enough. Okay you guys are over but why? And are you okay with it?" Damon continued to question something he hadn't done to her in a while. It felt weird.

"I don't even know..." she muttered at the thought. She didn't even know why Elijah ended things with her in the first place.

"Rory..." Damon frowned; he had never seen the girl that way. Eventually she cracked and tore down after saying what happened but the way she was keeping quiet and trying to forget about it was scaring Damon. "What is so bad you can't tell me?"

"It's not that...it's just..." Aurora paused, feeling a knot build in her throat. She really did not want to talk about it; she just wanted to act like it never happened but Damon was breaking her and it was working because she finally allowed herself to start crying.

Damon took the food from her hands, setting it aside then brought the girl into his hold knowing she needed to be comforted.Β  He allowed the girl to cry for a little he didn't pull away until she was ready to and eventually she did.

"Just say it whatever it is" Damon encouraged the girl who nodded, wiping her tears away.

"I showed up and I guess there's someone else I don't know, I just assumed. I could tell he didn't want me there, he kept telling me I wasn't safe and I got it but I just wanted an explanation and he wouldn't give me one, he just told me to leave. I mean he couldn't even look at me!" Aurora began and Damon knew once she got her started there was no way she would stop now until she got it all out.

"And that's just it. I try to keep thinking about it but it's no use. He made it clear it was over. I can sit here and destroy myself wanting to wait for him but that makes me feel so humiliating to sit here and wait for someone who made it clear he does not want me but I just...I just thought he loved me more than that"

Damon was torn; he had no idea what to tell his daughter and he could tell she didn't know what to even tell herself. He could say he didn't deserve her which was true but that was the worst thing you could say to a person that was going through a break up so he didn't.

"And maybe he still does. Sometimes things happen that cause you to let someone go no matter how much you love them you just have to." Damon knew from experience he had loved many people in his life and no matter how much you loved someone you just had to let them go.

"I know but, I would've done anything. Whatever the reason was, I would've done anything to assure that nothing could ever make me stop loving him. Unless that person he has is in the picture now then...that's just another story" Aurora replied and this time causing Damon to be speechless.

His daughter was a good person, she really was. He could tell she had really made peace that it was over between Elijah but she still thought about why and that was always going to drive her crazy until she found every possible reason why.

She knew that Hayley being the new person he was interested in was a possibility and that was probably the one that hurt the most but at least then she could feel peace. He fell in love with someone new and that was okay no matter how much it hurt but what drove her insane was the other reasons.

There was something different about Elijah. He was obviously dealing with something and it was causing him to drive her away and Aurora hated it because she was willing to do anything to help him get through it. Nothing would ever make her stop loving him and she would help him no matter what but he clearly didn't want that and she hated it.

She hated the thought of the possibility that if she knew the exact reason why he left her she could've fixed it and they could've been together if he gave her the chance but he didn't and she needed to accept that.

What was healthy for her was to move on that whatever was making Elijah struggle was not her fault and he had his own problems and she wished eventually he would figure them out but for now it was time to work on herself and if he ever needed her she wouldn't hesitate to help but for now it was done.

"But it's okay, it sucks, yes but it's fine. I don't want to cry forever about it. I just want to move on. I've waited too long to be okay and I want to be so just please don't make a big deal. I told you what was wrong. Now it's fine and yesterday I was just having fun, it is fine just realized I'm not a vampire anymore and my tolerance is the worst "Aurora chuckled causing her to stop realizing how bad her head hurt.

"Yeah I know..." Damon took the cup containing the coffee and opened it to drop a few drops of his blood. "Now don't tell your mom, but I am grateful to never have to experience a hangover again"

Aurora just scoffed, taking the cup to start drinking it. There was barely any taste of blood but she would rather drink that than experience the bad feeling of a hangover.

"About that, how is it not being a vampire?" Damon asked, causing the girl to pause there were so many things she probably had to discuss to him that she had decided.

"At first I hated it, yes but then it opened so many possibilities that don't necessarily need to happen but it's fun to think about? Like what if you compel me a spot here to start school?" Aurora smiled looking at Damon hoping he would say yes.

"School? Here? What are you thinking of doing?" He asked, he wasn't going to crush her dreams; she actually sounded passionate about doing it.

"Already did law I was thinking Med? I didn't do it before because of the blood and all but now I can do that and then maybe living a normal life is not that bad and eventually the possibility of having children has come up to my head but! That's in the future not now or if it even happens I'm just thinking"

"And that's okay...I will see what I can do about your place here I'll work something's" after hearing Aurora's new ideas Damon remembered about the curse and how it still lingered. "Also I wanted to talk about something...your mom has been working on breaking the curse not just getting Bonnie back"

This killed Aurora's vibe completely. She had forgotten about the course for a second. She forgot that even if she wanted to live her normal life she couldn't. Her and her mother roaming the earth was already dangerous enough. Sure they could hide and stay on the low but eventually if Aurora found a person to love then the curse would take effect once again.

"I want nothing to do with that..." Aurora's decision was quick. She hadn't heard anything about it yet and everything was perfect. She knew she was once obsessed with breaking her curse but not any more that was her mother now she just wanted peace.

"And that's okay. That's all I wanted to know..." Damon took a moment to look at her and smiled. "You've come a long way and I'm proud"

Aurora just smiled at the compliment before they were interrupted by someone knocking. Damon got up to open the door confused on who it could be only to find Tyler there.

"How may I help you Lockwood" Damon sighed, not pleased by the sight of him.

"Just wanted to check on Rory" Tyler didn't bring up what happened the night before to anyone. Aurora seemed pretty hurt and he didn't want to tell anyone if she wasn't ready but he did however want to check up on her.

"She's fine. Goodbye..." Damon was about to close the door but Aurora stopped him.

"He knows. Yesterday I kinda had a breakdown and just spilled my feelings to him. I'm fine Tyler I just told him and now I'm fine. Right?" She looked over to Damon who nodded but still wanting to get rid of the boy. "Actually I might need the schedules of parties here if I'll be staying..."

"Wait, you're going to school here?!" Tyler exclaimed seeing the smile on the girl's face while she nodded.

"Not if this is your plan! Partying is fine but I'm worried about your safety young lady" Damon warned, causing her to roll her eyes.

"Well if you end up here I could help you around if you want" Tyler offered and Damon was trying his best not to tear him apart not liking how friendly he was to Aurora. "Actually there's things to do right now in the student center if you want to come..."

"Yes just let me get ready really quick" Aurora accepted but was stopped by Damon.

"Must you hang out with him?! Instead of literally anyone else?!" Damon complained but Aurora just pouted trying to convince her dad until he finally gave in. "Fine go get ready"

"Okay I'll wait out here" Tyler said but was dismissed after Damon shut the door on his face.

═════ Β°β€’ β™” β€’Β° ═════

Aurora was quick to get ready, not wanting to hold Tyler up too much. Again using Caroline's stuff which the blonde had given the girl permission to use if she ever decided to come over. When she was ready she said goodbye to Damon before getting out of the room to see Tyler waiting.

"Sorry for making you wait and my dad being like that he's just worried" Aurora apologized knowing Damon was being harsh.

"Oh it's okay. Damon might not be my favorite but he is your dad and I get it" Tyler assured getting up from the bench beginning to walk with the girl. "So what made you want to be a student?"

"If I'm being honest not being a vampire ruined my view of my life there was times when I thought I could never have a life if I wasn't a vampire but after yesterday seeing Caroline and Elena even you I just liked it I want to experience that" the girl replied causing Tyler to smile he liked the spirit the girl had.

"I'm sure people around here will be happy. They said you were fun to party with" he mentioned causing her to feel flattered.

Eventually they made it to the student center. There was music playing a bunch of tables where each school club had their own thing going on. Tyler had walked away leaving Aurora to look around until she bumped into someone and apologized immediately.

"Oh no it's okay...wait you're that girl from last night..."

"That girl?" Aurora said amused at how the guy was perceiving her.

"I'm sorry. I'm Daniel and I just didn't catch your name last night..." he extended his hand and the girl just took it shaking it.

"Aurora" the girl replied, watching how the guy did not let her hand go.

"That's a very pretty name... so are you a student here?" He continued trying to make conversation with the girl he was clearly attracted to.

"No but planning to be"

"Oh that's great!" He exclaimed. "I could totally show you around if you need any help..."

"Rory..." Tyler interrupted, causing the guy who was talking to let go of the girl. "Sorry just wanted to show you something over here"

"Oh hey Ty didn't know she was here with you..." Daniel stepped back then looked to Aurora. "It was nice meeting you"

Aurora just smiled and watched as the guy walked away before turning to see Tyler with a questioning look. "What was that?"

"What?" Tyler acted clueless trying to deny whatever the girl was implying.

"What did you want to show me then?" Aurora folded her arms over her chest challenging him.

"Okay maybe I lied but that guy is a creep" Tyler defended and just watched as the girl chuckled. "Okay maybe it's weird the amount of guys that have asked me about you"

"And you have told all of them what? Because he is the first one to talk to me" the girl continued to try and spill out whatever Tyler was hiding.

"I told them that..." he tried to come up with a lie but he failed causing them both to chuckle. "I'm sorry I don't even know why I made all of them not talk to you"

"I think you do and I'm sorry for never clearing that up. When I first got to mystic falls I was interested in you and I led you on then left and you left too and it just never happened..." Aurora knew she had probably gotten the boys hopes up back then.

She couldn't lie he was attractive but to her back then it was all a game.

"If I'm honest I really did like you..." he admitted waiting for her reaction.

"I will be honest because I think you know but I hadΒ  my humanity off it was all a game. I mean I did find you attractive and you still are I just...I don't know I don't want to talk about relationships at all.."

"No, I get it" Tyler had always liked the girl he always thought she was just beautiful but he also knew how much actually having a relationship made her struggle. "I'm okay with being friends you're pretty fun"

"I know" she shrugged, causing him to laugh.

═════ Β°β€’ β™” β€’Β° ═════

When Aurora and Tyler finally decided to leave he had walked her back to the dorm. She liked the friendships she was building with everyone. She felt so refreshed and just finally felt in place with things and she loved it. She definitely could not be happier.

Elijah still roamed her mind; she could not lie. The thought of his sometimes did make her sad but the reassurance she gave herself that she was going to be fine brought her back from that sadness.

She was going to be able to move on and live a good life and that was assured when she opened the door to see a bunch of people in there and an extra bed in the dorm as well. All of her things from home were set up as well along with some of Luna's things.

"What is this?" Aurora paused looking around.

"You're our new roomie!" Caroline exclaimed in excitement. Aurora still looked confused until Damon handed her some papers that contained her class schedule and acceptance letter.

"Congratulations you're a student here" Damon revealed and Aurora just smiled and gave him a hug.

"Wait, Luna can be here?" Aurora pulled away and looked at Elena and Caroline.

"We don't mind it at all," Elena replied.

"Okay you will stay here as you wish. Your mother and I will head back home but we will visit" Damon talked to the girl who just nodded then looked at her mom.

"You're okay with this?"

"He said that's what you wanted, I would never stop you from it. We will continue to see you but if this is the life you want then we will give you it" Ada replied causing Aurora to go hug her as well.

Ada and Damon liked that Aurora was trying to live with the fact she was a human now. If she were to be with Elijah they knew that everything would be taken from her but after Aurora seeing the life Caroline and Elena lived she liked it.

She never fully got to live a teenage girl life. When she was a human before vampirism she married so young and after being a vampire she made life so serious but now she just got to live a normal life.

A/n- hi...sorry I feel bad. I love you guys. I get it might be stressful. I want her Elijah together too but it will happen I promise eventually and everything else will get cleared up too.

After the drama...

And I know this chapter does seem like it's all over between them but it is not!
