Aurora had headed to the mystic grill to meet Tyler as planned. It was no surprise to Damon or Stefan for her to choose him; she usually aimed for the jocks like him.

She would usually do it to play with them and eventually kill them but this time she couldn't do that and she knew she couldn't but it was fun for her to scare Damon and Stefan.

Even if that wasn't the case eventually Aurora would find out that Tyler was a werewolf and that he played a huge part into the world she was about to get herself involved in but right now she didn't think about that she never did.

She did what she wanted and she dealt with the consequences later.

She was currently walking in when she felt a too familiar presence behind her.

"You stopped being the overprotective dad years ago. Why try to act like it now?" She asked not even bothering to turn around.

"I've always cared about Aurora. You know that I just learned to see that you can take care of yourself but now I'm not so sure it's the best way" Damon stood next to her looking at her while she just stood with no emotion scanning the room.

"Here goes the speech again about you not liking the way I cope. It's better this way dad. I've done it for a long time now. I don't care if it's good for me or not" she replied, finally facing him. "Just leave me alone don't try to fix me I don't want to be fixed"

She walked away after that leaving Damon to think about what she said. He knew his daughter was in constant pain; he knew her humanity was something that haunted her too much.

It was so big that she couldn't fight it anymore. She tried to hide and cope with the killing or never having something constant in her life. She made her life easier but at the end Damon was her soft spot, her reminder of who she really was or what she once was.

She didn't want that version of herself back; she knew it would hurt, which is why she fought her humanity everyday.

Damon went to sit at the bar while he watched Aurora approach tyler. He looked at her fake smile she put on to pretend she was happy and it only reminded him of the time she didn't have to fake it.

"You're just popular like that?" Aurora said while she watched a bunch of guys walking away from tyler.

"I guess but don't worry you'll take my place in no time everybody is already talking about you" he informed her while he set up the balls to play pool.

"Great I was already planning on it anyways my ego can't take not being the center of attention" she set her hands on the table leaning in.

"I can tell you have Stefan and Damon behind you like bodyguards. I'm guessing you get into trouble a lot?" Saying this made Aurora turn to look at her dad watching how he didn't remove his eyes from her.

"You could say that...'' she sighed, rolling her eyes, moving her attention back to tyler. "I don't think they're big fans of looking after me anyways I'm just a pain in the ass for anyone I mean my parents sent me here for their own benefit for a reason"

She knew Damon was listening to her. She was trying to imply that Damon knew she was a pain in the ass but he was desperate for help and aurora being there only benefited him and not her.

"Oh so it's just you staying here with them?" Tyler asked and she nodded. "Where are your parents at?"

"Well more like a parent..." Aurora cleared her throat. "My mom isn't..."

"Oh...I'm sorry..." Tyler stopped her not wanting her to finish the sentence knowing that it wasn't a topic that could be discussed.

"It's okay it's not like I knew her or like my dad ever bothered to mention her but anyways...let's not ruin this with sad stories and teach me how to play" Tyler just smiled and handed her a stick to play with.

"Damon everything okay?" The sheriff approached Damon while he gripped onto his cup watching aurora far away.

"Everything is fine, just have a new trouble maker to take care of if Stefan wasn't already enough" Damon smiled, turning his attention to the newly compelled woman.

"Oh yeah Caroline told me about her she said she was your cousin?"

"Yep more like a niece to me since I'm older but I guess my uncle decided charter schools weren't enough for her to be good so he's punishing her with living in a town" he took a drink of his cup and turned to see her laughing with tyler was all up on her helping her hit the ball.

"I just wanted to tell you that one of Mason's friends showed up at the mayor's house today claiming that Mason was missing. I don't want to make assumptions but I'm afraid our vampire problem isn't over yet" she tried to be discreet looking around making sure no one was around.

Damon had no time to worry about vampire problems anymore; he had his own problems to worry about now with the originals and Katherine and his most important one aurora.

"I'll make sure to keep my eye out like always but I'll admit that one will take all my time. '' Damon looked over to Aurora and the sheriff did as well.

"No right...it's ok you attend your family Damon have a good day" she went to walk past him and he nodded.

"You too" Damon waited until she was gone and looked back to his daughter watching how Tyler had his hands on her hips and was right behind her watching as she made the ball go into one of the holes.

"You're such a liar! You're a pro at this!" Tyler exclaimed while she just turned around to face him.

"Maybe I was lying..." she shrugged leaning into the table while he stood in front of her with his hand on her hip. "Needed an excuse to hang out with you though"

"We can keep making excuses. How about you meeting me here every afternoon to practice?" He proposed getting closer and looked down to where his hand was resting, noticing a tattoo showing just where her shirt was cropped. "Hey it's that a tattoo"

Aurora's heart dropped her tattoo played a big role in her life. It had too much meaning to her but she had never explained to anyone why.

"Okay time to go I have stuff to do at home Rory" suddenly both of them were interrupted by Damon who was right next to them pushing Tyler off her.

"You can leave without me. I know how to get home" she glared at her father not liking how he was intervening.

"I can take her home if you want" Tyler offered but Damon just ignored.

"No, her father would kill me if I let some boy take her home. Let's go" he continued, looking straight at aurora.

"I'm sorry Tyler but I have to go. I'll see you at school tomorrow though?" Aurora finally gave in wanting to go home as well now.

"Yeah sure..." Tyler nodded while the girl walked to him and gave him a quick hug and she moved away. "Bye"

Tyler watched as Aurora walked away with Damon outside.

The car ride home was quiet Damon knew better than to talk it would only start an argument but aurora wasn't going to stay silent for long she just always had something to say she just waited for them to enter the house first.

"This is what you called me here for to make me more miserable?!" She immediately said as soon as Damon shut the door making him groan.

"You feel miserable?" He questioned walking past her.

"Here we go again with humanity, just give it up dad! It's been years just please let it go!" She began to shout Damon just walked to the table where he had his alcohol and just grabbed the bottle not bothering to pour it in a cup.

"What kind of father would I be if I let you continue to suffer?" He remained calm; he knew one of them had to be.

"That's the thing I'm not! I am better this way, you need to understand that!"

"Then help me understand! Because I don't! I understood you shutting it off I've done it too but for this long I can't understand it I gave you time to grieve but you just keep hurting yourself over and over again I can't watch you do that anymore" Damon was close to tears he loved aurora way too much and she knew that which is why she hated being around him.

Damon was the last thing she had left the last bit of humanity in her but she tried to make it seem like she hated him like he was a bad parental figure. It helped her from keeping her humanity from coming all the way through.

"I feel free the hurt was never going to go away dad it was going to stick with me I didn't want that I didn't want any of it I didn't want to grieve the correct way because I wasn't going to fully get over it I was always going to be stuck that part of my life was always going to stick by me forever and I didn't want that I wanted to move on just like the rest of you I didn't want to be left behind!" Aurora ranted and Damon could see in her the humanity he always knew was there.

"I would never leave you behind Rory..."

"That's the problem you still see me as the girl that was hurt and I don't want to be seen as that I've tried so hard to erase that version of myself so hard and here you are you're just a constant reminder!" His words were cutting through her and she couldn't let them; she had to start accusing make him the bad guy like she always did.

"I just care about you"

"You don't have to, I'm fine! I'm fine just the way I am. You don't have to watch me. I'm not a little kid anymore. You can't hide the cruel world from me. I was already exposed to it, you can't prevent it when it's already happened!"

"And I'm sorry I couldn't, I'm sorry! You don't think I don't carry what happened to you with me every day?! I failed you Rory I know and I'm sorry" Aurora just scoffed and took a step forward.

"You have no idea what I went through, don't try to show pity I don't need it and don't try to make up for it either. It was not your fault, don't try to act like the victim, it was me! Everything happened to me, not you! I was the one that got hurt while you were out doing god knows what you never bothered to tell me anything!" Aurora just turned around but was stopped when she heard Damon speak again.

"Go ahead keep trying to convince you hate me keep making me as the bad guy to try keeping yourself from feeling something let me just remind you that hate is a feeling aurora that you feel way too much" suddenly aurora sped to him throwing him across the room making him land on a table that shattered along with everything else on it.

"What is going on?!" Stefan stormed into the house looking at the scene while Rose slowly came out from the hall.

Aurora turned to Stefan and immediately went to attack him too and he just allowed her both of them had they would never attack back and Rose found it strange how they did even attempt to stop her they just let her walk away.

"Guessing she gets her anger issues from her father?" Rose went to help Damon up as well as Stefan.

"It was my fault. I got her riled up . I wanted to believe I could stir something up..." Damon sighed trying to pop his bones back into place.

"Well did you?" Stefan turned to his brother.

"I did but she's stubborn, she likes living like this, Stef I'm afraid that if she didn't she wouldn't get through" Damon admitted while Stefan just frowned.

He knew Damon had a hard time with Aurora. That was the only reason Stefan had ever felt bad for him because he knew he hurt along with Aurora.

Rose just stood there watching how both were clueless of what to do with the girl. Maybe it would be better for someone that understood her to talk to her.

The vampire had made it upstairs where Aurora's room was at. She had to build courage to actually knock, Aurora was really mean and Rose just wanted to help her.

Rose har finally knocked and tried to listen for a response but there wasn't any making her just knock again.

"Knock again and I'll cut your hand off and hide it across the world," Aurora said from the other side of the room.

"That's quite evil" rose made the decision to enter seeing how the door was unlocked.

"Oh great you're here to get the laundry?" The girl turned to look at her with a smirk.

"I think I've made it clear I'm not the maid Aurora I'm just here to talk" rose shut the door and began to approach her.

"Girl chat? No thanks ''Aurora rolled her eyes and turned back to her vanity.

"Why not? I know you don't have any friends..."

"I'd like to keep it that way"

"Or we could not be friends and you can just talk...I'm actually very curious about what must've happened, that it's so bad that you haven't turned it back on in decades" rose sat down on the bed.Β

"You're screwing my dad, why not ask him?" Aurora turned to her again seeing the shocked look on her face. "I have ears"

"I don't want to hear it from him" Rose continued to act confident, not wanting Aurora to think she had the upper hand.

"Fine you want to know so bad I lost someone" the girl got up from her chair. "My husband he died and I guess you could say I loved him"

"That's what made you turn it off? I mean I believe it but for this long?" Aurora was lying and Rose knew it or maybe she wasn't and she was just not telling the whole story.

"I did it for a while and i noticed how much I liked it" she shrugged while she began to put some stuff away.

"I think there's more to it, nobody has ever gone this long with their humanity shut off. If they do, they're completely ruthless...''Rose got up from the bed to approach her. "You're not that yeah you play most of the part but..."

"Really didn't need your input..." Aurora commented.

"You're just like your father you try to pretend you don't care but you do I can tell you care that's the main reason that's keeping you from letting everything back in you feel the hurt whatever happened it was too much"

Rose was right that the hurt Aurora went through was too much.

"You don't know me at all you can leave now '' Rose had obviously struck a nerve Aurora was fuming with rage.

"I don't but I've been around long enough to know the pains of life. You get mad easily, that's what you use to control your emotions, you channel your anger" Rose chuckled watching as Aurora's face was completely blank. Rose had read her so well. "But fine I'll leave if you want to talk I'll be around"

Aurora waited for Rose to be gone when she was. She just threw the vase that was in her hand to the wall, making it shatter.

It was a mistake to ever come back. She knew being around her family stirred up emotions.

Rose had made her way back downstairs where Damon was sitting down with a bottle of bourbon on his hand drinking it.

"Your daughter has some serious anger issues" rose spoke out loud making him look up to her.

"Tell me about it, I've had to deal with her for all these years," he groaned, moving to the side, allowing her to sit next to him.

"You worry alot for her don't you?"

"I wanted to let her be, I understood what she was going through but for this long it's not normal..." Damon ranted to her while he gulped the bourbon.

"I know I'm guessing something really bad happened? She told me her husband died but I'm guessing there's more to it" rose brought up to him and he nodded.

"Way more and i think the reason she's kept it off for this long is my fault too I was entertained hearing the stories about her she would have the fbi going crazy trying to find her she had built a name for herself and I entertained that as well there was a point where I even joined her and now I realize it only hurt her more...I just had no idea what to do or how to comfort her"

Rose just listened to the whole thing, only growing curious about what happened to her.

"There is no comfort in this world I could give her to fix what she went through" Damon sighed, taking another long gulp from the bottle.

"Was she the same before she turned it off?" Rose questioned.

"She was a troublemaker but she was everything but the way she is now she was more like her mother just the sweetest person in the world I used to wonder what happened what went wrong what did she do for the world to wrong her"

"That's the way of the world most of us get what we don't deserve..." Rose sighed, getting more comfortable on the couch.

"She deserves better especially after everything that happened she deserves way better" Damon said and that was the last words that came out his mouth before a long pause.

Aurora sat upstairs listening to the conversation. She knew she wasn't also causing herself pain but she was also causing the people around her pain but she had found a way to cope and she didn't want to give it uo.

If she did she was afraid of the consequences she would face.

-I'm hoping I'm back in my writting era I think I am to expect more chapters.

This story isn't a happy one her back story is probably the saddest thing I've came up with.
