Chapter 2

I sigh and check the season in Australia. Summer. Perfect. I've got this new Hawaiian caftan I've been dying to wear. I finally finish packing for the long flight and spend the rest of the day doing homework.

I step out of the taxi and struggle to haul out my big suitcase. I wait at terminal two which is the meetup place.

I think. That's what Jacob said, at least.

Doubting myself, and look around frantically for anyone. There's a sea of strangers hugging their friends and loved ones and little kids running around the pavement, but no one I recognise. I start to panic and sweat. I swear it said 3 o'clock on his text. I fumble around for my phone.

Thankfully Brooke turns up before I can do anything rash.

"Hi!" I wave at her in relief.

She catches sight of me and wheels her luggage over. Brooke's appearance hasn't really changed, except for the fact that her white blonde hair has been cropped short at her shoulders and her blue eyes seem to have lightened over the years. We both squeal and hug each other.

"It's been so long!" Brooke smiles.

We finally let go of each other and catch up. Nothing too interesting though. I mean except for the fact she got engaged to Noen last summer. Yeah, a lot has happened in five years. Sometimes, it feels like my friends are moving on with their lives and I'm stuck where I've been before the camp. Single and boring.

Sarah and Zoe turn up next, they don't even bother hugging us though. They make a weak smile and say 'hi' before going on instagram. Zoe's appearanceΒ  hasn't changed at all, and neither has her personality, apparently. Her blonde beach waves still hang neatly over her shoulder and her make up is flawless. I guess you get something out of studying cosmetics. Sarah looks almost identical to Zoe, with the same makeup and eyes. Though her hair is tied up into a careless bun and her hair is several shades lighter than her friends.

Cash and Maverick arrive too, wearing disguises. Something about not getting recognised by their fans. Both haven't changed too noticeable, but they seem somehow taller.

Trinity comes up to us, all smiles and style. We catch up happily and continue to wait for the rest of the group.

Lil Huddy arrives in style with 13 suitcases. He strolls out of a limo while Noen tags behind him. The chauffeur stumbles out of the front seat and and a whole team of helpers tag behind him, taking the two boys' combined amount of suitcases of 18. I have the sudden feeling of deja vu. Clad full of Gucci, Lil Huddy sniffs at us as a greeting. Brooke goes straight to Noen. I stifle a laugh. Glad to see someone hasn't changed.

Of course, Danielle has to make the most dramatic entrance. She arrives inΒ  a horse carriage and Jacob is the footman. They hold up all the traffic on the way here and we all roll our eyes impatiently as they pull up at the curb...

"I'm here!" She sings and jumps off her carriage in a poofy ball gown.

We all gape at the size of her gown. It is an ugly, lacy thing, with ballooned sleeves and cream trimmed lace and ribbons bearing little pearls everywhere. Her hair is tied up into a fancy updo, powered and sprayed for the big, black mass to stay in place. Her collar is extremely low-cut and stitched with little pink roses. Large, chunky pieces of diamond hangs from her neck and ears. Smiling at us, she titters across the street towards us in her ridiculously high heels. She does realise we are traveling, right?

"Hey guys!" Jacob shouts cheerfully, his loud greeting waking up a woman's baby.

The baby starts crying and the woman glares at him. Paige runs towards us, looking frustrated.

"We're late!" She huffs, flustered, "where's Mychael, Lauren, Sebastian, Payton and Mychael's girlfriend?"

"We're here!" Sebastian and Lauran run up to us, looking cuter than ever in matching jumpsuits.

"Okay, so that just leaves Mychael, his girlfriend and Payton," Paige laughs nervously, checking her watch.

"Hey guys!" Mychael strolls up to us.

"Where's your girlfriend?" Paige asks hopefully, looking around.

"She says she will meet us there," Mychael sighs.

"Hi," Payton walks up casually towards us.

Mychael gives him the stink eye. No one offers him a greeting.

"Hi," I say kindly.

He doesn't say anything back.

"Well," Paige sighs in relief, "now that everyone is here... CRAP! 45 MINUTES UNTIL OUR FLIGHT! WE GOTTA GO!"

We all hurry after her. Of course we all have to help Lil huddy with his 13 suitcases which isn't very fun. Danielle tries to run as fast as she can, but her dress keeps on tripping her up, her badly stitched pearls clattering on the airport floor, drawing way too much attention to us. Trinity feels bad for the janitor and manages to slip him a fifty dollar bill before being yanked forward by Paige.

We all file up at the Qantas check in counter and hand the lady our passport one by one. This takes longer than usual because the boys are laughing at Sebatian's passport photo, which looks nothing like him because spray tans were not permitted. Eventually, everyone apart from Lil Huddy is checked in. Paige taps her foot impatiently as he loads on his many bags. I swear the attendant at the check in desk glares at all the bags Lil Huddy checks in. When he finishes, she clears her throat.

"That will be $500," she says in a practiced sweet voice.

"What?" Lil huddy stares at her in disgust.

"You've brought too many bags," she says evenly.

"No way," Lil Huddy crosses his arms.

"$500," the woman repeats coldly.

"WHATEVER LIL HUDDY! JUST PAY!" Paige's anxiety is back.

"Okay fine!" He chucks a pile of $100 bills over the counter, "keep the change."

We all run into security, Lil Huddy struggling to catch up with his three carry on bags and Danielle's heels click-clacking across the floor.
