DREAMS SHATTERING

Hello, lovely readers,I just wanted to thank you all for getting this far on this short but interesting journey of What Life Took From Me.

This is like my first story on wattpad and I really need some healthy criticisms. So feel free to tell me what y'all like and dislike about the story. You can also tell me what y'all think should have been in the story.

I will like to give a shout-out to yourregularmilliefor voting on all chapters. Now let's dive into the story.

"Please please, this isn't what it looks like. I just came in and..."

Before Kaleb could finish his explanation,he was cut off by the police.

"Listen young man,you have the right to remain silent or refuse to answer questions. Anything you say or do now will be used against you in a court of law."

He turned to look at Laila with assuring eyes but she kept weeping and turned to weep into John's chest.

"Laila, have you seen the true colours of your beloved?" John asked her as he embraced her and patted her back.

Kaleb was taken away and detained.
The news spread like wild fire in his neighborhood. His mom trusted that her son couldn't have done that. But she didn't really have a say in the matter as they were dealing with the law.

There was no money to hire a private lawyer and so they were given a state lawyer. They were unfortunate to have gotten one of the laziest lawyers in the country. He was stout and bald and didn't like his job very much.

When the day of trial came,John,Laila,Kaleb's mom,the producers, the police and some nosey neighbors were present.
It didn't take long as there were enough evidences against Kaleb.
The knife used for killing had his fingerprint on it. John,Laila and the police were eyewitnesses. There was no one around to testify that he was set up. And the fact that John reported to the police on his attempt to kill before he "did" even worsened the case.

The verdict from the Judge was "Kaleb Rockson is guilty of the murder of Abena Ofori and will be put in prison for half an average lifespan which is thirty six years. The court is ajourned."
