eight.

AUDREY woke up, with a feeling that she committed several crimes and her head feeling like it was going to explode.

She drank a glass of water, closed her eyes and tried to lay down for a while. The horrible ringing in her head lowered a little bit, so she took out her phone, only to be surprised to find that an unknown number had texted her. She immediately texted Leanne but she was with Luna, obviously Audrey was not going to take away her best friend from her crush (Audrey was sure of it even though Leanne never said it out loud). So she opened the stranger's chat.

Pansy was elated. She didn’t show it and it certainly was not identifiable, given no one understood her facial expressions, but she really was. Theo had texted her again the other night, asking her out again and apologising for how the last date went. She didn’t respond to him yet, but it had been on her mind all morning.

"Ginny!" She exclaimed when Ginny came bursting through the door.

"He said he’d be there," Ginny almost screamed.

"What? Who? Where?" Pansy quickly followed up.

"Harry. I don't know," Ginny held up her phone for Pansy to read his text.

"Oh my god," Pansy says. "He's coming," She pauses, "for you?"

"Yes. YES. YES!" Ginny screeches, a crazy smile on her face.

"Wow," Pansy exclaims. "Then go, wait for him."

"Yeah but I need the dress," Ginny says, desperately.

"I kept it in your closet," Pansy says, confused.

"No! You brought it here with you and told me to come and take it whenever I wanted because you needed it for a date," Ginny speaks fast, making it hard for Pansy to catch every word.

"OH. Right. It's in the left closet, top shelf. Go, go, go!" Pansy rushes.

Ginny sprints towards the closet, closing the door of the dressing room and opens it after a minute.

"Oh my god, Gin, You look gorgeous. Potter won't be able to keep his hands off of you," Pansy says, amazed by her friend's beauty.

"Ah well," Ginny says, blushing. "I'll need to use your makeup for touch ups," She says and rushes back into her dressing room.

Pansy sighs and looks at her get ready, thinking about how women always get so excited only to have all their expectations doomed because men always find a way to let them down, guessing that's something she can definitely count on. She stops her train of thoughts and tries to reason logically again. Theo was going to be there on time and he was going to look perfect and be perfect. That was a nice thought. She hoped it wouldn’t remain just a thought.

Ginny sat on her bed, pretending to read her text book when she heard footsteps echoing.

"Gin," Harry says, out of the blue which made Ginny jump and mutter a curse word which was definitely loud enough for Harry to hear. Harry chuckled slightly.

"Ha—Harry. Hi," Ginny says, getting up and dusting off her dress.

"Hello," Harry says, his lips turning up more and more when he saw how nervous he could make her.

"What, what did you mean when you said you’d be here? Like for what?" Ginny asks.

"Well actually,— wait why are you wearing a dress? Are you back from a date?" Harry started his question confused but it turned into slight annoyance and Ginny swore she heard a little bit of hurt lacing his tone.

"No— I dress like this all the time. I love it. It makes me feel great. I even sleep it in sometimes," Ginny speaks before her mind could offer assistance.

"Okay," Came his amused reply. "Let's go."

"Where?"

"You’ll see." He says, taking out a blindfold from his pocket and tying it around Ginny's eyes.

"Will I see? Really?" She asked, adjusting her blindfold.

"Yes."

"Okay."

An uncomfortable silence passed between the two of them as Harry held Ginny's hand and guided her towards, well, somewhere, she couldn’t tell.

"Steps," Harry warns.

Even with the warning, Ginny hit the first step and cried out, "Oh lord."

She sensed Harry bend down to look at her foot, to assess the damage when she suddenly felt exposed. Her dress was lacey, in the right angle, he could clearly see everything.

"Um, Harry?" She calls out, but doesn’t hear his reply. She could still feel him near her legs. "Harry?"

"I, um, sorry, I was looking at your foot. Your toe appears red," He says and Ginny could definitely catch that he sounded embarrassed and a little weird.

"Oh, that’s a bummer. Can we go back to the common room then?" Ginny asks.

"No way," Harry responds, sounding normal now. "We're almost there, just a few more steps," Harry reassures her.

Ginny's curiosity mixed with a hint of anxiety as she continued to walk with Harry's guidance. She wondered where he was taking her and what surprise awaited her at the end. The thought of Harry planning something special for her made her heart flutter.

After what felt like an eternity of walking, Harry finally stopped and said, "Okay, we're here."

Ginny could sense a change in the atmosphere. The air felt cooler, and she could hear the faint sound of rushing water. She eagerly waited for Harry to remove the blindfold, her anticipation growing with each passing second.

"Alright, you can take it off now," Harry said gently.

Ginny slowly lifted the blindfold from her eyes and blinked a few times to adjust to the sudden burst of light. When her vision cleared, she gasped in awe at the breathtaking sight before her.

They were standing at the edge of the great lake, bathed in the golden hues of the dawn. The water sparkled, mirroring the vibrant colors of the sky. A small rowboat was waiting by the shore, adorned with fairy lights and pretty flowers.

"Harry, this is...incredible," Ginny whispered, her voice filled with genuine wonder.

"I thought you might like it," Harry replied, a soft smile on his lips. "I know how much you like the tranquility of nature. The lake at this time in the morning is peaceful and gorgeous."

"Tranquility of nature, huh? Someone's been around Hermione for too long." Ginny jokes. She felt her heart swell with affection for Harry. It was clear that he had put thought and effort into planning this surprise. She couldn't help but feel touched by his gesture.

They both climbed into the rowboat, and Harry picked up the oars, gently pushing the boat away from the shore. As they glided across the calm water, Ginny felt a sense of serenity wash over her. The worries and stresses of the day melted away, leaving only the blissful present moment.

"Harry...um, is this a date?" Ginny asks, suddenly feeling nervous all over again.

"Call it what you want, Gin," Harry smiles, his face sunkissed and expectant.
