56 - Such Is the Atmosphere to Profess One's Love

Cheng Huan wasn't too interested in the campfire party plus she was a little bit tired after being out for an entire day and only wanted to home and go to bed. She wanted to decline it when she heard Jiang MingYuan asking but XingXing saw all the people and wanted to go see what was going on. Cheng Huan had no choice but to go with him.

The party wasn't that impressive. There were singing and dancing, then groups of dozen or so people would gather and chitchat. When the time came, guests could choose to stay at a tent or to return to their rooms.

XingXing wanted to sleep in a tent as little kids were always curious about everything novel. Unfortunately, neither one of the adults felt like it so he finally had to return to the mansion with them reluctantly.

"Don't stay up too late. Go to bed early." Jiang MingYuan kissed XingXing on his cheek and, after he received the kiss from his son, stood up and said goodnight to Cheng Huan before he extended his invitation. "Get up to watch the sunrise tomorrow morning?"

Way back on the plain Lao Liu had already mentioned how amazing the sunrise here was and Cheng Huan had been curious about it. But sunrise was early and Cheng Huan had doubts that she could get up in time. "It's so early that I might not wake up to the alarm."

That's fine. I can wake you up.

After the words had rolled on his tongue for a few times, Jiang MingYuan finally picked the best tone to say it. Nevertheless, the one with ulterior motive has not yet had a chance to speak when XingXing raised his hand and said, "Mommy, I can get up in time! I'll wake you up!"

Jiang MingYuan, not being able to say what he had wanted to, felt a discomfort in his chest. He glanced over at his son who had ruined his moment, his chin taut, and didn't say a word. Nodded at Cheng Huan, he said in a cold voice, "Okay then. I will see you two tomorrow morning."

"Goodnight." Cheng Huan waved at him, opened up the room door, and walked inside with her son in tow. XingXing said goodbye as well and waved and blew him kisses. Unfortunately, his father didn't see any of those.

Seeing that the room door had closed, Jiang MingYuan finally walked over to his own bedroom.

Inside the bathroom in the room, clothes came off. Standing under the shower, Jiang MingYuan let the water hit him on his face with his eyes closed.

Steam began to fill the bathroom and things began to blur. Finally, all there was left was the sound of the water.

After ten minutes, the sound of the water stopped. Jiang MingYuan walked out with a bath towel over himself. He was topless and the water from his hair dripped down onto his chest, making him that much more seductive. Unfortunately, no one was there to appreciate the sight. The man undid the towel and tossed it aside before he grabbed another one to dry his hair with. He didn't care whether his hair was completely dried or not and got ready to go to bed.

SNAP! The lights were turned off. Lying in bed to fall asleep, Jiang MingYuan had too much on his mind to fall asleep easily. After a little while, he opened up his eyes again, reached out for his cellphone, located the contact that he wanted, and sent over a text.

It took Cheng Huan a while to bathe XingXing, get him into bed, read him a story, and finally bathed herself.

Sitting on the bed, her hair was tied up loosely on the top of her head as she applied her facial mask and played on her cellphone.

The game would attack the monsters automatically and there was not much she needed to do. Cheng Huan looked at the colorful effect on the screen mindlessly when her cellphone vibrated all of a sudden.

Recollecting herself from being startled, she noticed that it was a message from the man in the bedroom across from hers. The message was simple as well, just – Goodnight.

Haven't they already said that already? Thought Cheng Huan, a little bit baffled. But she closed out of her game and replied the same word to him.

In the bedroom across from her, Jiang MingYuan had a light smile after he received her replied text. His thumb rubbed over the screen and he read the text in his mind before he put down his phone and really went to bed this time.

Sunrise on Red Coral Island was at 5:40 AM. Cheng Huan set her alarm for 4:30 AM. She was sound asleep when her alarm went off and showed no sign of getting up from it.

Not just her. The little kiddo who bragged that he'd be waking her up, too, was sound asleep. Only one of the three in the family was able to wake up before daylight.

Jiang MingYuan was in the habit of working out in the morning and he did not let that fall behind even during his vacation. Donned his convenient workout clothes, he got up, got ready, changed into his workout shoes and walked outside.

It was very quiet in the mansion with no sound to be heard. Jiang MingYuan walked downstairs and, sure enough, there was no signs of the mother and son. He pursed his lips and tried not to laugh out loud. He quickly walked back up to the second floor and knocked on the door on the left side.

Cheng Huan was still dreaming and was just getting to the part of being chased by zombies when she heard the knocking. She hid into a room and the zombies that were chasing her were slamming against the door. Oddly the noise they made wasn't too loud.

Cheng Huan, being asleep, didn't notice anything odd. Her heart was tightened and she was having difficulty breathing from nervousness. As her breathing became more difficult, she felt dizzy. And, just when she was about to collapse, she finally struggled free from her nightmare.

And then, the knocking that she had heard in her dreams started up again.

So the knocking was real. Welp, that was scary!

Cheng Huan let out a sigh and her limbs felt weak. Looking at the time on her cellphone, she sat up in bed and put on her slippers as she responded back to the knocking and tried to straighten out her hair with her hands.

Jiang MingYuan knocked for a long time before he finally heard some response. He put his hand down and let out a sigh. When he was still pondering what to say, the door cracked open in front of him.

The one inside of the room peeked her head out. She had obviously just woken up and her hair was still messy. There was still weariness on her face and her voice was soft. "Sorry. I overslept. I will be down soon."

"No rush. It's still early." Jiang MingYuan took a step back and looked away unnaturally. "I am going to work out."

"Okay, you go." Cheng Huan waved. Recalling the nice body that she had inadvertently seen the last few times, she lamented about the work it took to maintain that.

After she had closed the door, she picked up her clothes and changed inside of the bathroom. She got ready and started applying her makeup and only went to wake XingXing up after she was ready.

The little kiddo was still asleep and kept on rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand. He almost put both feet into one pant leg when he was putting his clothes on.

It was already 5:20 AM by the time the two of them were ready. Cheng Huan quickly went downstairs with XingXing and saw Jiang MingYuan sitting on the couch in the living room. He had taken a shower after his morning workout and put on his suit once again. It was cool in the morning so suit was fine. It was just that he looked more like someone on his way to work than to go watch the sunset.

"Let's go." Jiang MingYuan got up from the couch when he saw the two of them coming downstairs. The chauffeur was already waiting outside and the three of them headed toward the beach.

The best spot on Red Coral Island to watch the sunset was not far from the public beach. It was a natural cave that resembled a giant well. The wall of the cave was almost vertical and there was an outlet toward the ocean at the very bottom.

By the time Cheng Huan and the lot arrived, many others were already there. Most of them were couples, waiting silently by the well.

The moon was on the west and Venus could still be seen. The sky was still dark. The sun was yet to be seen but the cloud started turning pink first. The sky began to turn white and the morning glow became noticeable while the sea breeze hit one on their face. The clouds' reflections could be seen on top of the ocean and the sky and water blended into one. The stunning sensation was very difficult to describe without being there.

Sound from shutters came from all over and Cheng Huan was part of them. She had faithfully recorded the entire process from when the sun first peeked out just a tad till it was entirely out.

Seagulls flew passed them in groups and happened to fly in front of the sun. Cheng Huan got a snapshot of that and finally put down her camera feeling contented. She saw Jiang MingYuan did the same as her when she turned around.

She had no idea where he got the camera from but she had seen it in the car since they had taken off. It looked much fancier than the one that she has and presumably as would the result.

"What did you take?" Cheng Huan walked over and asked. "Can I see?"

Jiang MingYuan's fingers stiffened a little and nodded with his face taut. Finally he scrolled to a scenery photo and showed it to her.

"Oh, that's very good. So nice to have a good equipment." Cheng Huan took over the camera, expressed her feelings and asked, "Anything else?"

Jiang MingYuan's heart sank and he started lifting up his hand. But before he could stop her, Cheng Huan had already scrolled to the next picture.

He pulled back his hand and felt both embarrassed and awkward. His throat was tight and he wasn't able to say a word.

Cheng Huan too was surprised when she saw the picture. It was a scene but majority of the photo was her back. He had a good artistic sense and the artistic conception was very good. When Cheng Huan saw the picture, it reminded her of a poem – You were watching the scenery on a bridge, and someone watching the scenery from afar was looking at you.

She felt slightly awkward. Perhaps it was just a coincidence. Cheng Huan scrolled some more.

She was in all of the photos.

Now she felt less calm.

She felt a stir inside of her but she tried to hold it back as much as she could. Her hand was unstable and she almost dropped the camera. Luckily, she was able to hold onto the strap the very last minute.

The sky was completely bright now but the temperature didn't go up by much. The sea breeze had never stopped but she started feeling hotter and hotter.

Her palms began to sweat and she didn't know how to how to handle this. Struggling inside of herself, she wasn't sure how to ask.

What was she going to say? Did you take pictures of me because you like me? What if that wasn't the case? Perhaps he just took the pictures for the fun of it. That'd be very embarrassing if that was the case.

Deep down inside of her, Cheng Huan never thought that Jiang MingYuan would develop feelings for her. Even though this was the world inside of a book, but she wasn't the female lead. The prince would not fall for Cinderella.

She warned herself repeatedly and had almost succeeded in convincing herself, with the exception of just a little bit of suspicion remaining. As such, when she returned the camera, she asked jokingly, "How come there are so many pictures of me?"

Jiang MingYuan took the camera back from her and retracted his fingers a bit when he touched the slightly cold fingers. Giving Cheng Huan a look, and still his usual calm self, his words however were up to interpretation. "I took the pictures because you were pretty."

Cheng Huan could feel her heart pounding in her chest and the morning glow reflected on her cheeks. The temperature around her seemed to be rising and the atmosphere became more curious. She sneaked a peek over at Jiang MingYuan and he, too, was looking at her. The heat became more intense when their eyes met.

The atmosphere was perfect for professing one's love yet, unfortunately, before either one of them has figured out what to say, they were interrupted by the one who was clueless.

XingXing came with daddy and mommy to watch the sunrise. As pretty as it was, he was starting to get hungry. He waited for a bit but still didn't hear any one of them saying that they would be returning. Feeling both dubious and hungry, he couldn't wait but dash over and grabbed Cheng Huan on her pants. "Mommy, when are we going to eat?"
