I was there

(warning: angst. Trigger warning.)

It all started with a small boy.  A rich one.
He had all the toys any kid wanted, everyday a meal fancier than the previous, only designer  clothes with expensive brooches...
He had it all,  didn't he?

Unfortunately inside his golden cage the boy, Jeon Jungkook, was deprived from the essence of a human life: affection and love.
His mother never hugged him,  too afraid to ruin her nails, his father always pushed him away as if he was nothing but a document he signed yesterday.

What made it worse for him is the constant fighting of his parents.  Both adults never failed to wake him up from his sleep in the middle of the night with their screams,  fights and breaking things.

He'd cry silently without a hand to rub his back and tell him it's okay,
Only small hiccups would escape his trembling lips as he force himself to choke those ugly sobs his throat vibrate with.

Next day, he'll wake up as if nothing happened, be a good kid and go to his prestigious school.
Nighttime was fighttime.
But apparently it wasn't enough.
It's becomes a daytime habit as well.

A 12 years old child shouldn't be this stressed to the point of risking a nervous breakdown or developing a mental health issue,  but here was Jungkook,  failing at school, suffering nightmares and insomnia sometimes  barely talking.

"We should consider having a second child." his father spoke from behind the newspaper he was reading while his mom scoffed.
"Go have it with your side bitch not me."
"Act mature woman."
"Funny how I can tell you the same."
"Stop testing my nerves! I said-"
"I don't care."
"What did you say you bitch?!"
"I said I don't fuckin care you manwhore! Go fuck your secretary behind the desk and leave me alone!"
"You little!" he said before throwing what he was holding aside and slapped his wife harshly before grabbing her from the hair.

Jungkook saw it all. The maid tried to take him to another room but he refused and ran toward his mother,  trying to protect her with his small fragile body only to be rewarded with a similar slap from his father.

"Look at him you bitch! You call this a son?! He's nothing but a poor excuse of a kid! Weak and pathetic!"
"Shut up!" His mother shouted back.
"I wish you were never born!"
When Jk heard this. He felt the last tiny bit of his heart crushing down to ash. He quickly ran away toward his room ready to let his gentle pillow drink his tears.

Next day, the driver was late to pick him up. Jungkook waited alone at the school's gate while everyone left for the place they call home.
Suddenly he had this urge, this weird sensation that took over his body. Jungkook felt as if he had a pair of wings that were chained...but now they are moving.. What woke them up?
The driver didn't come yet?
Screw it,  like his dad always says.
Jk ran in the opposite direction,  letting feets carry him to a place,  a place away from that house...Free.

"All aboard the bus,  we're about to head toward Busan." the man announced while standing near the big vehicle and Jk ran directly toward it.
"Hey hey little buddy. Slow down. Where do you think you're going?"
"..."
"Are you lost? Do you want me to call your parents?" the man asked once again, sounding concerned.
Jungkook froze for a second when he heard the word "Parents".
"Actually sir,  that's my eomma!" Jungkook said pointing at a random lady whom was sitting next to the window.
The lady looked toward them after noticing that there was someone pointing at her only to be surprised with a small boy whom had an innocent bunny smile and two bamby eyes waving at her. She waved back because the scene was adorable,  not knowing that she just made the man outside believe what Jungkook told him.
"Hurry up to your mother kid. The bus is about to take off."

That's how he ran away from his home once and for ever. Jungkook didn't stop for a moment to look back,  he just moved forward toward an unknown place with a small hope to erase the darkness in his soul.
The boy became a  hardworking mechanic, a man with a superior charisma and a slightly bulky body. Selfmade.
Being rich was never his game after all.

Jk was focused on his reflection in the mirror as he shaved that he didn't notice "him" entering until there was a pair of arms around his waist. Tho he remained silent and didn't utter a word not even a small "good morning" but a  smile made it way on his lips.
"I gotta go to work. Thank you for the night." the other half whispered the last part before unwrapping his arms and going. Probably to wear the rest of his clothes.

After being done Jk dried his face and went toward the bedroom,  leaning on the frame of the door.
"When will I see you again Seokjin?"
"That's not how a one night stand works."  the male replied with a small chuckle while trying to fix his hair earning a dramatic sigh from the younger.
"You broke my heart."
"Yah stop being like this!" Seokjin protested while slapping his shoulder only for Jk to grab his waist and lift him up a little, back rubbing against the wall.
"Like what you little munchkin?"
"Like a..." he whispered while leaning and Jk closed his eyes doing the same, once their lips brushed. He continued by saying "Like a brat." then running away from the muscle pig chased after him.

Yesterday they were mere stranger drinking their loneliness away in a bar with a need to feel some warmth and love which they decided to share with each other.  Today they're acting like an old married couple. They don't know what tomorrow hides but it seems that everyday is a different story.

Jk bought two sandwiches,  one for him and another for the small boy who work as a shoeshiner near his garage. He learned from the boy that he dropped out of the school to help his family and father whom recently got very sick to the point he couldn't walk that's why the young mechanic buy him food on a daily basis.
Unfortunately he was nowhere to be found today.

"Poor boy indeed." a lady said before sighing deeply followed by her companion.
"Excuse me,  can I ask what happened?" Jungkook asked only to receive a sad gaze from the woman.
"Jonkyo the small boy whom used to work as shoeshine.."
"W-what happened to him?!"
"He running from police after stealing bread,  a speeding car hit him and he died."
"..."

"Stop sulking like a puppy and go to him."
"What? No! Why would I?"
"Because you've been starring at him the whole time Seokjin!"
"Shhh! Keep your voice low Jimin! Gosh you're the worst bestfriend!"
"If you didn't go to take his order I'll do it myself."
"Okay fine!"

"What would you like me to get you sir?" Seokjin asked with a smile waiting for Jungkook to look at him and be surprised.
"Coffee with no sugar." he simply said still looking down which disappointed Jin whom was eagerly waiting for something.
"O-okay."
Maybe he forgot about him,  yeah that make sense...like he said himself,  that's how one night stand works.
But something about Jungkook was off. He felt it.

"How did it go?!"  Jimin asked while casually placing his hand on Jin's hips.
"Nothing."
"It's okay hyung,  here,  I'll take the hot delicious coffee to him and spill it on his fuckin clothes for hurting you like this!"
"Park Jimin! no!"

"You two! More working less talking!"
"Sorry boss!"

"I'll take it and I suggest you take anger management classes Chim."

Jungkook was too deep in thoughts that he didn't even notice when the waiter placed the drink in front of him.
"Rough day?" Jin dared to speak again while Jungkook seemingly woke up to the reality  looked at Seokjin before grabbing his hand.
"Jin!"
"Slow down you scared me!"
"Why are you shouting?!"
"Why are you shouting back?!"
"I don't know!"

"We can all hope they'll end up together." Jimin said while elbowing Namjoon.
"Hope is a dangerous thing my friend."

Dangerous indeed.
