Season 1 Episode 3 - Hell Hath No Fury(Part 1)

MIA'S APARTMENT
After coming back from a run, Mia is walking into her kitchen to grab a bottle of water from the fridge. When she closes the refrigerator door, she turns and sees Olivia sitting at her kitchen table with two mugs in front of her.

Mia: "Jesus Christ, a little warning that you're gonna break into my apartment would be nice." she jumps back in surprise as she puts a hand over her heart before making her way to sit across from Liv.

Olivia: "Oh, stop it, we live in the same building. The fact that I don't show up more should be more shocking." she remarks back as she pushes one of the mugs closer to Mia. "But I did make you coffee."

Mia: "Thank you. And the only reason you don't show up more often is because we spend most of our time at the office than this building. But still, you usually don't come by without sending at least a text. And also I didn't give you a spare key just so you could break in and make me coffee. Not that I don't appreciate it." she comments as she grabs the mug and takes a gulp. "However, it was for,"

Mia/Olivia: "Emergencies,"

Olivia: "Which this is." she tells her as Mia gives her a look to go on, "Amanda. We need to tell the others that we're taking on her case, and Stephen—"

Mia: "Isn't going to like it."

Olivia: "No, but I know we're on the right side of this, Mimi,"

Mia: "I know, but there's still a lot of conflicts of interests to consider. I mean, we both used to work for the White House and the Grant administration. And those are the only conflicts they know of. Not to mention the fact that you also u—"

Olivia: "Used to sleep with him too?" she finishes with a pointed look.

Mia: "Yeah," she says with a sheepish look. "Sorry."

Olivia: "No, you're right," she states after pausing for a moment. "But we're on the right side. She needs us."

Mia: "Okay, I trust you. If this is what you strongly believe then I will stand with you on this, every step of the way."

Olivia: "Great... I'm gonna have her stay downstairs. I'd like to try and keep a close eye on her."

Mia: "It'll probably be better that way anyways. Keep the press from knowing where she's staying. It's good." she then takes a sip of coffee before continuing on, "Mm... I have to leave the office later. I have a FBI meeting."

Olivia: "Again, don't those people give up?" she asks before continuing, "Who are they sending this time?"

Mia: "Aaron, which is good, he understands that I don't want to work for them, so at this point the meeting is just people catching up. But at least they're not sending his boss because she does not want to give up." she pauses, "Like a dog with a bone that woman." she sighs before finishing her coffee.

Olivia: "Where do they want you?"

Mia: "Quantico."

Olivia: "Nope, you can't work there. It's too far." she says with a smirk while taking a sip of her drink.

Mia: "Not that I would ever consider leaving OPA, but it's only an hour outside of D.C." she tells her with a matching smirk.

Olivia: "Still too far."

Mia: "I know... maybe I should just sick Cyrus on them get them off my scent completely."

Olivia: "Oh, that reminds me," she starts before pulling Mia's White House pass out of her pocket and handing it to her, "We got our passes back."

Mia: "Awesome. Now Morris won't have to shoot us when we try to sneak pass the gate." she remarks with a laugh.

Olivia: "Yeah, you know, we never did talk about why Cyrus took your access away. We both know why mine was taken away, but why did he take your's?"

Mia: "I don't know, maybe because he knew that if I had mine I would've tried to check you in like Billy did. Who knows?" she answers, not wanting Liv to know that it was because she went to talk to Fitz, as she takes her coffee mug to the sink.

Olivia: "Right..."

Mia: "Yeah..." she glances at the clock on the wall, "I should probably change so we can get to the office. You still driving?" she asks as she turns around.

Olivia: "Yes, I refuse to let you drive." she comments as she stands up ready to walk out.

Mia: "I am not a bad driver."

Olivia: "No, you're not. Your car's just a piece of shit." she states as her and Mia are walking to the front door.

Mia: "It's a classic."

Olivia: "Mia, you know very well that your car is not a classic."

Mia: "It's a good car."

Olivia: "Maybe when it was made, but, right now, your 1985 Civic is crap. Hell it's older than you."

Mia: "So?"

Olivia: "It has roll up windows and you're constantly taking it in for repairs."

Mia: "Oh, shut up." she says as she pushes Liv out into the hallway, "I'll be ready in fifteen." she goes to close the door but peaks her head back out, "And I'll have you know, those roll up windows are a great workout." she remarks, causing Olivia to let out a small laugh, before she shut the door.

OPA
In the hallway outside the conference room, Stephen, Mia, Liv, Abby and Huck are standing behind the closed glass doors watching Quinn and Amanda, who are sitting at the conference table.

Stephen: "No. No way."

Abby: "Are you kidding?"

Stephen: "What if she's lying?"

Abby: "What if she's not? I vote yes."

Mia/Olivia: "We're not voting."

Stephen: "It's Monica all over again, except without the blue dress, without any kind of proof."

Abby: "Who needs proof? The girl said she slept with the President."

Stephen: "Liv and Mia worked at the White House. That alone makes it a giant conflict of interest."

Abby: "Oh, please call me when you grow a pair."

Mia/Olivia: "We're not voting."

Huck: "She seems scared. I'd vote yes, if we were voting." he says as Harrison walks up to them after picking up a phone call.

Harrison: "It's Sandra Harding. Her son didn't make it to court. Day one, can you believe it?"

Mia: "Yeah. Actually that doesn't surprise me one bit." she scoffs. "It's just another indicator that he's guilty."

Olivia: "Mia," she warns quietly before Harrison looks into the conference and continues on.

Harrison: "Who are we voting on?"

Mia/Olivia: "We're not voting."

Olivia: "She's ours. We're keeping her. It's done." she then takes the phone from Harrison before talking to the person on the other line. "Sandra, we'll find him." then hangs up and hands it back to him.

Stephen: "I'll go to court and help the defense stall."

Olivia: "You're gonna have to get creative. Harrison, you're with me. Huck, find Gideon Wallace at the 'D.C. Sun' I want to talk to him today. Abby, take Amanda home, pack up her things, make sure—"

Abby: "No one is following her and set her up at your apartment. Got it."

Olivia: "Mia—"

Mia: "I already told you when they first came to us, that I'm not helping. Anyways I gotta go, I have that meeting." she tells them as she walks out.

Stephen: "What meeting?" he asks Liv.

Olivia: "FBI." she responds before they all nod and go their separate ways.

D.C. COFFEE SHOP
Mia is sitting at an outside table, with a coffee in front of her, while going through some messages on her phone when a SSA agent comes up to the table.

Aaron: "Dr. James," he greets her as she looks up.

Mia: "Agent Hotchner, hi," she says as she get up to say hello and shake his hand. "How are you? How's your son?"

Aaron: "Good, and Jack's doing great. He just turned six." he says with a smile.

Mia: "That's good to hear. Derek And Penelope? Dr. Reid?"

Aaron: "They're also fine, but if I'm being honest, I bet they would be even better if they heard we had another kid genius joining the team." he responds with a slight chuckle.

Mia: "I bet they would, but not as much as your boss."

Aaron: "No, you're right on that. She would probably be jumping with joy if I went back to Quantico with a 'yes'." he pauses, "So, can I tell her 'yes'?"

Mia: "Is it too early in the meeting to tell you 'no'?"

Aaron: "No, I don't think is."

Mia: "I'm sorry, but you know just as much as I do that I have no interest in working for the bureau."

Aaron: "I know, but I had to ask."

Mia: "I know... do you need to leave right away or do you have time for a cup of coffee?"

Aaron: "I have a little time before I need to get back. It'll also give me the time to tell you some other information I wanted to pass along." he says while receiving a questioning look from Mia. He then spots a waiter passing by and turns to him. "Hi, can I get a cup of coffee?" the waiter then nods and goes to get his order.

Mia: "Tell me what, Aaron?" she finally asks.

Aaron: "It's Strauss, she was pretty adamant about wanting you to get signed this time. I barely got her to let me come alone." he says after the waiter brings him his order.

Mia: "That bad, huh?"

Aaron: "She's determined, Mia. She wants another genius."

Mia: "The BAU already has a kid genius. It doesn't need another." she says with a smirk. He smiles briefly before getting serious again.

Aaron: "But honestly Mia, right now it's just me. Next meeting is going to be Strauss and she's not going to go away so quickly."

Mia: "Okay," she pauses and takes a sip of coffee before continuing. "Well if she comes, I'll get it taken care of." she says before taking a last sip of her drink and throwing some money on the table then standing up. "It was great seeing you again, Agent Hotchner."

Aaron: "You too, Dr. James." he responds standing up to give her a hug goodbye.

Mia: "Tell the rest of the team I say 'hi'. And thanks for the warning, Aaron." she says before turning to walk away.

Aaron: "Anytime, Mia." he replies and goes to sit back down to finish his drink.

OPA
After the judge adjourned the start of her son's trial, Olivia and Sandra were sitting on the couch in Liv's office discussing Travis' case.

Sandra: "He really did forget what time the trial started."

Olivia: "Sandra."

Sandra: "You're right. He screwed up."

Olivia: "He's lucky the judge didn't throw him back in jail. This isn't a parking ticket. He's on trial for rape."

Sandra: "He didn't do it. He didn't rape that girl."

Olivia: "I believe you, but if I'm the jury, I'm already resenting him for wasting my time."

Sandra: "Which is why I would like you on this thing. You and Mia can guide our defense team, keep Travis in line."

Olivia: "Unh-unh. No way. Today was just a favor and Mia's busy right now."

Sandra: "Liv."

Olivia: "Sandra, I love you. I love your son. But we're on retainer for your company, not your family. We help with mergers and P.R.. We don't babysit 27 year olds."

Sandra: "I know that Travis is irresponsible. I know that. I try to tell him that he has to step up, fix his own mistakes. Part of it is on me. After Hal died, he went through a very rough time, and I didn't always have the time to help him sort through all of that stuff. And these girls see the son of a rich C.E.O., and they get dollar signs in their eyes. That girl is not the victim here. Travis is. Please. You two have handled difficult clients before."

Olivia: "Not ones who didn't show up in court. And I already got Travis one of the best defense lawyers in Washington. He doesn't need me."

Sandra: "I need you. I spend all day listening to people who tell me what they think I want to hear. You and Mia are the only two who will give it to me straight. He could be in a lot of trouble here, Liv. I need someone on our side who I can trust."

Olivia: "People don't say no to you very often, do they?"

Sandra: "Probably about as often as they say no to you." she says as Olivia turns her head and, through the glass doors, can see Mia entering her office, causing the fixer to let out a small sigh.

Olivia: "Okay, I can't promise Mia, but the rest of us, we'll handle it."

~~~~~
About an hour later, Quinn was sitting at her desk when Gideon appeared in the doorway of her and Harrison's shared office.
Gideon: "Hey."
Quinn: "What are you doing here? You're not supposed to be here. You have to stop showing up here." she rapidly told him while pushing him into the hallway.
Gideon: "Are you always this high-strung?"
Quinn: "No. I'm just new."
Gideon: "It's kind of charming. Relax. I have a meeting with your bosses." he informed her as both, Mia and Liv, made their way out of their offices and towards the two.
Quinn: "Um, Olivia, Mia, I—"
Gideon: "Hey, where are you two going? We have a meeting." he said after watching the ladies pass him and continue towards the elevator.
Mia/Olivia: "No, we don't."
Gideon: "You called me. Your guy said that you two wanted to talk to me about—"
Mia/Olivia: "Why would we want to do that?"
Gideon: "I don't know. I imagine so you can try to kill my story about Amanda Tanner, which there is no way in hell I am gonna let you do."
Mia: "We don't have to kill your story, Gideon. You're going to kill it yourself."
Olivia: "As soon as you publish even anything remotely interesting about our client, all of the real reporters at your paper are going to snatch it right out of your cub-reporter hands."
Mia: "By the way, great piece yesterday about how the cherry blossoms are so late to bloom this year. I do hope they come soon." she sarcastically says to him.
Olivia: "This is how this works. You're gonna leave Amanda alone and keep her name out of your paper for the next 72 hours. You do that, and I will give you some background on her. And if you're lucky, a quote." she informs him as her and Mia step into the elevator.
Gideon: "That sounds fair. Okay... good meeting."
Mia/Olivia: "There was no meeting." they tell him as the elevator doors close.
Olivia: "How was your meeting?"
Mia: "Went how I thought it would. Except now he's warning me that his boss doesn't plan on giving up anytime soon and that she'll be the one out here next time."
Olivia: "Maybe you really should sick Cyrus on her."
Mia: "Maybe I will."
~~~~~

OLIVIA'S APARTMENT
After leaving the office, Mia and Liv are sitting with Amanda wanting to talk to her about her case.

Amanda: "You bring a lot of clients to your home?"

Olivia: "Just the ones that need to be kept out of the public eye. Mia lives upstairs, so sometimes we'll keep some clients there as well."

Amanda: "Okay, so, what happens next?"

Mia/Olivia: "Next we talk about things."

Amanda: "Okay."

Olivia: "Not bad things. Just things that will help us. For instance, we need to know if you have any proof of what went on with you and the President."

Amanda: "Why do you need that?"

Mia: "Because if it ever came down to his word against yours, we'll need proof of what happened."

Olivia: "Because even though we believe you, others won't."

Amanda: "I have something, yeah. I'm not ready to tell you what it is."

Mia/Olivia: "Amanda."

Amanda: "My terms. You two said we could do this on my terms. I'm not telling either of you until I'm ready."

Olivia: "Okay. Hopefully, it won't come to that."

Mia: "Hopefully, we'll figure this out."

Olivia: "Which brings us to the second thing we need. What's the end game?"

Amanda: "The end game?"

Mia: "A question we ask every client, what they want."

Olivia: "What's your best outcome? Do you want money? Do you want to stay in Washington? Do you want your job back? You have options."

Amanda: "I want to see the President."

Mia/Olivia: "Excuse me?"

Amanda: "I want to see the President. I want one meeting with him, alone, face-to-face."

~~~~~
D.C. RESTAURANT
Cyrus and Billy are sitting at a table talking, when Mia and Liv walk up to it.
Cyrus: "No. No, it was the caucus. We were in Des Moines debating, and the moderator raises the question."
Billy: "Mm-hmm."
Cyrus: "And Fitz just looked..." he starts to tell Billy, but sees Mia and Olivia, "Ladies." he goes to stand up, but Liv stops him.
Olivia: "Oh, please." she tells him as Mia takes the seat on his left and Olivia takes the seat on his right.
Mia/Olivia: "Billy, can you give us a minute?" they asks as Mia goes to grab a piece of shrimp from his plate.
Billy: "Um, I'm, uh, eating shrimp scampi, so, no and hands off." he states that last part directed towards Mia with a playful glare.
Olivia: "Billy."
Billy: "Liv, I'm eating, and he's paying. Do you know how rare that is? Look, you used to be the work wife, but word on the street is, your spots open, so you really think I'm leaving this table?" he asks Olivia.
Mia/Olivia/Cyrus: "Billy, leave the table." they direct him as he reluctantly leaves the table, greeting Liv with a peck on the check and turning towards Mia.
Billy: "Don't touch my shrimp." he tells her as he leaves and as soon as he's out of sight she grabs another piece.
Cyrus: "Work wife. I suppose that's true."
Olivia: "It is true. Was true."
Mia: "What does that make me?"
Olivia: "Work-sister."
Cyrus: "Work-daughter." they say at the same time, leaving Mia to smirk.
Mia: "That makes us one strange family, and that's saying something coming from the family I came from." the three then let out a short laugh.
Cyrus: "He's not sleeping." he tells Liv.
Olivia: "Not my problem."
Cyrus: "So what does my ex-work wife and daughter want?"
Olivia: "Amanda Tanner wants a sit-down." she tells him while picking up a piece of Billy's shrimp.
Mia: "Fifteen minutes with him."
Cyrus: "You two and I both know—"
Mia: "And then she goes away."
Olivia: "For good. This is legit, Cyrus."
Cyrus: "And then this goes away?"
Mia/Olivia: "Then you buy scampi only for us." they say with matching smirks.
Cyrus: "We three made a President together."
Mia/Olivia: "We did."
Cyrus: "I miss you, ladies."
Olivia: "Yeah. Me too." she says as she stands to walk away.
Cyrus: "He's not sleeping."
Olivia: "Cyrus, neither am I." she tells him before walking away leaving Cyrus to turn to Mia.
Cyrus: "Meems, you look like you need something."
Mia: "I do."
Cyrus: "What's up?" he asks as he takes a piece of Billy's shrimp.
Mia: "FBI." she sighs
Cyrus: "What? No quarterly meeting?" he asks with a chuckle.
Mia: "Had it this morning. Got warned that the section chief may not take my answer this time."
Cyrus: "Okay... come by my office tomorrow, I'll see what I can do."
Mia: "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she says as she gives him a side hug before getting up to leave. "See you tomorrow." she yells back causing Cyrus to smile.
~~~~~

DAVID'S TOWNHOUSE
The next morning, Olivia is waiting outside of David's, with two cups of coffee, when David walks by with his dog.

David: "You're obsessed. Do I need a restraining order?"

Olivia: "A restraining order? For a friend who brings you free coffee?"

David: "We're not friends, and that coffee is not free. What do you want? And where's your second half? She's not hiding behind the bushes is she?"

Olivia: "No, Mia wouldn't do that and she's busy... but to answer your question, Jane Powell she's prosecuting the Harding rape case. You got any—"

David: "Dirt? Dirt on Jane Powell, my friend and colleague? So you can threaten or intimidate her?"

Olivia: "Oh, please, you hate Jane Powell. Jane Powell is gunning for your job. You're so touchy pre-coffee."

David: "Beat it, stalker." he tells her as he takes one of the cups.

Olivia: "That's no way to treat a friend."

David: "We're not friends. But your actual friend, may have the right idea of being busy right now." he says back to Olivia causing her to sigh.

~~~~~
OPA
Liv, Stephen, Abby, Quinn and Huck are standing in front of the board discussing the case.
Olivia: "No luck with the U.S. attorney. I got nothing on the prosecution. Where's the jury?"
Stephen: "Uh, these ten are voting guilty."
Quinn: "But the trial's not even over. How can you say that for sure?"
Stephen: "Demographics, body language, sociological, and psychological factors. If Mia was working on this, I could get more accurate readings on them... But we've ruled out all but two as potential non-guilty votes uh, juror 4 freelance graphic designer, bartender, voted for Nader."
Olivia: "He's independent, contrarian. Good. And Mia's dealing with the FBI."
Stephen: "Still?" he asks Liv as Mia walks out of her office to leave to head to the White House.
Mia: "Yep, and I'm off to try and wrap it up. I'll be back later." she says before she looks at the pictures on the wall, sighs and walks out. Something Stephen immediately picked up on.
Olivia: "Stephen," she says indicating for him to continue, before said man continued on.
~~~~~

WHITE HOUSE
In the Oval Office, Fitz is standing in front of a few soldiers as Cyrus stands off to the side.

Fitz: "Thank you for your service."

Soldier 1: "Thank you, Mr. President."

Fitz: "Thank you. Thank you for your service."

Soldier 2: "It's an honor, Mr. President."

Fitz: "Gentlemen, thank you all."

Cyrus: "Thank you." he tells them as they head out of the room leaving Fitz and Cyrus alone.

Fitz: "Did you see that?"

Cyrus: "Hmm?"

Fitz: "They had prosthetic hands. That man saluted me with his left hand because his right hand was blown off by an I.E.D. while he was busy keeping us safe. This country. Its heart."

Cyrus: "I wish you were a cynic. Being President is easier for a cynic. Olivia and Mia want a meeting. One sit-down with Amanda Tanner, and it all goes away. I think, I think it's worth it. We do it casually, discreet, somewhere off the grounds. You hear her out, and then it's done. We're free. This is a chance to put Amanda Tanner behind you."

Fitz: "Olivia will be there?"

Cyrus: "Like I said, your life would be so much easier if you were a cynic. Now if you excuse me, I have a meeting with Mia."

Fitz: "What's going on?"

Cyrus: "FBI again."

Fitz: "They just can't take no for an answer now, can they?" he says as Cyrus gives him a look before he leaves.

~~~~~
Mia is walking through the West Wing, when Mellie spots her.
Mellie: "Mia, what a lovely surprise. I didn't know you were coming in today."
Mia: "Oh, yeah, I'm meeting with Cyrus to talk about some things."
Mellie: "What it is? What's going on? I feel like I never see you or Liv anymore."
Mia: "Just the FBI, so same old same old. They want me to work with them and I don't want anything to do with the bureau. So I asked Cy, if he could get them to back down."
Mellie: "That sounds like a great plan, well now that I saw you, I can tell you in person rather than calling you later." she says as Mia gives her a questioning look. "We have the state dinner tomorrow and I just saw that your name, as well as Olivia's, weren't on the invitations list, which, may I add, was a complete error. So it's tomorrow at 8."
Mia: "You know wh—" she tries to politely decline before getting cut off.
Mellie: "Tomorrow at 8. I'll see you then." she tells her before walking away.
Mia: "Just great." she says to herself.
~~~~~

Mia: "Now a good time?" she asks after knocking and peaking her head in.

Cyrus: "Meems! Yes, it's a good time." he tells her as he gets up to give her a hug before the two walk over to sit on the couch in his office.

Mia: "Great. That means I can get out of the hallway and avoid getting wrapped up in anymore unwanted conversations."

Cyrus: "Who got you in a mood?"

Mia: "A few different things, that's it." he gives her a look to continue. "Well first this FBI thing, then Liv and the others are working on the Harding rape case, and then Mellie just came up to me talking about the state dinner and I'm just... ughh."

Cyrus: "So Liv and the others?"

Mia: "Yeah."

Cyrus: "Mia, if you want to ta—"

Mia: "I really don't."

Cyrus: "Okay, I know better than to push, but if you need something, anything please come to me or someone at least."

Mia: "I will." she says after pausing for a moment, as a White House aide knocks and then walks into the office with a package in their hand.

Aide: "Mr. Beene, a package just arrived for you."

Cyrus: "Okay, just leave it on my desk, I'll take a look at it later." he instructs the aide before they go to leave. "So, your FBI thing. I took care of it. The bureau shouldn't be bothering you for a long time. Or at least when the Grant administration is still in office."

Mia: "You did? Already?" she asks, "If you were gonna take care of it before I got here, why'd you want me to come to the White House to talk about it for?"

Cyrus: "Oh, I didn't. I wanted you to come because, like I said yesterday, I miss you, Meems."

Mia: "I miss you too, Cy."
