09: Familliarity

The Chang family together with Hiro, James and Chester sat around a wooden circular table outside of the house by the swimming pool. It was a good weather so eating outside was good idea to lighten the atmosphere.

"Mom, Dad these are my friends. Chester John Green , James Forelle and Hiro Nicholas Garette. They were my buddies since elementary but this was the only time that I could let you meet them." Maycee's parents laughed.

"Its fine honey. I've heard a lot about Hiro from you. I bet you really like his company." Mrs. Chang inquired with a smile which made Hiro, who was staring at his plate in hunger, got startled on his seat but quickly hid it with an awkward laugh.

"Oh! Yeah... Hiro knows how to speak Chinese so he was my first friend way back in elementary and then James and Chester came along. Haha."

Mrs. Chang nodded. "Oh, that's good. I'm relieved you have such good friends."

While Hiro was listening to Maycee and his mother, he was in a state of confusion. 'Why would Maycee lie to his mother?' Hiro thought. Hiro never knew how to speak Chinese, he only knew how to speak Japanese since his mother's ancestors were from Japan. They weren't close way back before Chester introduced Maycee to him and got along. Yes, they met way back in elementary but the following were all lies.

Hiro wanted to ponder more over the situation but the constant rumbling in his stomach prevented him to do so. Shoving those thoughts away, Hiro begun piling his plate with food and started to dig in.

--

"There's no rock underneath there right?" James asked as he looked down the cliff.

After eating, Maycee decided to take the gang for a walk around but had urged them to bring with them their swimming attires. Since they have to go down the rocks to reach the shoreline of the beach, Maycee thought that jumping from a cliff and just straightly dive into the water would be easier.

The cliff where they stood is enough for them to jump but the fear of not knowing what was down there feared them. Well, Maycee had been diving there whenever he visits the place so its his job to reassure the rest that it was okay and pretty safe.

"None. Trust me! Me and my siblings often dive there, only plain sand underneath. No rocks or what ever that's going to kill you." Maycee reassured.

"I think its too dangerous. What if I don't make it on the water and bump my head on the cliff?" Chester asked worriedly. Everyone looked at him with worried faces.

"Really? Are you dragging everyone to be scared?" Hiro stated coldly.

"Nooo! Just consider the jump. What if I make mistakes." Chester frowned in worry which made everyone glare at him.

'You're ruining the excitement you idiot!' Hiro thought in his head as he looked at Chester with an angry look.

"Sto--"

Before Hiro could finish his sentence, he felt a strong gust of wind as the crashing of waves became more louder in his ears. He could feel his body flew out of the ground as Chester and James' loud scream echoed with the sound of the crashing waves in his ears. His eyes went wide in slow motion as he looked down to see that Maycee had pushed them all out of the cliff and they were falling hard into the water.

"Mayceeee!! You cocksucker!?" Chester yelled. His voice echoing in the air.

That was the last word that Hiro heard before a loud splash of water ignited in his ears. His body went cold as his lungs compressed in his chest to stop breathing. Hiro let himself be embrace by the cold sensation the water had brought to him before he could open his eyes. His eyes focused on that faint white light on the surface. It was like calling out to him. In bewilderment, he scanned his surroundings to only found out that Chester and James weren't with him.

In panic, Hiro quickly stretched out his arms and legs to start maneuvering his body to swim upwards. But before he could reach the surface of the water, his body had also begun to search for air which made him choke up before he could reach the surface. He was out of breath!

Hiro's body begun sinking again slowly into the dark depths of the water. His blurry eyes could see someone swimming after him but his body was too tired so his eyes decided to close.

"Is he gonna be alright?"

"He should be. If not then I will have to kill myself here before they do."

Slowly, Hiro opened his eyes. Those voices were disrupting his senses so his face -upon waking up- quickly contorted into a frown.

"If we should have been early then he wouldn't have ended like this." A deep voice angrily stated.

"Huh?! Are you blaming me for this?!" A young man's voice yelled back.

Hiro sat up from laying down and clutch his throbbing head. "So noisy!"

The two who was going to rip each other's throat instantly froze. Both of their heads slowly turned to Hiro's direction which made him stare in confusion. 'Who the fuck is these bunch of cosplayers?!'

"L-Lord Commander! Oh dear! Lord Commander!" The younger one exclaimed and quickly got into his feet and jump right into Hiro's body. Even though he had a small stature, he do have muscles and was completely crushing him instead of hugging.

"C-Can't b-breath!" Hiro patted his back. In panic, the guy quickly let go of him.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry Lord Commander!" The teen quickly got down to his knees to apologize which made Hiro reached out his hand to stop him.

"Its okay! Its okay!" Hiro yelled. He took a moment to take a huge amount of breath and scanned his surroundings.

He was in a spacious wooden boat. He had two male companions who wear strange outfits and was carrying swords with them base on the fancy sticks strapped on either side of their waist.

The black outfit they had looked like a uniform and they had several golden circles with symbols which were carved, pinned on their right chest. They also had red strings attached from their right shoulder to their left shoulder and a black cape on their back.

The young man who was strangling his life had two red strings on him and three golden circles on his chest. One sword strapped on his waist. His peach colored hair that reach his shoulders were braided behind his back. His aura exudes a vigor and energetic youth.

While the man who was sitting behind who was rowing the boat had a calm expression on his face. His black hair had a clean cut army style that exposed his prominent jawline and his deep blue eyes were mesmerizing. He had one red string on him and just the like the young man, he also had three golden circles on his chest.

"Who are you? And where am I?" Hiro asked for the first time. The two who was sitting before him looked at him with sad expressions.

"Lord Commander, You've lost your memories?" The young man coaxed.

Hiro frowned in confusion. "Memories? What memories? I don't even knew you?!"

After Hiro blurted those words, he wished that he should've just shut his mouth. He saw the already sad look on the faces of the people who saved him sunk even deeper.

"I guess the impact was too strong that not even the familiarity of your body were lost but even your memories." The young man stated in a whisper but Hiro could prefectly hear it out loud and clear.

"Wha-"

Before Hiro could asked a question, the young man quickly stood up from where he was sitting, making the boat rock in alarm. Hiro held tightly on the boat for dear life afraid that he might drown and die again.

"They're here. We have to prepare for combat Neil!"

Startled, Hiro looked at the young man in confusion. "Wha-? What combat are you talking about?"

The guy whose name Neil stood up from his position and draw out his sword. Its glint that hit with the sun's ray was emitting a dangerous and murderous glow which made Hiro swallow down his own saliva. In a blink of an eye, these two jump off the boat and started running on the water. In amazement Hiro's eyes never left those feet that had walked over the water.

"My God! Are they freaking Jesus?! They just run on the water-- Holy sheeet!!" Hiro yelled as he looked up the sky.

The sky had somewhat a black smoke who took the figure of a human with horns on its head floating in the sky. Its height stood like that of a four storey building which made this unknown creature very visible high up in the air. Several dark human shaped creatures started emerging out of its mouth like an army which made Hiro stare at it dumbfoundedly.

Suddenly, a balck figure came flying through Hiro's direction but Hiro didn't notice this since he was so amaze from watching the two people who saved him dashing from one direction into another like a flash of lightning running in the sky, one by one defeating the creatures.

A hand pulled Hiro's head down on the boat followed by a sound of something hitting a stone. When he looked up, he saw a man dressed in golden robes. Like in animation, his hair flew in the wind creating a heroic scene for this newly arrived character. Another shadow loomed behind Hiro which made him turn his head around only for him to shout in fear.

"Aaaaaaahhhh!!!"
