Chapter Twenty Seven

Brett chuckled and craned to get a better view.

"Did you hear me," Adam calls from the door, "be home before midnight."

I scowled and continued walking.

" Have fun at your kiddy party!" Adam calls mockingly.

"Whatever asshole," I grumble under my breath.

The Beetle left the driveway and not long after slowed into the schools parking lot for the second time. I never imagined that I'd be spending my night at a stupid school party but Ossey seemed to be of the idea that it wasn't as bad as I was putting it out to be. The parking lot was almost full and I exited the car and smooth out my dress with my palms.

There were groups of person's standing around chatting away contentedly. Music filled the air and I walked to the source of the music, scowling at persons who had stop talking to look at me. The double doors leading into the auditorium was slightly ajar and I pushed my way inside almost bumping shoulders with a girl a foot taller than I was. Disco lights were flashing and the dance floor was packed with teens dancing and whooping. More and more persons were filing in and out in pairs and trio's and I spotted the punch table and made my way over to it. It took me a few seconds to realize that the person serving drinks was Char. She looked colorful as ever but oddly different.

"Hey Secret," she beams spiritedly and reaches for a cup to pour me some punch.

"Hey Char," I reply hoarsely.

She handed me the drink with a smile and I took a sip. A boy I've probably seen before walked up to the punch table with a stupid look on his face Cha.

"Hey Ms. Charles, looking amazing tonight," he compliments and she blushed slightly.

"Thank you, Elliot," she beams handing him a cup, "enjoy the party."

He took the cup and winked at her before turning his attention to me. His eyes roamed my body and I narrowed my eyes at him and he walked away. Char grinned and bobbed along to the music even singing along when she knew the lyrics.

"Enjoying the party so far?" She questions.

"Ah, it's great," I respond looking around at the group of people having fun.

Char's smile had not dwindle not even for a second. I frowned at the fact that she was just another version of Phoebe and Hailey sent in my life to torment me.

"What are you supposed to be?" I ask looking at her costume.

"Arghh!" She says imitating a very strange voice," Ahoy there mateys!"

I raised an eyebrow questioningly and she continued smiling with her lips a bright red.

"A pirate of course," Char exclaims with a chuckle.

"Oh," I mutter awkwardly.

She chuckled again and continued dancing. I had two more cups of punch before I bid her farewell while she danced and handed out more punch. Every teen in the country must have been at the party. I made my way through the crowd feeling like a junior because of how short I was. My eyes scanned the auditorium for Ossey's dark curly hair but he was not here, instead I spotted two other teachers whose class I was probably in but I doubt they even knew that. I scoffed and continued making my way through the crowd. My cellphone was in the purse and I fished it out. A message from Ossey was on the screen and I read it and grimaced.

- Running late. Will be there in a bit. Don't get mad.

Mad? He has no idea.

Outside of the auditorium had just as many people as inside. A couple dressed as Wonder woman and Super man was making out below where I stood and there friends were flirting with each other a few meters away.

The conversations were loud and excited and most girls could be seen trying to get the attention of some crush or another. I rolled my eyes and watched the procession from where I stood. Leaning against the railing I stared at the night sky until a squeal caught my attention and I peered over the side and spotted another couple below making out.

A frown wafted across my facial features and I tore my eyes away. I was in the middle of fuming over how much I hate school parties when someone walked up to where I was and mimicked my stance. The scent of his overpowering cologne was enough to tell who the moron was without even looking at him. My teeth gritted on each other and with a narrowed brusque expression I looked over at him and saw his green eyes piercing at me.

A smirk tugged on his lips and he leaned in closer and whispered in my ear.

"Don't you look like a delectable treat, sweetling."

Blade's eyes travelled the length of my body admiring everything there was to admire except my outfit I was certain.

His voice had caused the hairs on the back of my neck to stand.

"Wanna take a bite?"

A smile tugged on his lips and his tongue glided over them slowly, "don't mind if I do."

His fingers trailed a delicate straight line up my arm to my shoulders and my body shivered slightly by his touch. Blade used his thumb to touch my lips and they parted freely. He smirked and I brushed his hand away and returned the smirk.

"Too bad asshole."

Blade chuckled and leaned back onto the railing.

"I see you're dressed as yourself," he mocks and I frowned.

"And you're dressed as you," I point out with disgust.

My eyes roamed his body taking in his outfit. It wasn't nearly a costume like everyone elses. Instead Blade was wearing his regular t-shirt, biker jacket, black jeans and boots and his grand finale a king's robe and a damn crown.

How big could his ego be to walk around believing he's the king or something special?

He chuckled at the look on my face and I scowled.

"It should be illegal to have an ego that big," I say with scorn still eyeing his crown.

I met his deep green eyes and he grinned a boyish grin looking completely amused.

"What can I say sweetling, the ladies love me," he boasts.

I reply with reproach, "then they must be brain dead."

Blade chuckled softly, "jealousy is quite attractive on you, you know Tink."

"Jealousy?" I echo through stifled laughter, "I'd rather eat an arm and a leg."

He raised an eyebrow not smiling this time and his expression changed.

"Oh c'mon sweetling," he says above the cacophony, "tell me this Tink, on a scale of one to ten, how much would you say you're in love with me?"

"Minus zero," I respond without batting an eye, "how many times do I have to tell you Blade, that you're the last boy on earth I'd ever date, for you to understand?"

Blade chuckled softly before responding with a smirk.

"Perhaps if you said it while your lips were on mine maybe then I'd understand."

My teeth ground on each other as I glared at him.

"I'm starting to think you were born with that scowl sweetling."

"And I was starting to think you weren't born with a brain Blade."

He gave another soft chuckle and I rolled my eyes and a muscle twitch in my jaw.

The sight of his face and that ever present smirk irritated me to the deepest part of hell, I just wanted to erase it permanently.

"Why are you here?" I ask rather brusquely.

"For my subjects of course," he responds looking around at the crowd, "what would they do without me," He adds with a grin.

"Be happier," I scold, "like I'd be if you weren't here so why are you talking to me Blade?"

He gave an innocent smirk and stared at me with dreamy eyes, "because, I'm not used to girls hating me sweetling."

I scoffed, "I'm pretty sure I'm not the first one to have a brain or some decency."

His expression changed in an instant and and I smirked triumphantly. I stared at him preserving the memory of him looking hurt and offended. The smirk he had been wearing was now long gone and his eyes narrowed slightly and I could see his brain working.

"I'd like to take you on a date," he says cooly.

"Where to?"

"The Cemetery," he responds brusquely then smirks as the smile on my face died and he walked away with a proud gait.

My face grew red and my jaw clenched. In an instant Blade's cockyness had returned. It irked me to think he actually thinks of himself as some sort of royalty. A more intense hatred burned in me. My narrowed eyes followed him and his last comment had left a bitter taste in my mouth. I couldn't let him have the final word, he doesn't get to have the final word. I set off in the direction he'd gone. When I spotted him he was talking with Luka and Jude who -not surprising at all- were dressed in similar king's robes and crowns and wearing smug looks on all there faces.
God, they really think they run this school.

"You don't get to have the last word you egotistical moron!" I fume once I was close enough.

Blade looked around. If he was shocked to see me there he didn't show it at all, he only smirked more than ever.

"Catching a tantrum Tink?" He mocks, "or do you just can't get enough of me?"

My jaw clenched tightly.

"You really think you own this school don't you!" I snap,"you think every girl should swoon over you because you're Blade Collins!"

"You've finally caught on," he comments.

I snorted angrily.

"Well let me tell you something moron, you don't own this school and not every girl has their sights set on you. You are nothing but an arrogant asshole who thinks he should be worshipped-"

"And you're nothing but an obsessed little girl, who clearly has a thing for me," he declares loudly.

My jaw clenched even more.

"The last person I'd ever become obsessed over is you asshole."

"Just admit it Tink-"

"Admit what?!" I interject fuming.

All three of them chuckled.

"One, you lost and two, you have an unhealthy obsession with me," he says smirking confidently.

I looked at all three of them, piercing them with my eyes. For the second time I found myself unable to think up a witty retort or sarcastic comeback which was frustrating. A muscle in my jaw twitched again and I hissed and stomped away.

"No denying it Tink?" He bellows and Jude and Luka guffawed.

I was fighting the urge not to have a brawl with them, and it took every molecule in my body to walk away.

"Come back, hang out with us!" Jude calls before laughing loudly.

I was too far away now to hear their jeers but I could tell they were still having a laugh and I scowled. The crowd in the auditorium was thinning as more and more persons went to hang out outside instead. Music was blaring loudly and students danced wildly and energetically looking rather happy and I made my way back to Char and got another cup of punch.
I took a sip from the cup and saw a tall male with curly hair making his way through the crowd towering over what must have been juniors or seniors my height. The cup in my hand was shaking from anger. Ossey headed over to where I was standing, wearing a complex look on his face.

"Why are you dressed as Peter Pan?" The question stumbled out once he was close enough.

"Why are you dressed as Tinker Bell?" he answers with a question.

"I asked first," I reply dismissively.

"I was dressed as Peter Pan last year," he responds.

My eyebrow rose and I failed to suppress a chuckle.

"Nice... leggings," I snicker.

"They aren't as comfortable as they look," Ossey complains.

Ossey got a cup of punch from Char and took a sip.

"You're in luck," I announce and his brow rose questioningly.

"How so?"

"I'll be your Tinker Bell if you promise to be my Peter Pan."

He chuckled and I took a sip of punch.

A few minutes after arriving we ditched the school dance and made our way outside. A group of girls were goggling at the sky and I looked up to see Blade, Luka and Jude on the school roof. Of course the idiots were getting a lot of attention, some girls were giggling and clapping as if it was a show and I scoffed.

"I hope they fall off."

"They won't, I've seen them up there about a thousand times now," Ossey says walking in line next to me.

"How disappointing."

"You still hate him?" Ossey asks looking over his shoulder at Blade.

"Will I ever stop?"

Ossey shrugged, "you know Cece, its best if you just forget it."

"Don't count on that happening."

"C'mon,"Ossey adds, "like the Beatles just let it be."

The song was currently blasting and I frowned at him.

"Sure... when I have his head mounted on a spike."

Ossey frowned and I ended up grinning at him. We walked to somewhere more vacant. None of the faces nearby was recognizable. As for Hailey, I could have sworn I spotted her earlier, and that was the only time I saw her, and I didn't even see her clearly. Blade was putting on a show for anyone who'd watch, as the dimwit strolled around the school roof as the spectators cheered. More and more persons were coming out to watch and take pictures. Jude and Luka were doing the same thing. It was almost like they were about to do some daredevil stunt or defy the laws of gravity.

I silently wished they'd try.

Ossey raised his plastic cup in a toast and I didn't even ask what for, I just toasted.

"Here's to being friends Cece," he says with a smile.

"Here's to being good friends Ossey," I respond not taking my eyes off Blade.

"And also to getting revenge," I add quickly and Ossey frowned.

I chuckled and mock punch him on the arm.

"Yo Os!" someone yells loudly and I looked towards the sound and saw his friends from the basketball team approaching us with grins on their faces.

The one at the front was tall and slender with a wee bit of muscle and was carrying in his hand a bottle of Mountain Dew. They approached Ossey and I some chatting away and laughing.

"Sup pretty little lady," the guy at the front says as they came closer.

"I brought drinks," he announces and they all formed a circle and sat.

"Mountain Dew?" Ossey says with a raised eyebrow, "Nice."

"It's what's inside of the bottle," the next guy pipes up, who happened to be carrying a pack of plastic cups.

"What's inside of it?" I ask and the guy looked at me and smiled mischievously.

"Vodka," he responds.

"Well I'm in," I announce a tiny bit cheery at the idea of something to take my mind off of Blade.

They poured enough for all and we toasted.

"To tonight!" One guy says loudly and the rest whooped.

"To every other night," another guy adds and more whoops.

"To a lifetime!" Another bellows.

I bit down on my lip and toasted in my mind, "to getting back at Blade Collins," and to that I had a double cup.
